Terps and Terps black both play A in tournaments, so your logic doesnt work... Both may play in A tournaments but clearly they are not on the same level. Is if fair to say that the addition of the Terps Black players improves the Terps? If you agree, then Terps get an unfair advantage. If you disagree, then Express is fielding 2 A team rosters while only using enough players for 1 3/4 A team rosters. Other teams would pull up players from the B teams to fill out the rosters. Again, Terps get an unfair advantage.

Terps and Terps black both play A in tournaments, so your logic doesnt work... Are they in the exact same tournaments? yes Umm, No. Many tournaments have an explicit rule against players playing on more than one roster. Go back to the beginning of this conversation - the Terps were in the finals at Lax Splash. According to the schedule on the web site Terps Black were not there. (They also list the rule where players can only be on one roster).

If your not involved .... Why are you so concerned? Also how are they playing down when they all play in the A bracket. Lastly why do you assume they are playing down? The boys that play both are on the Terps first and are black second. So if you can not grasp the concept and can only see it as playing up or down Then those boys would be playing up..... But you will turn it anyway you need so you can still grip. AGAIN GET A LIFE MOVE ON.

As we all know there is a line where you are good enough to be on an A team (and make it) but you are maybe not the best or do not get ample playing time on the A team but the practices and playing you do get are invaluable. So you stay on A. If the organization was smart they would ask these such kids to play on their other teams, this means they recognize your talents but also want you to play more because by playing more you get better no better substitute that playing time to make you a better player. and it is more fun You're right I shouldn't care. I guess I'm caught up in all the posts that go back an forth about whose on what team, who was missing from the roster when they lost, who was added to the roster when they won, who's paying once for twice as many games, whose paying once for less games, who got moved up because they complained, etc. It's like a fender bender on the LIE(xpress), you don't like the fact that people slow down to look but you can't look away either. Seriously though, one of the issues with youth sports has always been the controversy over players playing “down”, either in age or skill level, to give a team an unfair advantage. Accusations are always being made and defended. I think this topic rubs people the wrong way because Express is now openly having players play “down” on the Terps. It’s like a B level team entering a tournament in the B bracket and then bringing several A players with them. The other B teams would take acceptation. Additionally, given the size of the Express organization and the number of 2017 players that were at their tryouts, it’s hard to defend this practice. Having a flexible roster doesn’t appear to serve any purpose other than to give the Terps an unfair advantage. Now before anyone get’s their panties in a bunch, I’m not saying that any of the Terps or Terps Black players are not age appropriate nor am I saying the Terps are a B level team. Terps and Terps Black are two of the best teams at this age group. I’m simply saying having the flex roster that brings down players from the next level team gives them an advantage over many of the teams they play.

Terps and Terps black both play A in tournaments, so your logic doesnt work... Are they in the exact same tournaments? yes You are wrong. Just went to express website, Terps Black and Terps in completely different tournaments except their last one. Black scheduled tournaments seem to be tougher by far.

If they are convinced this is the "right" thing to do for (or to) their own kids, it's their business. When thei child is tossed from one team to another next year they may be singing a different tune! Can we get back to the rest of the 2017 kids please

All of you do not know the system or how it works, if you say yes you do it's here say. If there are actually Terp/Terp Black parents writing on here and saying this, I challenge you to call a TEAM MEETING with the coaches, parents and speak out in front of all, you know the schedule. If you are not capable of doing this you have 2 options....
1. Shut-up and enjoy watching your son play 2. Just leave if this is the way you feel

I bet the Terps will not answer this question Honestly. What do you all think will change? Will the organization right itself suddenly, and act with nothing but the kids' best interest in mind? Why post on this site anonymously, and name-call and argue, using initials to thinly disguise identities which we all are aware of? Move on. Go elsewhere. they aren't going to get you a spot unless you are VERY good. If he or she (your child) is, they will do just fine anywhere. Don't be taken. C'mon, you know better.

for all the people that can't read--please don't comment on my spelling--both teams pay in the A brackets at tournaments they join. So, there is no way anyone can consider their team in an A bracket at a disadtvantage.
Unless your child is on one of the teams, you have no gripe and move on.. for those on the teams, they have options next year but have probably already paid for this year...
leave it alone and start gossiping about something else..

Ya know, just a few years ago summer lacrosse at 14 was about playing tough competition and becoming a better lacrosse player. This whole terp thing is nuts, it doesn't mean anything. Pretty much NO 2017 is getting any college looks yet. Let it go, focus on getting your son better. If he becomes really great he'll play at Cham or St. A's, if not he won't play that much, yet he'll still go to a good school and will probably play lacrosse. RELAX try to enjoy it, before you know they'll be gone. Here's another tid bit, you don't have to be on the best team to get recruited!! The college coaches don't care who wins the games at the tournaments....

I was at the JDRF Tournament this past weekend and at least 6 or 7 Terp Black kids played for he Piranhas, so I would guess the Express program moves their stronger players around to give them more playing time and also make there less competitive teams stronger.

Yes, do read this thread. Seems to me the only contradictions are coming from non terp parents and their confusion. Way too many grown adults concerned about other people's business. There is nothing wrong with putting the best team on a field, period. Not every kid is an impact player.

who cares?? Some kids play for travel and town teams, some kids play for a few town teams, some players play for school and club teams, some kids have family obligations or other sports commitments, injuries, family work schedules, financial reasons. There are many many reasons why any given team needs to add players or move players around for any given reason at any given tournament.Who cares its only the business of that kid and his/her family! If you have something you don't like going on with your team them go to the coaches and directors and SPEAK up in person to the people that can help make the changes.Stop with the behind a computer screen complaining. It will not help anything!!!

The kids on the Express enjoy it. It is a competitive organization and true players love the challenge. The coaches do a great job in bringing the best out in each kid. There are no politics involved, just come and play hard and everything will work out fine.

If the teams play in the A brackets what do you care? You are upset because your team in the A bracket should have won? I can see your argument if they were playing in B brackets, but if they play A what is the problem? Not playing down. Playing down is when one team stacks good kids in a less competitive bracket. if you play A you want the best competition possible.
if your team is lossing by more than 10 goals to in the A brackets, the team belongs in B bracket. stop complaining and play in the appropriate bracket...

Again, ALL of LI lacrosse players tried out for travel teams last sept/oct. the coaches & these kids have been (or not) playing & practicing together for months. Every team has kids that have improved & some that have not improved. The coaches & the kids & the parents deal with that. ONLY in "Expressland" is it acceptable to have kids on a sliding scale all year long & parents justifying the "sharing" of players! It has never been ok & Ill never understand how you can argue that. Thea are children, not matter how competitive lacrosse can be there should always be a line between right & wrong.

There were more than 3 Terp Black players on the Piranhas and from what I could tell there was not a shortage of players, there were at least 20 kids in total. But who cares, I guess it is in Expresses best interest to ensure all their teams are competative thus bringing kids from their A to C team. The only people that should be disapointed are the Piranhas players that recieved less play time, as a parent I would not be too happy if this happened on my sons team.

It is in the best of interest's of all teams to play the best possible competition. So if there were Terp Black players sprinkled on various teams, that is only to the advantage of the opponents. They get to step their games up against better players and that is how they grow. So I think it is a helpful thing for everyone involved that Express has a flexible policy.
