HOCO playoff pre-season predictions: 1st seed bye: Crabs 2nd: DCE 3rd: Hawks 4th: VLC 5th: True 1st seed and Bye - Hawks 2nd seed - DCE 3rd Seed - Looney's 4th Seed - Crabs 5th Seed - Madlax Best FO - Crabs Best Midfield - Hawks Best Attack - Madlax Best Defense - Hawks Best Goalie - Hawks Strange you would post this. Hawk’s biggest weakness is their defense. Madlax lost several starters and will not make the playoffs ML - Lost Goalie and Attack to VLC, Lost SSDM and Attack to TRW... 1st seed and Bye - Crabs 2nd seed - Hawks 3rd Seed - Looney's 4th Seed - DCE/Madlax 5th Seed - Madlax/DCE Best FO - Crabs Best Midfield - Hawks Best Attack - Madlax Best Defense - Looney's Best Goalie - ??? VLC/DCE/HAWKS I would put Looney's behind Hawks for Defense; trust me Hawks are much different team this year. They will be hard to score on. A lot of good goalies but the Hawks kid is the best I have seen and he is even bigger this year.

Hawks goalie is okay, but he is not clearly better than some of the other goalies in the elite division. Quickness beats size. Also, with a weak D a goalie will face a lot of 1 on 1s and won’t be able to do much.

Best FO - Crabs Best Midfield - Hawks Best Attack - Madlax Best Defense - Looney's Best Goalie - Looney/DCE Looney’s will be in a tough spot. Looney’s will be a demoralized 0-3 team in tournament play as they go into their first HOCO game at then end of the month. It will be difficult to pull together after blow out losses to LI and Tigers.

I think you underestimate this team; they are better than last year and that team was in every game they played.....even against Crabs and Hawks. Do they win at Bloom; who knows, but I bet they keep it to a few goals against Express and Tigers and beat VLC outright. Defense and Goalie play will lead the way and the additions on offense (top 2-3 attacks at 26) and they my surprise a few teams!!

If kids break away from the club daddy pack on their high school team, will they suffer when they have to come together to play club? Question for the experts on BOTC.

Here’s some advice. Worry about how your own son is playing, how he is developing, and whether he is still enjoying the game. Radical, I know.

They'll be better. The high school coaches are way better and have consequences. Even at a club like NL, they have 3 high school coaches who are stretched really thin and always choose coaching high school over the club when there is a conflict. This also means they care more at the high school level.

If a club director tells you that your MS kid will be coached by a HS coach at club, and that this automatically "means the coaching is good," rest assured is at least half false if not 100% false. The ironic thing is that about 50% of HS coaches are such awful youth coaches, that you are better off when (inevitably) they do not show up to coach the youth team. The only (related) worse thing I can think of, is to have public HS coaches evaluating 4-5 foot tall youth players at tryouts. Which is how teams get "that huge kid with the bad back who can't run but also can't shoot."

Looneys will roll this year. We lost the cancers on the team and picked up some true TEAM players. Crabs and Hawks avoiding us in Spring. Cancers? Come on. We are talking about middle school boys. Are some MS boys friendlier than others? Sure. Are some better teammates? Obviously. Do they showboat, or hog the ball sometimes? Yep. Do MS boys misbehave, or say notIntelligent things sometimes? Yes, and so do adults. Each boy left the team for his own reasons, some for what they think is a better club/team/coaching staff, others because they thought they would get more playing time, or win more games, or some other reason. My son is still on the Looney's 2026 team. He enjoys playing with his buddies, likes his coaches, has fun, and is continuing to improve his game. There was no and there is no player on the Looney's 2026 team who could even remotely be considered a "cancer" to the team.
