How about McDonagh beating the Stone Ridge team 11/10 in OT. A round of applause for the homer stripes. SR down a man for much of the 4th and down 2 in OT. Would not have been close in a neutral. Give #34 a whistle as she was calling the game for the stripes. What a joke. Overrated!!! Agreed. They escaped with help from the stripes. I see them losing 2-3 games in the IAAM.... to SPG, NDP, and possibly GCS. read the Sun article on this game. No mention of Stone Ridge playing down 1 for the last 6 minutes and down 2 for OT. You would think McD just pulled off the great upset. The way the Sun drools over McD and SPSG you would never know there are 12 other IAAM teams Today was the first article the Sun has written on SPSG all year so not sure how they got lumped into your post. the first of many this year. The Sun has a lot of catching up to do now that SPSG is back playing to go along with the weekly McD article

McD is not overrated. They have deserved every bit of the spotlight all these years, and maybe even more so this year because they are still winning without all of the powerhouses from the last two years. But yesterday McD won because of the man down and two man down situations SR was in the last 8 minutes of the game and OT. Had SR been full strength, the game would not have gone into OT. McD played a more dramatic game the second half in order to draw calls and cards and it worked, especially inside the 12m.

Agree. Very biased article.

it was the fall october play date tournament, but spsg beat stm by nearly 10. they will come back to earth when they play the top 6 schools. You mean like losing 19-10 to Bryn Mawr?

I wouldn't be surprised if McD swept as I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. I would say any given Sunday to the top 4 teams, who ever those teams may be. One thing that will be no surprise, is these matchups will surely make for some great lacrosse.

There is so much talent out there and its now all spread out and continuing to spread which makes for more competitive games which make for great lacrosse. Good luck out there today.

Good talent out there but I think NDP edges out slightly. Their D is the tie breaker, extremely high pressure and in your face coverage making it extremely challenging for even some of the best offenses, almost Syracuse like.

SPSG defeated GCS yesterday. Game was not even close. Completely outplayed and out-coached. Lots of individual talent that does not appear to be cohesive against talented teams.

SPSG mom/dad or not, it is an accurate analysis of the game and the teams. GCS is a talented team, individually. SPSG completely dominated and out-coached.

After this loaded 21 class where MG brought in most of her club, they will be back down to where they have been the past 4 years, middle of the pack in IAAM. Looks like most of their scorers for SPSG were seniors.

SP started winning the draw and in lacrosse you win the draw (or faceoff in boys lax) you control the game. SP had 3 girls that could win the draw. What happened on the first 3 draws of the game?..GCS won the draw and was up 3-0. After that SP started winning the draws and the game reversed course. Learn the game of lacrosse and stop being obtuse. Once again please explain where GCS was out coached?

Since 2017 (the year GCS came into the IAAM "A" Conference) Here are the top teams by conf record (Win/Loss). Not counting this year McD- 37-0 NDP-30-7 GCS-28-9 Spalding- 26-11 SPSG- 19-18 I guess MG just learned to coach this year and the GCS coach forgot??

And back where they were the past 4 years do you mean losing in double OT in the finals two years ago and losing to McD in semis 3 years ago? Not too bad if that's the case. They get almost as many goals from sophs as they do from seniors.

It appears a GCS parent or coach got their feelings hurt. Had to look up stats since 2017. Even coaches have a bad game. Need a thick skin to coach in this league.

One thing you should probably know, or are forgetting, is that most posts on here that appear to be from parents of a certain school aren't. Most boastful posts are just people feeding trolls and trying to start up s*#@. No SPSG parent would say that BR got out coached yesterday. The draws were the difference in the game. The game got away from GCS in second half. So if someone said that they probably weren't at the game. Lots of good teams and good games. Tomorrow should be another one.

If MG loses and fails to make adjustments, then she is out coaches. It happens to the best of coaches to get out coached. Even professional coaches admit when it happens.
To answer the GCS coach or parent that keeps asking:
1. SPSG lost the first 3 draws and then made adjustments to win draw. That is 1st example.
2. GCS couldn’t contain SPSG offensive threats. It’s called face guarding. That is 2nd example. 3. GCS runs same offense over and over. Leads to missed opportunities. Defense figure out that one girl feeds from X. That is the 3rd example.
4. If the game is getting away, substitution of players might be an option. Keeping same girls on the field when it’s not working is a recipe for disaster. That is 4th example.
Sorry coach BR, you didn’t have your best game in the coaching box.

Sorry coach BR, you didn’t have your best game in the coaching box. See below: 1. SPSG lost the first 3 draws and then made adjustments to win draw. That is 1st example. SPSG has 3 players to use for the draw. GCS and most schools does not. Even MG said that having 3 is an advantage that most teams do not have. This has nothing to do with coaching 2. GCS couldn’t contain SPSG offensive threats. It’s called face guarding. That is 2nd example. Face guarding is when you shut a player off completely (what teams used to do to Megan Whittle) You cannot face guard multiple players at the same time. you run the D that best fits the personnel on your team. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. 3. GCS runs same offense over and over. Leads to missed opportunities. Defense figure out that one girl feeds from X. That is the 3rd example. Once again, you run the offense that best fits your personnel. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. 4. If the game is getting away, substitution of players might be an option. Keeping same girls on the field when it’s not working is a recipe for disaster. That is 4th example. Obviously you did not look at the number of players that GCS carries on varsity. They only carry around 20 so they can also field a JV team. GCS is a very small school( average class size around 80 students and also co-ed) and does not have the student-athlete population that SPSG, McD or NDP has to choose from. That said GCS has made the semi final each year they have been in the A Division with small rosters GCS was also missing a starting middie and attacker. When you have a small squad even a few injuries can make a big difference GCS did not play well as a team on Monday, but BR did not get out coached, GCS just got out played...it happens,

You asked for the examples. Don’t get your feelings hurt for being a student of the game and providing facts. Coaching is not easy. However a good coach not only evaluates players but themselves too. Coaches are not Gods. They make mistakes. Players play the game and the coach is the conductor. Equally talented teams, and I would say GCS and SPSG are equally talented, then it comes down to coaching. If the score would have been closer, then no comments would have been made. Yet, the game got away and coach did not adjust. Therefore, out-coached for the examples previously provided.

Weak examples of being outcoached. Draws are streaky and can be matchup oriented. Face guarding isn't a coaching adjustment, its the last gasp. Girls can simply execute better. Coaches see these kids in practice for 20 hrs a week and know their true colors. They know more than we do what they are capable of. "It's all about he Jennies and Joes, not X's and O's."

GCS has one senior starter, the remaining starters are junior and sophomores. Maybe inexperience may have had an impact on the game.
