Nike MD 22's lost key players from last yr's champ team, including star Calvert Hall attack (injured), Boys Latin star (injured), talented mid, defender, and SSDM from St Johns (played DMV) and Georgetown Prep FOGO (played DMV). MD 22 still made it to semis and lost by one on late tie breaking goal. Setting personalities aside, the team performed very well, all things considered.

No, the 22's lost in the quarter finals to New England 9/8. Problem with this years team, no real tryouts and way too many SG players on this team. I'm surprised that AH put up with this but you know who was also a coach, LD himself and who knows what went on with him around.
They should have had open tryouts and would have probably come up with a stronger more competitive team.

His coaching was stale and he couldnt win games against any of the better MIAA teams. His offense of weaves was from the 90's. He needed to go.

Towson beat St P? LOL,,

Anyone with any lacrosse knowledge knows these tryouts are what they are. Majority of team is picked from who you know with a few unknows thrown in. UA could just as easily send invites out to the picked players and ask around for the few unknowns, but we all know that wouldn't generate the big tryout money or sponsors...or chatter .. Pretty go business model.

And spare me the excuse stuff. My son will make the team . If you a good player from a private school , good club and know coach...Man your odds are good. Just the way it is. LOL

Where are the 7 committed?
Rough riders run by Corrigan-pathetic. Kids aren’t trying out for UA around here anymore-it’s a joke

Corrigans brother runs Rough Riders-
22 Rough Rider team is very talented and most of those players make teams like this every year-
All 7 players are playing D-1 lacrosse
Is it a shock to you that Phipps/LD/Hawks are not stacked on this years team- or Kelly/FCa/CalvertHall are stacked on
team
Seems like they took the best players that showed up to tryouts - I’m sure with a few that didn’t-
While the other anointed players were busy losing again at Nike and committed games representing Baltimore- just like they did last year-

Spin away, UA tryouts are what they are now, Even Ray Charles can see what they have become. ..3-5 open spots for actual tryouts. Rest is who you know. Not that they arent good players, but its billed as a true tryout LOL..

No spin needed. the 7 D1 committed players showed up tryouts, played well, and made the team. Why don’t you start judging after you see how they do in the games.

Why? Was your kid playing there? Please explain. Hopefully it’s not just your pathetic bitter jealousy of tom ripley because that garbage is played out on here (and I don’t even like the guy). He’s rich, his kid is pretty solid (and is a good kid) and you’re just an anonymous internet whiner.

This session was an absolute joke with little to no college representation. Any MIAA school attending that should be embarrassed.

I thought Sports was played by players to have fun and parents to enjoy watching their child ? I guess that is gone along with on age youth lacrosse.

No Shriver should be embarrassed. Watering the tourney down to make a buck.
It was good the firet few years, but has gotten lame. Like all good things, they must come to an an end.

The real session wasn’t watered down. Schools decide what session to play in. If they played in the pink session they knew going in it was weak.

The one session wasn’t watered down. But the other 2 varsity sessions are.

The guy calling it the pink session is the only one who seems
to care. For what reason, I have no clue. Lots of complainers here. Most who probably never played the game at a high level.

2021season for the MIAA was a joke. Most of the schools only played league games, all teams made the playoffs, games cancelled for COVID. Let’s hope 22 is a bit more normal.

At least they got an opportunity to play, much better than the 2020 season, which didn't happen. To say it was a "joke" is pure bs and I'm sure all the players are happy for the opportunity. It is better than no season, which could have easily happened.

Really interesting to see the results from the last couple of tournaments for the '23 Hawks and Crabs. Both teams have gone down the path of adding older out of state players instead of actually coaching and developing their existing players and both have gotten spanked in tournament play. Wonder what their plans will be for next year?

Win Baby, Win . The cat is out of bag in MIAA. Not enough true athletes in MIAA lacrosse to compete against teams that have them. holdback advantage is nil now as all MIAA schools eventually went that route. Now the schools with out of state athletes will/are at top of heap ( CH for three straight Titles) . Several schools this year along with clubs are bringing in out of town Athletes to compete.

Like the coach always says...cant teach speed and athleticism.

Well both of these clubs brought in out of state athletes who were older, bigger, faster, stronger and they still lost big time this summer. To me that means sub par coaching.

At this age creating team culture and coaching (developing) your players is what creates a winning team.

Correct, Crabs 2023 is loaded with strong talented players but they have less than strong coaching. This team is scouted by other teams and they figure how to challenge them. When this happens Crabs coaching staff are not able to figure out a different game plan and the result is a loss. Good coaches are able to change their game plan, explain it clearly and the players execute the change. Carl's staff leaves it to the players to figure it out and that is not going to happen with any team and 16 year old players.

Agree, But MIAA coaches are not agreeing with us. If rumors are correct, next year will be interesting with these out of state players.

Agreed. Coach Mac on 2023 Crabs has won mainly due to holdbacks over the years. Not so sure about him and his staff when it comes to the X's & O's in a close game. Now he is trying to get an advantage by recruiting out of towners to the BL boarding school-even if it means displacing local talent that has been on the team for a while.

Those out of towners are just thirstier and I cant exactly put my finger on it, but they're so pretentious about lacrosse. They'll do anything to go division 1 for lacrosse. Gives me Aunt Becky vibes.

The UA event and rosters are incredibly watered down this year - King Crab and his National All Star Games took a toll on Corrigan's event.
