That's harsh, finally someone goes outside the norm of saying how good the YJ are and he/she is a buffoon or a clown? I would agree with the assessment, unless you have a better answer o wise one. Have you never heard the analysts talk about "top recruiting classes?"

Pro teams wait 3 years before they assess their draft picks. You are ready to anoint the best recruit class without anyone stepping onto a college lacrosse field. Do you think your assessment is a tad premature?

Of course they don’t. Haven’t you read the nonsense on here by the buffoons on here who think they know who all of the best players are? It’s very amusing reading what these clowns write.

UNC has the best recruiting class? That’s funny. They got one outstanding player (attacker). Then some other girls who could be considered top recruits. But then again, so did several other teams. Reminder about last year when UNC was supposed to be the super team. Did not end well. Let the girls play before you decide who’s best

What happened to Liberty with this class? They don’t seem to have any top recruits. Is this an indicator that the club is going down or it’s just a bad year for them?

I really enjoy reading these forums to gather a lot of useful lacrosse insight. However, it’s gets tiring when one has to wade through all the insults and bickering. Any chance we can keep these posts to productive lacrosse info, especially for us not from LI folks?
Thank you.

All together now… coaches recruit players not teams!

Exactly...there are a lot of great players on that "B" team.... They have a bunch of commits ...

Yes, I'm curious about Liberty too. I seem to have seen more about their 22 team but haven't heard much about 23 team.

Liberty is losing the GC kids to Tradition, and the Manhasset girls no longer feel the heavy pressure to play there. The 24 team is solid but they have a lot of work to do at the younger ages

Pros also evaluate those same draft picks based on their potential and performances at their current level. what's your point? these players are evaluated based on their performances for their club teams and high school. Common sense says some of these girls will continue to excel at the next level, some won't. Just as with anything in pro sports or life. Nothing ground breaking here. critical thinking folks. use it.

Plus UMass is actually a good school and lacrosse program! UMass used to offer some automatic merit money to out of state students above a certain test score/GPA threshold. That stacked with athletic money can make it very attractive financially. Sheesh, it's not like one committed to Stanford and the other committed to one of the lowest ranked D1 programs at a school hardly anyone has heard of.
But at the end of the day, does it matter if someone committed to "one of the lowest ranked D1 programs at a school hardly anyone has heard of"? What a comment!!! NO ONE has any idea of what happens behind closed doors when they make their decisions. There are MANY factors that go in to making THEIR decision. Money, playing time, destination of school, etc. I'm so over reading that players have to go to a "top" school for it to mean anything. The fact that these girls are playing D1 ("top" or "lowest") is a accomplishment in itself. Period. Get over yourself and YOUR expectations

The context of my comment was in regard to UMass Amherst, which some parents would turn their noses up to because it's not an elite private, not top 10 lacrosse, and so on. I now understand the school that was referred to is UMass Lowell, which is not as competitive of a lacrosse program as Stanford, but I agree that no one knows what goes into each player's decision and assumptions should not be made. I know several players who chose schools for the right reasons that were not as "impressive" as others that made offers.

Had nothing to to with anything related to YJ. Just pointing out how many on this site believe they are know it all experts on who the best players are. It wouldn’t be so bad if they did not try to tear down or diminish the players that they do not even know or the players that they do not believe to be top tier players.

The current skill level and shot speeds are making some shots practically impossible to stop. Why is the bottom hand on the stick not taught to be a simple blocker to deflect shots on the right side?

I would guess the gloves really aren't designed for it. More than a few saves and your hand is really going to hurt. Box goalies do this as well, but the gloves are different.

The goal is to block the shot, not catch it in the stick from a relative outsiders perspective.

This is in transition and goalies are starting to figure this out on their own. It's not being taught yet to young goalies as it goes against the norm. Again, the equipment doesn't support this so it is usually a more advanced goalie who's willing to "eat it" because the protection isn't there but the pain sure is. There'd be no youth goalies if they started like this in second grade.

The majority of people who put their kids above others are delusional about their talent, and their kid is acually only average. most think their own kids are actually better than they really are. Best not brag on a forum like this because you will be called out

How in the world do you know that it is the father? Although I do agree with you that there are many delusional parents.... The recruiting process usually lets them know where their daughter actually stands. A lot of the delusional parents happen to be from The Island...

The player is a good goalie. The fact is Stanford went through four or more goalies first. So the player won big time.

Speaking of Stanford why did they pick two lefty low attackers and two center middies in the same class?

I agree. She is good. Anyone who says she's average doesn't know what they're looking at. In many cases, B teams produce better goalies than A teams.

The college coaches will show us all which girls are the best….. the buffoons and clowns are the ones who think they know it all.

What schools made offers, that will tell you where your daughter stands…. It the Top 10 caliber programs did not make offers …. The kid is most likely not a top tier player.

“In many cases B teams produce better goalies than A teams”…. I am sorry, this does not happen many times. Look at the last 10 years of YJ A and B team goalies and the A team goalies go to the better lax programs almost every time. I have not seen the goalie in question, but hope is is great for Stanford.

Not all recruits going to the top 10-15 schools are equal. If they take 7-8 recruits, a couple at the back end are generally not top recruits. You cannot just take the school and say see, it proves she was a top recruit.

The Jesters have 6 commits and YJ have around 8. They must have very small rosters if that's half of their commits.

I think at this point of the process all three are doing very well. Long Island seems to have some great representation at the 2023 level.

When is Long Island going to realize there is a big wide world of athletes out there? You guys are so small minded.

As a LIer, I will admit that what Grizzlies has done is impressive. 15 from 1 team shows how much coaches value the program. Maybe not top lax schools, but they’re top academic schools that would not be easy to get into without lax.

"Yes, that’s great, but the discussion is about the LI teams. I think if you look at the quality of the commits, TG has the edge"

Are you aware that the majority of Grizzlies girls are extremely wealthy and are paying full price at the 80k schools they’re going to? That’s great for them since they can clearly afford it. Grizzlies also work off a different model than the LI clubs. They’re roster is double the size and they rotate who attends tournaments.
