Yes! It’s a definite game changer. Shame on section XI for not doing their job.

When two teams pretty evenly matched and one gets home field advantage , it gives them an edge. I feel all Championship games should be played on a neutral field.

Then throw in the awful officiating in that Smithtown/Northport game and those SE girls were up against it. A string of calls starting with 5 minutes left in the 1st half let Northport erase a 6-2 deficit and got them back in the game. At one point, calls had to be 12-1 against SE, insane. Carol was working those refs all game, at least they'll stay on the summer circuit ref schedule now, a shame it came at the expense of 7 seniors on SE that have been YJ since 6th grade. 3 that she personally coached.

Kudos to the NPT goalie, she made 3 clutch saves with under 3 minutes left, huge stops. Anyway, on to college lacrosse for us. Enjoy your summers.

Agree! Refs stopped critical fast break, Let NP girl get away with hitting ST girl in head (she was even bleeding), called draw early on ST when NP girl moved first, let NP girl run out of bounds with ball, then called a push after she ran back in and got pushed with under a minute in game. The refs handed NP that game, SE was man down for 6min for absolute nonsense.. Even id they scored in final seconds, the refs certainly would have called the goal back. Was just ridiculous and would have been a different game at a neutral location! Other than that, I hope NP demolishes Pequa! .
doubt it. cupcake schedules that Suffolk has.

Maybe. 5 yellow cards from the same official? There were 3 on the field. For 20 minutes in 2nd half SS was down a player….then at 8 minutes a second player. GC has a very good team…but the officials made it almost impossible for SS to attempt any type of comeback. The officiating in girls lacrosse as a whole is maddening.

Would also be great to have some sort of nassau/ suffolk tournament of champs at the beginning of the season like they do in college bball ( Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Mich State). Maybe take the champs from prior year as a starting point

Agreed that some preseason tournament among LI or even Westchester, upstate teams should happen. Not sure when High schools from neighboring states will allow for intrastate travel. There used to be the Brain for Drain tournament in Cold Spring Harbor that used to occur that had some really good matchups. Need something like that but for NY.

Nassau has a power conference for the season. The top 10 teams are in the power conference regardless of their class. Once the season is over they all go back to their respective class for playoffs. Also, every team in the power conference makes the postseason regardless of their overall record. As an example, Massapequa has a season record under .500 but won the Class A section championship. Class A in Nassau seems on face value to be the weakest class this year All 4 teams in the playoffs were under .500. With that being said they played a tough schedule (power conference). Cold Spring Harbor may have a losing record but Center Moriches better bring their "A" game...their winning record is far from impressive.

Thanks for the explanation. Make sense to have this. Just took a peak at the suffolk “Divisions” and goodness 22 teams in Div 1 and 24 team in Div 2. Doesn’t seem like they get much of a test during regular season.

Division one in Suffolk County weekest it’s been in 10 years.
Div two lots of parity and very good teams. If you’re seated top six your not having an easy schedule. Strength of schedule is big. West Islip finished seventh in the B class. They beat west Babylon and Mount Sinai. Only top six make playoffs no playoffs for them.

Suffolk is power points - the best play best, top 10 all play each other in their respective divisions (I and II) essentially the same thing as a power conference.

BBP Only has 3 seniors and 4 juniors. Rest of starters are Sophmores and they are deep and extremely talented. Goalie is a sophomore and an absolute stud! The Freshman and Eighth graders on the varsity are deep as well, BBP is about to go on a long term run!

And you were saying??? Looks like it was Nassau with the weak schedule. Pequa was never in this game. NP controls all aspects. Top 5 teams in Suffolk would beat Pequa.

Ok, WB played a weak schedule all season. Showed today. Stat padders looked like JV player. Amazing how dome players look so good playing weak competition and then are exposed. GC putting on a clinic!

Suffolk Class D not in the same caliber of play. CSH was an overmatch. Garden City on paper better than West Babylon. Not surprised by outcomes. Northport’ s tougher game was Smithtown in the Suffolk finals but Massapequa was game today. A good outing.

BPP vs Manhasset was a great game. Watching Manhasset playoff games didn’t really show you how good their defense is. They played down to Wantagh (no offense to Wantagh) in a game that shouldn’t have been that close. BPP a tremendous team and the defense and goalie play incredible. Manhasset showed defense though today. 2-1 BPP half score turned into a 5-2 Manhasset edge. But BPP capitalized on a bad yellow card (it was a correct call by the official) and played a great last 5 of 6 minutes. The last minute, with turnovers and a last second shot, is edge of the seat stuff.

Let’s get back to states next year! Enjoy the rest of your summer! Have fun at tournaments!

Center Moriches and their 2 80+ point scorers do not belong on this list. When your coach requested the lowest seed in D2 and you play the weakest schedule you get this. Inflated stats for your players and beat downs when you play real teams.

CSH has been class C for years and has won states for two years in a row. They moved down to class D because of their enrollment and it was an overmatch for CM. Nonetheless, CM has proven time and time again that they won in their own division and won against teams ranked higher than them as well.

you are not even allowed to request a lower division. CM not only won in their class but beat bellport, kings park, and improved on all of their scores from the 2019 season against teams they lost horribly to. please learn what you are talking about before trying to discredit the team.

Center moriches has improved on every level since the last time they played as a team. After being ranked almost last to beating teams in their class and out of their class, why discredit the girls after working so hard the entire season? You can’t just sit there and say that after CM had gotten so much better and competed this year.

I have no team in the fight. Appears the team had a great season just a tough way to end it with a large loss. Someone mentioned on here that many on the team were juniors and below. Hope the team is able to get some good non conference opponents on the schedule (or even scrimmages) for next year so as to not be caught off guard if CM makes it to the finals. It’s a bad look if the girls are not ready for post season games seeing what just happened in the finals..

Manhasset enrollment actually dropping from 764 to 728 next year.

The cutoff for B was 775 this year would take a very large change in the classification cutoffs for Manhasset to move back to B.

It is so easy to anonymously bash someone on social media. you are obviously completely ignorant as to the process of ranking. CM has been listed at 23 the past few years. You can't request lower then the bottom of the division and coaches vote so if you don't deserve to be in the spot they are in they don't get it. Nothing blew up in anyone's face they won what they set out to win counties. Why do you care so much? Nobody on CM is saying anything about competing with any other divisions or with any of the other teams or that they are better then anyone else. Stop the bashing it is literally ridiculous at this point. And for the person that said CHS is not good. I believe they won in the C division 2 years in a row. That makes them not good?

Both teams beat them the second time around, including a Manhasset 20-9 beat down. Talent-wise they played down to Wantagh in the championship game.

Agreed! They would be triple downed and on a running clock against any of the other teams. The runner ups and second runner ups should all be ahead, way ahead of them. Glad they had a fairy season, but lets use some common sense!

He absolutely did not this is someone just obviously trying to start trouble. CM was either 22 or 23. I believe he requested higher then the team even got. You can't be lower then the bottom. Doesn't even make sense.
