Elite
Agree that hawks and ML are a cut better. They are also the oldest. FCA is third followed by NL and Crabs. Goes a bit downhill after that. And the huge old kid on ML is not a double holdback. He’s your standard single variety.
AAA
I’d be shocked if Kelly post voluntarily moved to elite. They may be forced but we will see. Blue Claws only game they may lose would be to FCA white. Other than that they take it. VLC should be here and may be third.
AA
This is where both Preds and 91 should be but unsure if they actually will. If Top Caliber plays HoCo they should be here and may win the bracket.
A
LTLC or Rockfish wins if I had to guess Award for most accurate summary with the lowest word count. LTLC and Rockfish are great examples of what's typical for A-level ball.....full hearted coaching, a few pieces of talent waiting to get poached, a few more talented kids who could be developed, and mostly rec kids having fun.

1. Hawks - They will repeat. Deepest roster, stacked at the positions. Top goalie, attack and FO in Elite. 2. Madlax - detest to say well coached, but they have a system that wins youth games, and a double hold back. 3. FCA - Stud Attack and FO. Good depth, but not enough overall talent to beat 1 and 2 4. Next Level - Great parts, solid depth, undisciplined and easy to predict 5. Crabs - They seem to be middle of the road every year and at every tourney 6. True Annapolis - Lost some kids. Took a step back this year. 7. BLC - Got better, but not good enough to compete at Elite. Could win 1 or 2 games, could win 0. 8. Kelly Post - welcome to a miserable year. love it 100% true

When does the hoco schedule get released? If I remember isn’t it right before the first games? Which makes me think… when are the first games? Just looked through old texts— the schedule came out March 15th, but I think it was slightly delayed due to Covid scheduling. But that’s when it dropped last year, about a week before the first games.

Elite: LOL @ True Annapolis in Elite.
AAA (Championship Game: Claws vs FCA White) (Claws) Blue Claws - Undefeated or 1 loss. FCA White - 2 deep at every position. Could be enough to win it. HLC - Have somehow retained solid AAA talent. Hawks Black - Should be better than results indicate Forest Hill - Should be worse than results indicate Cannons - Same as HLC but less so Team MD - Stepping it up from AA Eastside - Supposedly has lost/added 1/3 of the roster 91 - Should not remain in AAA but I'm sure they will.
AA (Championship Game: Sidewinders vs Predators (SW) Sidewinders - could easily take it, with Team MD out of the way Predators - is this team of cast-offs from Crabs, FCA Blue, and the HoCo Pink an actual cohesive team? Maybe. Ville - grew some great talent in the last few years......and then has lost much of it. Could give every AA team problems, though. ML DMV- will improve from last year's painful showing in AA. True Annapolis - No better than 4th. Have not heard of any great players leaving other teams to join TA. Diamondbacks - I predict another painful season. With Sidewinders fielding two 2028 teams, kind of robs next-door Arden of AA level talent. Swarm - based on BOTC banter it seems like the coach took the starters to T91. Maybe slip back to A ball BLC Orange - shocked that this team continues to underperform, but no sign that it will change. Would it be the worst thing if they slipped to A ball?
Unknowns for AA: Next Level Red? Baltimore Elite? (destroyed everyone in A, then tripped in playoffs......starters are FCA, 91, Predators, Hawks, Forest Hill, Nationals, True National kids who will be unavailable for BE HoCo season).
A ball winner is HoCo Black who would be advised to stay in A ball. why would AA have potentially 10 teams?

Who you taking? Pretty good line. I’d take the over on Madlax as it is unlikely they lose twice. Same with Hawks. I’d probably go under on FCA, push on NL and Crabs, and take the unders on True, BLC, and KP since I think they are all 0.5 too high.

Hawks will lose to ML in reg season. ML will lose to NL NL will lose to FCA Hawks win championship again
Blue Claws goes undefeated and loses to FCA White in championship. 91 is winless again.
Preds wins one game. Arden is better than anticipated. Team MD sandbags and stays in AA and goes undefeated again
HoCo black wins A

Yeah....that's a ridiculous schedule for a new team out of the gate. They gave BLC a game for one half with starters in and no goalie. Once the 2nd string goes in it's a big drop-off. Hopefully they start in AA and go from there.

I heard all of their team are double holdbacks and they eat nails for breakfast. Their coaches are Paul Rabil and Gary Gait and their moms are all 6’5 250 and run a 4.2 40. Don’t get me started on their dads…. We’ll see in a couple weeks.

Takes about 2 minutes to know which kids were playing for 2027 last year. Clearly the oldest team in the DMV, seems like half the kids are reclassed. Not holdbacks, let’s delineate between the two. Reclassed is when they repeat a grade. holdback is when they’re pre K and rather than starting them at a very young age, they hold them back before they ever start school. And yes, there IS a big difference in INTENT. Either way, I’m fine with it. My kid is March 2010, so he’s clearly on the younger side— I like him playing against great competition, whether a year older or not. Including the mighty Hawks. They’re a fantastic opponent, and make my kid better.

I consider 9/1/09 the cutoff for reclass/holback whatever you want to call it.

I don’t really care about their intent, the Hawks 13 year old shouldn’t be playing against everyone else’s 11 year old. That goes for any other 13 year olds in 2028.

Well all the children who are not on age are turning 13. Some are already, some will turn 13 later.
Whatever. It is what it is.
Hardly any of the stud players you see committing to big D1 programs are on age anyway. It’s just the culture of this sport.
As this group is in middle school this will only get more prevalent.

You don’t know what you’re talking about, clearly. Half the kids in the 2028 class who are ON AGE have turned 12 by now (Sept —Feb birthdays). A single reclass would be 12 or 13 by now. It’s is what it is, 13 year olds born after 9/2008 are single holdbacks.

Including kids held back in public school academically, kids held back over "academic concerns" in MIAA schools, and a few kids held back for no apparent reason. All three groups will be in HoCo @ 2028 from A to Elite.

I've had the misfortune to watch a lot of mixed age bracket tournaments and the skill/size advantage in 1 year is about 7-8 points per game, watching two teams of similar talent but 1 year apart. Won't erase Crabs' 11 point losses but it sure will cure their 4-5 point losses. And I'm sure they are counting on it.
