So what school can get the best education in the miaa A B or C conference? A conference - toss up between McDonogh and Severn. Both are outstanding. B Conference - Friends by a mile C Conference - who knows, niche schools.

I have not looked recently but Gilman typically puts the most kids into the top colleges in the A Conf. McD and Severn are both coed as well. Agree on Friends in B. Look at the matriculation list of any decent public high school locally. The top kids in those schools are going to the academies and Ivies and other top notch schools. If kids are dedicated to academics, they make the school work for them.

Spaulding is more similar to JC in terms of cost, facilities and education plus both are co-ed. Calvert Hall and Loyola are far superior in terms of academics and facilities. You are crazy to think Calvert Hall or Loyola are "far Superior". Go back and ask your grandparents for tuition assistance, so you can still walk around with your quarter zip on. Calvert Hall is a well rounded school with kids from all over the city and Baltimore County. They have good sports but their demographic and is on par with Spalding and JC. Loyola is the same minus the fact that they stink in sports (minus lacrosse) and their parents need to beg the grandparents to help out with the extra 5k in tuition. They try to play up that they are so much better than other schools but really they are a much lesser tier and trying to pretend they are McDonough or Gilman. AACPS > Spalding I'm in AACo and I am looking at HS right now and Spalding has one of the best STEM programs around. Their facilitates are top notch as well. Growing up here I never put Spalding in high regard but I will say a lot has changed in the 25 yrs since I was that age and Spalding is much better than AACPS, especially given COVID has put all public schools behind. I personally like the feel of St Mary's but people keep telling me academics are not good. Anyone know if this is reality? A narrative pushed by a few guys who have a personal ax to grind with SM (typically due to them wanting to coach there at some point in time but not getting the call). I'd advise that you take into account the personal history and agendas of these people and then do your own research. There are a lot of great schools out there. Good luck!

The assertion was CHC and Loyola have superior ACADEMICS and FACILTIES compared to Spalding. Schools have different priorities and Spalding values lacrosse and football now - good for them. I hope the ROI is worth it at some point.....but doubt it. By the way, not unusual for 3 and now 4 generations of a family to attend a legacy school.

Why is there so much detest for Spalding? I mean isn't part of building a program recruiting players, coaches and building up facilities and booster funds? They seem to be doing a good job of that. Or are all of you Baltimore prep school cronies who still roll around wearing your alumni gear 30 years after you graduated and need to beg your parents to help pay your kids tuition feeling a little threatened? Spalding has one of the best football, soccer, and baseball programs in the region. Their basketball team was once the best in the area and is head back in that direction. Their girls sports are all ranked in the top 10. So why couldn't they do the same with lacrosse? Unless you live in Towson, Baltimore or along the 83 corridor all of the "traditional" schools are a pain to get to. The school is perfectly located for people in the Annapolis, HoCo, PG and South/West and East Baltimore. From a facilities, athletics, education and cost perspective, Spalding is equal to Calvert Hall, JC and Loyola. So why so much grief? It is just a few parents whose child didnt get the call to go to Spalding . They are jealous and envious what is going on at Spalding. Dont pay to much attention to these malcontents, Time has passed them by long ago and now they see it passing their children by. Instead of moaning and groaning about Spalding, they should just find a High School with less talent and enroll their son there. Simple solution. It is not like anyone is making a living off lacrosse except the Club Directors People detest Spalding because Lids and company have been on here for years acting like their kids are God’s gift to youth lacrosse. That has transitioned into them saying Spalding will win the championship for the past couple years and all of us have seen how that has worked out. No one is jealous of anything or anyone to do with Spalding. People(Lids and Spalding dads) who say “your son wasn’t good enough to play for Spalding” are just pissed their son goes to a bottom of the barrel MIAA team and weren’t recruited by schools like Calvert Hall, BL, or McDonogh. Everyone who made the roster of an MIAA team besides MSJ and JC would make Spalding’s team. That’s a fact. No one is jealous of you, please get over yourselves. Yep. Jealous and eyes green with envy. Just relax and put your son in a school with less talent. He will play and you will finally get to do some bragging.

Going to get the most AP offerings at the public schools. Word of advice if you’re looking at privates is make sure teachers are certified. My kids have had some terrible private school teachers because the teachers were not certified and had no training in how to teach.

No it won’t be a trend because MD will not be having a spring season either. A few schools do offer boarding in MD. NCAA wouldn’t have a problem if they offer it to other kids as well. You can’t attend a public school in MD unless you are a resident in the area.

If the AD's and league organizers aren't planning as if there will be a regular season, then they should be fired. It is far easier to plan and cut back then try to play catch up. I haven't heard of any admin losing their jobs so this shouldn't be an issue. Numbers will start dropping as vaccinations are administered and those numbers go up. People will stop going for random testing once they get the vaccine.

AAcounty has closed things down until Jan 15th. Obviously that could be extended but at the moment, there is no reason to think AA County won't be opening up sports in mid Jan, well before March.

The IAAM Board of Governors met on Monday, December 14, 2020 to examine the viability of a winter season in 2021. In preparation for the meeting, the Board had asked for feedback from the full membership, outlining their thoughts on winter and spring options. There was overwhelming interest in offering “opportunity” for our winter-season athletes, beginning February 1, 2021. In addition, two other elements were apparent, (1) the IAAM membership did not want a deep overlap with winter and spring sports seasons and (2) the IAAM membership wants to do everything possible to ensure a full spring season beginning March 1, 2021.
The official Start Date for the winter season is February 1, 2021 and will run through March 13, 2021. Please note, due to the closure of Prince Georges Sports and Learning Complex, the IAAM will not be able to offer an Indoor Track and Field season but look forward to a robust spring season of Outdoor Track and Field.
The IAAM will lift the Out of Season practice policy and allow winter workouts beginning Monday, January 19, 2021. This opportunity is strictly for workouts as a school. This would not support early scrimmages or contests.
Our goal remains the same for our winter season, as it was for our fall season; to create and promote opportunities for our student-athletes. That said, we are aware of local jurisdiction constraints and restrictions on athletics and gatherings. Further, we will continue to monitor local jurisdiction plans to possibly extend their current restrictions.
The week of January 11, 2021 will be a pivotal one for the IAAM. During the week of January 11, 2021, the IAAM Board will revisit specifics around a February 1, 2021 Winter Start date, as well as securing logistics information regarding interest in league play versus independent scheduling, all the while, acknowledging the importance of health and safety concerns of our Member Schools.
