ummm.... I'm the parent of a player on one of the high school M&D teams and yes I ABSOLUTELY DO care that we're not participating in the G8. While no other teams will care the M&D isnt there - I can tell you the parents of 22,23, & 24 M&D players care. It's very disappointing. Especially for the 23's. Hopefully M&D will swallow their pride and rectify this by next year.
I’m sure the M&D parents were mad when the YJ team blew off its last 3 tourneys. Guess what no one cares.[/quote]

Any word on why M&D is not at G8 next week? Looks like they are at a terrible tourney with none of the top teams. Missing a big recruiting event for the 22/23s. CR did not want to support the tournament. Simple as that. How about supporting the girls who play for your club and get them in big tournaments. These directors can be so petty

What was the explanation? A scheduling conflict? A conflict with a competing tourney?

What was the explanation? A scheduling conflict? A conflict with a competing tourney? As someone pointed out above, you don't need to worry about it if you're not an M&D parent. CR heard the concerns and he addressed them. Things didn't work out like he thought they would. End of story.

CR heard the concerns and he addressed them. Things didn't work out like he thought they would. End of story. Right. Due to his ego he thought he could convince other clubs to drop from G8 and attend the second rate tournament he is making M&D go to this weekend. So like you said, things didn't work out like he thought they would. So he screwed over the 2023 kids because he felt like Steps didn't support his tournaments and he thought he could get other clubs to agree with him. While that is an explanation for why things happened I can't really imagine why anyone would be ok with it.

Most certainly not the 23's since they are traveling to play against 2 teams during major recruiting summer. Obviously a major disaster on his part.

Fierce competition for your club dollars. These large tournaments get set in stone and are huge cash cows. Maybe G8 is small enough to break it up. It's exclusivity could be its downfall. If I was G8 I would expand to lock the date on the calendar. Call it the G12 or G16 who cares.

G8 is the best tournament of the summer because it is invite only and there is only top teams there. The coaches flock to that event. It's played in one location with all the fields side by side so it's very easy for the coaches to switch fields at halftime. It's not limited to 8 clubs anymore. If anything G8 is more a glimpse of the future than something that will fail.

Looks like the mighty YJ A team at 2025 lost to Heros! So don’t believe anyone is knocking off MND and Heros down.

DMV rankings near end of summer season top 10! 1.M&D- playing great 2.Hero's big last win vs Spalina but getting beat somewhat frequently. 3. Skywalkers- improving 4. Pride- quiet summer trending down. 5.Hoco- trending up with some big wins on resume 6. NEMS- hitting a rough patch 7. Md United east- poor form recently 8. Skywalkers White- stepping up in class impressed with how far they have come. 9. Coppermine 10. M&D red, LBC, Hero's white, 3d Frederick?

So I guess since the YJ B team beat both Hero's and MnD, are they the number 1 team in the country? If so that would bump spalina's team to 4.

I guess we should move up Primetime and Salt City since they beat YJ B this weekend. So maybe YJ B is now the 3rd rank team in the country. Shorten games shouldn't be included in any rankings. They are not a true barometer of how good a team is. They don't play 1 half in the super bowl? 5 innings in the World Series?

7. MD United is generous. (Md United parent here) Team imploded 3-4 weeks ago when 2022 East coach (has been phasing in to take over 2025 team during the winter/spring) left and went back to 2022 East team for final summer tournaments. Lots of good athletes that will benefit from consistent coaching starting this week during tryouts.

Skywalkers improving? Their white team plays tougher opponents at tourneys then they do. The Blue team is coddled. Skywalkers White? They won 3 games, all summer playing in the top pools, and getting hammered. They should drop back down to the B pool.

MD United Parent here. - One obnoxious Dad who berated the Coach in Pa got his daughter kicked off. Poor girl was crying and wanted to stay. Good for Club Dir to finally kick the a**hole Dad off team. Been kicked out of two games already last season. Dad had daughter kicked off of previous club teams on Eastern Shore before. - One Dad who thinks his daughter (former LBC) is the best draw girls on the team (stats prove otherwise) and yelled at the other team girls after one coach told him why his daughter wasn't playing much. (Not doing what they asked of her). Another Dad gets his daughter kicked off team. (btw like 99% of the parents, everyone thinks their kid is the best too :-) ) - Two girls (twins) moved to Florida a couple of weeks ago. - One girl left months ago b/c didn't like playing time. New coach (from 2022 team) should help starting this week. Existing kids are excited to have him coming back. We will see in the Fall!

Would like to see stats of girls who consistently do the draw. -Two girls moved to FL but quit team before due to other issues on the team. -Girl left because of playing time - true

Hard to have a good team when one player thinks they are the entire team and their parents thinking they have control over the coaches. Team consistently got worse and didn’t change things up to allow all the girls to be successful.

Based on the MD United Parents response, I don’t think anybody needs to ask why kids are leaving. They mentioned items that only a coach or director should know. Parents should not be privy to some of the accusations that parent made.
It is rare for 1 or maybe 2 kids to leave a team mid season. If that does happen, probably chalk it up to not being a good fit. But when 5 or 6 kids leave (based on the list above) typically there is some bigger going on.

Amazing how parents can harm their kids like that all while thinking they have their best interest.
