Who cares? It is what it is. Does it really affect your life that much to petition it? If so maybe sign Johnny up for another sport for your own well being. Practices started this weekend so we shall see who has improved and which clubs just took peoples money....

Sad thing in this whole age based vs grade issue is PAL, who promotes fair competition, etc etc is grade based? They should at least go age based, but for some reason they don’t. Would love to hear from PAL reps as to why? They actually brought this to a vote about 10 years ago and it was not passed. Who makes these decisions? It Needs to change to age base. Parents should petition Why would they? The governing body for USA Lacrosse doesn't even have a clear stance on the issue.

My son is playing football right now. He'll go to lacrosse stuff when he has time but football is his focus for these couple months out of the year.

The answer is because schools recruit based on grad year, not age. So as bad as it is, it's actually reality. College coaches don't care what age you are when you graduate. So actually makes sense.

I was once told that, to maintain numbers and grow the game its best to have kids play with their friends/peers. Friends/peers are usually in the same grade. The reason it will NEVER change is down to recruiting. College coaches dont care how old you are. That said, they do know a kid who is only getting the advantage because of the extra year and when comparing to a kid on age performing at the same level they will take the on age kid because there is more upside. The top echelon holdbacks light it up and would generally be very good on age anyway.

How do you get invite to Showtime are they given out by the club If your son doesn’t play for one of the bigger reputable clubs his chances are very low. This is all done on the club level. ALL these clubs have turned youth lacrosse into a cesspool. Reputable owners are few and far between. They are all trying to promote their brand and cash out. Bitter yes, but more disappointed at how little loyalty or respect these clubs show families and children. My oldest now almost done with college came in at the tail end. The kids he plays with are from all over the country and can't believe what is going on around us. This isn't college and most of them will never play college ball. Gone are the days when kids used to play with their friends and DEVELOPE into great teams. Can't wait to hear what all the haters have to say about this post.

Had my kids play for the good teams with connections, they played in college, not that hard. Two played for major brands and the other for a niche team.

My son plays for a team where the core boys, the starters, have been more or less the same for 4 or so years now. They've really developed together and have great chemistry. My son could play for a "bigger" club but there's something to be said for loyalty and learning the value of working toward something instead of just plugging yourself into an already great team. Hard work is what gets you ahead in life, not bouncing around for greener pastures all the time.

Hard work is what gets you ahead in life, not bouncing around for greener pastures all the time. Correct and same for my daughters and sons teams in upstate ny. All the top teams they play are the same. Most of the top kids have played together for a long while and develop with good coaching. Some good new talent comes in over the years but the core is the same. Only the kids who do not work hard or trouble parents get cut. Anyone complaining about development and isnt any good and loses a lot is just a bad group and run away. Results matter in life and lax.

Can we talk about Igloo? The 2025 B team imploded after last season with good reason. So this year instead of folding that disaster of a program they kept the remaining players and combined them with their current A group. They also added a few journeymen (5 teams in 5 years) to their roster of 50. I feel terrible for our friends that stayed. We couldn't get away from that guy fast enough. In a dirty business with zero oversight he has become the worst of the worst. I guess as long as people are shelling out he'll keep getting away with it. For a program that hasn't won anything it's mind boggling that people still want to play there. Maybe for another forum but how are they even getting away with having a WSYL only program separate from their 2027 program? That guy has really hit a new low and is trying to drag the rest of the Long Island programs down with him. Hopefully they don't follow and WSYL shuts him down.

Igloo is in a death spiral. How would you like to attend a 40-45 kid joint practice with 3 coaches where they dont even tell you which kids are on the A or B team? The director tries selling the parents "recruiting" but no kid will get recruited if they are NOT being developed. Some parents, mainly the green ones, will eat that BS up.
Not sure why anyone stays there other than the cool powder blue or the "bragging rights" (Oh wait...What have they won in the past 5 years?) And what are the parents thinking? They all got hosed... Shame on them. Bad business. It just takes 1 parent to make a stand though.
Forcegloo has become WritethecheckGloo.
So far it seems many clubs are off to a bad start after first week of practices.

So far it seems many clubs are off to a bad start after first week of practices. How would you like to be one of the 35 selected for an Igloo 2027 WSYL team from players all over LI. Keep in mind that the final roster only allows 24 kids. Oh wait, he did that to kids last year too. Now also keep in mind this is totally separate team and additional expense than the 2027 Igloo Kodiak Rush. Igloo can justify it any way they want, age eligible, other programs do it, Maryland does it, blah, blah, blah. For a program that used to advertise a different mission statement and being the anti-travel team. They are not anti anything. They are pro money, period. It begs the question is it really AA or does his advisory board have a financial stake in all these poor decisions. Sure seems like it.

As long as the parents continue to let the program undress them...... It's still a Total Bush-league move by organization but noone is forcing the parents, or worse, the kids, to stay for the privilege of being abused.... "Just say No" and find another team. Arent there like 50 + these days? Oh wait...Id rather pay $5k for an "A" team and never have my kid set foot on the field. Great thought process....NOT

I know every situation is different for everyone but at some point people need to stop letting these clubs fleece them. Look for a Non "Name" club that actually cares about lacrosse and the kids playing it.
If the director just "sprang" it on people they should "spring it back" and get their $ back. "If I stay in this house and get punched in the face every day its better than not having a roof over my head" Seriously? Ask people that got punched how that turned out in the long run. Your kid wont even be playing lacrosse in 2 years under that type of program.
