Coaches leaving at PVI, DeMatha, Landon, and Gonzaga, What gives? I won't count the Heights because that coach moved to DeMatha and his brother took over.

Three of the four coaches had been coaching for twenty years.
That’s a long time!
Also, look at the people who post here. It has to be hard to work with some of these people.

Wow! 2-3 compared to 5-6? Not that big of a difference. Definitely not worth the 120k private school tuition with those odds. Looks like you’re the one that has to control your kid’s expectations.

I guess you don’t think your kid would make the cut in a public school. I know many more than 2 or 3. I guess they are just extra special.

You seem to be extra special too.

If a kid can really play it doesn't matter where he goes to HS. The good college programs will find him.
If he needs extra help to be seen, or needs an "extra year to get up to speed academically" (and athletically) the privates are the way to go.

Bingo. If you are good enough, the coaches will find you, no matter the high school or club.

You sound like a 6th grader. Remind us what school you played at so I dont send my kid there.

Unfortunately college coaches at the higher level wont see your son unless he plays on a top level area club team that plays in the top tournaments and can get you into the invite only show cases where the club has influence.

I never saw as many college coaches as I did at NHSLS. SJC v Chaminade was ridiculous.

Public/Private or Top Club/Fun Club matters, but only for the bubble kids. A kid who is legit top 20-30 at his position will be found regardless. It's the kids who are near the bottom of the D1 scale who benefit from the added exposure, or suffer from lack thereof.

Since the D1 athletic "scholarships" are almost always 1/4 scholarships, they don't help that much with costs (but every little bit helps). The real "payoff" for lacrosse is being able to get into a college you would be unable to get into based solely on your grades and other extracurricular activities. The best case is getting into a great D1 academic school that also plays lacrosse. After that, you need to decide if playing D1 at a lower academic school is better than D3 at a great academic school. (Is 4 years playing lacrosse more important than a top education?).

Here are the top academic D1 schools with lacrosse and their 2021 acceptance rates (source - Education Corner) :
Harvard University 5.4%
Yale University 6.3%
Princeton University 6.5%
United States Naval Academy 9%
Brown University 9.3%
University of Pennsylvania 9.4%
United States Military Academy 10%
Dartmouth College 10.6%
Duke University 10.8%
Johns Hopkins University 12.8%
Cornell University 14.1%
United States Air Force Academy 16.6%
Georgetown University 17.4%
University of Notre Dame 21.5%
Colgate University 26.1%
University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill 28.5%
University of Virginia 29%
Hampton University 29.1%
Lafayette College 29.8%
Bucknell University 30.7%
University of Richmond 31.9%
University of Michigan–Ann Arbor 32.3%

Here are the top academic D3 schools with lacrosse that are just as hard to get into as the top D1 schools and acceptance rates:
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) 7.9%
Amherst College 13.7%
Bowdoin College 14.8%
Swarthmore College 17%
Middlebury College 17.3%
Tufts University 17.3%
Colorado College 18%
United States Coast Guard Academy 18.1%
Williams College 19.4%
Washington and Lee University 19.6%
United States Merchant Marine Academy 22.4%
Vassar College 23.5%
Wesleyan University 23.9%
Haverford College 24.7%
Kenyon College 25.1%
Bates College 25.4%
Babson College 26.4%
Hamilton College 26.4%
Colby College 28.1%
Trinity College 33%

What I have been saying. If you are good, they will find you no matter where you play. Public, private, good club, bad club. So just work on getting better.

2022 notes:
MD Best attack in the league? They should win it all.
CH With the largest program/school population in the league, should be in the "Hunt."
AS Good class of SRs. But they wont surprise anyone this year. How is team chemistry?
BL Solid coaching and above average talent. Should be in the conversation again in 2022.
SM alums will be complaining about something this year. What will it be?
LB Did less with more last year. How do they do more with less in 2022?
MSJ Record didn't show it, but a tough team. New coach seems on the right path. Expect an improvement.
JC See MSJ. Good class of SRs.
S Tough to compete with StM attracting all the county talent. Even harder to compete with AS buying up the rest.
G Transition year under a new coaching staff.
SP Transition year under a new coaching staff.

McD will be ok but not as good as last year very little depth which is what killed them last year. Terrible offensive coaches. How can a team with their resource have never won a championship under current coach and staff. Very weak at midfield. Non of the younger players ready to step up.
BL will be solid lots of talent back
LB need a new coach and staff. Head coach is terrible and can’t jerks talent. Example last year.
Gilman will be the surprise. Loads of young (soph)
talent and pick up some more from out of state. Best goalie in the league but no back up ( could be scary bad if they have to go to a back up). Could be most athletic team in conference
Spaulding should be good but waiting to implode

Everyone else the same with St P getting worse each year and now a B conference program.

Is this in order? That would be something if the 2 bottom dwellers MSJ and JC who combined to win 1 game last year finish ahead of several schools. Would be amazing if one of them made a 6 team playoff. How has the new MSJ coach done with recruiting? How did the JC staff do now that they are recruiting As an A conference program? Why do you think Gilman and StPauls are falling off like this?

Spalding will win the conference. The addition of the St. John’s middie along with the other transfers will put them in a position to go undefeated.

If this list is in order then it is way off and the poster is clueless.

Hard to differentiate between BL, McD, CHC, and AS. All really good. Any of them can win it.

LB, Severn, St. Mary’s, and Gilman are in the next group. I like Severn in this group but any one of these teams could be the 5 seed.

I agree that MSJ is a tough out. Could surprise someone. In the end, won’t win enough games. Love the coaching on this team.

JC and SP are bottom feeders in this league. I have a hard time seeing either one of them winning more than two games. SP is the better of the two.

McD has best incoming 2025 class by far
CH will reload with some transfers and has some 2025 talent also
BL may have some boarders coming?
AS days of relevance almost over

So the kid left to go to Spalding, and was never admitted? Seems like a large oversight.

Why is no one talking about the Culver kid who just enrolled at Calvert Hall?
How does the MIA allow BK to have a host family every year?

Due to the fact that it is allowed, Well technically it isnt, but all teams do it...so problem solved

Every year there is some team with recruit, transfer, overage player... No one cares as long as it isnt out of control..

CHC had to replace the Avon Old Farms hired gun that aged out after one year in the league. He’ll play his senior season up north.

Only way you age out is double holdback in MIAA,,,Posters here say Sasquatch is more likely to play in the MIAA than the mystical Double holdback

Not a fan at all of any of it but those that think Booster clubs or sponsers giving money for athletes has not been happening the since the begining of time are silly. Just likle the holdback issue in this sport and all other sports. The difference is some know how to play the game better than others. We have to remember AS is new the scene as far MIAA A lacrossse and without Hawks 22 team they would still be lost in their old ways of losing ! losing games, losing players, losing sponsors and boosters.Problem now is that once its exposed(sloppiness) it shines light to the other schools whom had a great thing going for decades in this league. Right or wrong its the same thing that happened with Hawks 22 team over the years and most of the Hawks teams at the high school level.Crabs and FCA are the same. Who plays the behind the scenes better? If you cant beat them, lets recruit them. All schools and clubs do it but some do it better than others. If building an all star team is the only way to be successful than have it. Many lessons learned for those not along for that ride.Good life lessons.Even more silly is SJC crying foul with half their roster not even paying for gas money to and from school. So, again some do it better and have been for decades and others (fairly new to the scene) (AS and SJC) are sloppy and expsose themselves for thinking they might have just an ounce of Integrity. Baltimore schools has had this advantage for ever, especially over the AA county MIAA schools.

I heard if you are a starter at SJ Kevin Plank gives you an envelope after every game that covers your gas money for the year.

Funny.
This is all one big F-U. No one is crying foul or speaking about integrity. Only Dave talks about integrity and he has zero. Cleary why he is paired with the assistant coach. Dancing circus monkey.

So dense. Plank isn’t even involved when it comes to St. John’s lacrosse except for funds towards all athletic facilities. He gives a ton to the football program. St. John’s knows how to recruit athletes. Football, Basketball, Baseball, and now Lacrosse. They don’t have some assistant coach or some lacrosse Icon like Cottle running around offering families money and giving out empty promises on the sidelines.

How do you not even have admissions approval for a player to transfer before you go telling him to leave his current school? Sloppy? I’d say more like ignorance or arrogance. Get on the same page before you ruin another players HS experience.
