Just an observation, not intending to bash the Hawks or pump Madlax. The Hawks are super legit.
Madlax beat Akswanse Thunder on Saturday, 14-2. Thunder just beat the Crabs 12-4, beat True Annapolis 6-4, and lost to the Hawks 9-8.
Time will tell, and certain player matchups can often dictate results. But Madlax is the team to beat in Elite 2028. They also spanked Philly Freedom 8-2 last week, who beat the Hawks by 4 in the fall. They also have the sickest social media! Personally, I detest comparing scores. Just never know what goes on. As per the Madlax social media - they love this 2028 team and don’t get me wrong it’s a legit squad. Interesting take is they seem to be much taller than everyone they play .

Still no schedule out for HoCo. Let's go fellas. Lock in these first games. You must be new around here. It typically comes out Tues-Wed and is released to coaches first. Distributed to parents/team by the coaches which sometimes takes another 24 hours. Is this kind of ridiculous? Why yes it is. But here we are.

Original poster did say that individual matchups can have a big impact. But it was an observation— and scores do not often lie. As for the comment about size— Madlax team is way smaller in height than Hawks. Hawks goalie is 6 ft tall. NL, too. And they have like 8 kids who have dropped down from 2027 the last 2 years. Madlax does NOT HAVE ONE RECLASS in the last 3 years. Not one. And that is a FACT.

Here comes the “kids born before 9/1/2009 hawks/ml” drivel.
holdbacks/reclass/summer birthdays/prefirsts whatever.
The teams are old. It’s allowed. It will get worse. Go Play soccer. Elite elite elite.

Hawks and Madlax are two of the best teams and we all know it...because they are old. Both teams will have an asterick next to their name until high school. Congrats on being Elite and Old!

But the Madlax team has not dropped down ONE 2027 player in the last 3 years. Unlike the Hawks, who have dropped what seems like half their team down from 2027. They didn’t like losing 16-1 to Madlax every game like they did prior to 2021. So be it. It’s the rules. And I have no problem with holdbacks. But don’t pop off on how old Madlax is, it’s just not factual.

Can we get back to talking about the schedule and tourney results.....or at a minimum the USCL rankings which seem absurd at the moment?
holdback [ChillLaxin] should comment on the holdback thread.

At the end of all youth sports it boils down to talent regardless of age, size or class. As “Outliers” has now been debunked re:hockey age/size and age doesn’t guarantee size. The reclass issue seems to focus on seeking competitive advantage through size which is ludicrous because good coaches see through all of that anyhow and want skill + character. If your player can compete at 1 or 2 years ahead of their age they will have the requisite talent for always progressing to the top level of whatever sport they play regardless of size. Challenge them with that opportunity to rise to the occasion and for you as a parent to come to terms with their true ability, or lack thereof.

If you reclass gain the most advantage from it in repeating 9th grade if you didn’t start varsity. That player will gain the most development. Like the college freshman redshirt.

Anyway hawks appear to be the new crabs. By time this team is in the 8th grade there might be 1 on age starter on the whole team.

Geesh, the ML all caps crowd is particularly punchy. That team is outstanding and playing well (dare I say buzzin’) For the love, please take the holdback talk to the holdback thread. Bored MD dad preseason hype or report would be fantastic now now that a few games have been played and it’s go time. This age group has changed a lot recently, good ball being played at all levels (not just elite).

Team comparisons or rankings must be justified as to why “we” aren’t higher ranked and the reclass excuse, which will only grow for the next 2 years, is the justification mechanism of choice and unfortunately will become pervasive in many threads.

So NL is adding that many kids in Feb/March two weeks after fumbling an entire tournament.
