One other major factor nobody is mentioning is how much your going to owe at the end of this journey.Forget about the playing time for a second, depending on scholarships and aid the decision on where you go to school has to be based around how much it’s going to cost getting brainwashed by liberal, opinionated professors.I can say at least half or more of what is being tonight in college is subjective and relatively useless in life and career. Ummm, ok. You don’t have to go to college, free country. There are other paths to take for careers. You sound opinionated and perhaps brainwashed one way?. It’s good to get around people who may not think like your parents and get thoughts/opinions of your own. Hear other peoples opinions too. Instead of just being told what to think by family, And local community. Good to get out of our bubbles and hear and see other thoughts on life. Also, plenty of conservative colleges as well. What are the conservative colleges? Liberty University would be one

Just about all academic institutions are slanted left (southern or not) Mask mandates, restrictions, shot requirements, testing etc… is different from the liberal leanings of college professors and instructors.

Question for the masses. Will American select at $700 a player or Under Armour at $150 get all the talent this year ? Wasn’t impressed with American Select and for them to put their dates same at UA is frustrating too. Taking advantage of families to line their pockets.

Thinking players will stay with the team they played on last year. Some who didn’t make it last year might go UA, as it is much cheaper.

Both teams had questionable girls make them. It will always happen so don’t say one is better at eval than the next.

Undoubtedly, the top 24s were def. At UA!

The question was asked where are the talented players going to play either UA or AS. What is your objective competition or recruitment. What sidelines were the college coaches on looking for their next recruits and more important who the scholarship money goes too. After all isn’t that why parents drop all the dough on high end events. Can’t be just the sublimated uniforms and a few pics. What in the masses opinion justifies a good event, your team making it to the end or your inbox blowing up before you get home from tourney by the coaches you played in front off. Just an open question not geared toward controversial responses.

Taking advantage of families to line their pockets. $700 is ridiculous and AS is run by a certain queen bee. We all know that means there will be mostly pesky wasps around even if they’re missing a wing or a leg.

AS will eventually get washed down the drain. How many more tournaments do these girls need to play this summer? To have the expense of $700 at the end of a very long summer for these girls!

Wake up call for UA. Tryouts were terrible and talk about political! They need to get their act together, losing credibility and luster.
That’s why AS type showcases could take the talent and get the respect of the college coaches doing the recruiting. AS has to be more careful about selection process and not let it become political.
It may seem political when many YJs end up on the AS team. However, the facts on LI is that , most of the top players are on the YJ teams. Not ALL…. But a big majority. That’s why it may seem political as well. They will have big representation on the team.

Way back in 2015 my oldest went to the UA Underclass tryouts, there were close to 200 players grades 9 - 12 and they only had 1 team. No Yellow Jacket people involved in the tryout / evaluations or selections. 16 or 18 Yellow Jacket players made the roster of 24 and all you heard was how political it was.

UA, Inside Lacrosse. AS are all very political. When yiu have selectors knowing who they are taking and parents involved in the selection process. I think everyone can agree not on the up and up. Some of names on list are.a joke. But the parents who know how to work the system win in the end. I love how one of the best 2021’s out there was never on any list and is gonna crush it in a top 10 program. Just goes to show you how narrow that list is.

Parents of clubs not represented at UA need to speak up. UA wants coaches and evaluators. They ASK blatantly for evaluators on their website. Make your coaches go!!! They dont want to put the time n? That’s a shame. It’s on the club to have representation. That’s it.

Except they are terrible with communication and this past summer at some of the tryouts, the evaluators who volunteered didn't hear anything until the night before the tryout so many couldn't drop all they were doing to make the it.

Spallina knows the political games that are played and loves the fact that there are many great players that are not politically destined to make it through the selection process because they are not the coaches or directors chosen ones. He can identify talent and athleticism and has his pick of the overlooked, over shadowed players. He also seems to have some satisfaction watching some of the over -hyped players come up short.

Facts: Parents are and have evaluated! Facts: Parents work evaluators to help their daughters! Facts: There is top talent being missed by Inside Lacrosse. Facts: Every year there is talent that goes unnoticed and those kids are the ones who win in the end. Because they never stop working and crush it in College. You are absolutely correct about Spallina. The good coaches know it and the good coaches know when the dad is always involved getting his girl the cuddos. Let your girl be the one who goes unnoticed and crushes it later. Because true talent never stops working and doesn’t need the cudos and the awards backing them because their mom or dad made it happen with a few phone calls.

Not a lot of talent gets overlooked and JS has brought in more Long Island players that were selected to Under Armour Underclass teams than any other program. Parents have been complaining for years, the reality is that the large majority of players who get recognized by IL and UA go on to have good college careers at many of the top college programs. Obviously if the majority of the players being recognized are also being offered spots by the coaches at the best college programs the players must be pretty darn good. There are a lot more delusional parents than there are top notch players who get overlooked. If the player is from LI the player will most likely not be overlooked by the best college programs. They get plenty of exposure. Not many of the top players from LI get overlooked by IL or UA either.

Or, simply not as good as they think they are? Most LI girls will “get seen” by virtue of playing on a LI team. Maybe it’s the club they are on? Are they getting seen where they are going? The individual player has to step up and do a lot of individual stuff as well to make sure to get seen, especially if on a weaker club.

They also got beat by a bunch of 9th graders today….maybe bbp is not worth all the hype They are definitely not that great. I think they have a good amount of decent players, not big time stars. That is enough to do well in HS tournaments, where most teams just have no depth. Will be worse this year because HS sports are down in participation just like everything else. If a girl isn’t committed to play in college, or hopeful to commit, good chance she isn’t playing this year “just for fun”. Makes it hard for teams to do well. I think teams like NP, MS, and BBP have enough girls who can catch and pass to go far. It’s also easy to “catch an eye” when you’re not playing top competition. As for BBP being beat by a “bunch of 9th graders”. I’m not surprised. This is a top travel team with many talented girls just coming into their own. Not a fair comparison

BBP going on a few year run, starting right where they left off! While the loss at Spooky Nook was to a better team.

That was the BBP Second team. Which is a bunch of underclass players also. The BBP First team would not lose to them, nice try though. BBP has two teams in the league.

You mean YJ Spalina team!? Just say it, Not just a “9th grade pick up team”. They are a great team , I think #2 in the 25s age group in the country? The teams they were playing were also very good teams. Although, I Don’t think they had all their top players playing? The 10th grade SA team was a “pick up team” of sophomores. Was not a “true team” where these girls played together a lot. They were also missing some key 10th grade players from SA. Congrats to YJ Spalina on a great win!

Think about it, it is a team of the very top players, a HS team would be lucky to have a small handful of top caliber girls on it. To also put another perspective on it, my daughters 9th grade YJ team played an an incoming recruit class team of a lower level D1 at an indoor tournament. Beat them horribly, like 15-2 or in that range.

Winter leagues for HS programs are typically missing the majority of their best players due to many reasons such as playing other sports, or just taking a rest. Amazing how anyone thinks it matters for anything other than getting some practice in. Not by any means a realistic representation of any teams talent. Please stop. Nobody cares about winter league scores

Wouldn't it have been more surprising if BBP won with their winter town team vs. the very best 2025s on the island/country coached by a top 10 D1 coach?
Get a grip....
