You people are crazy on this 2028 board. TOO MUCH LACROSSE. Your kids aren't going to develop as athletes unless they play other sports at a reasonably high level. And they are going to burn out, you can see the joy fizzling out of the game for them. MORE ISNT ALWAYS BETTER. Thanks

Kids should play more than one sport. That being said kids enjoy lacrosse, it’s fun and not a burn out sport. Kids that are athletic and put time in become the best players. It’s not for all but those that have the passion rise to the top. Some clubs have zero winter practices, some have fifty plus.

At this age group it is a mixed bag. Some teams stay together all year and practice weekly with “team” practices replaced by skill sessions that are position specific. After fall wraps up, box or basketball (sometimes both) take over. Basketball is awesome for lacrosse development and the skills for footwork, offensives and defensive sets carry over. Box is a much different animal but also helps with quickness and physicality. In the dead of winter skills or box should be once a week and more if box games are thrown in. Anything more and the average 11 yr old will tune out. Spring practice begins in late jan or when the snow melts. Some clubs pay up for indoor space for team practice but those are normally the more pricey and selective team options.

Travel/Club lacrosse does not mean you need to go to Florida...

Wow like 2 weeks without a Moose comment. One week without a Surge comment. Rebels coming up on that as well. Come on people - get your comments in.

Express N actually change their name to express N national they had so many guest players which is fine for a holiday week tourney.

Bring on the spring What’s better than traveling to FL in the middle of a pandemic, during Omicron, with airline flights in disarray - to play in a worthless “national” tournament without your entire team (and with guest players).

This is the normal “offseason” for lacrosse, what is the value of it? A couple of extra games in December? Aside from the time spent, money spent, stress from travel at the busiest time of year, and health risk taken on - so great your 11 yr old got a few extra games?

What a bunch of haters!! I’ve got 2 boys and a girl playing lax and if I said you guys wanna go down to FL this weekend to play a tournament, they’d have their gear at the door in 10 mins!!! Some kids REALLY like to play lacrosse, don’t detest.. that’s probably such a fun trip!! Even if they get beat the whole team can shake it off at the pool after and have fun. and of course they play other sports, soccer and basketball.

Mom? Not even close. How about a lax Dad that knows the sport and knows what athletes look like. Unlike most of the Dads on this site that are frustrated athletes that never made it in high school and our trying to live their glory days through their sons. I am also talking about the legit Venom goalie that has been there since the beginning, not the new backup.
