Very poor showing for fl$ at the Winter Nationals for '17, '18, and '19 teams. What's going on? Can't attract the talent anymore? Too much money? Too little time on the field? Have lost talent to other programs. Their tryouts were a joke. Money grab! Better players were over looked and really no improvement made to some years. Some really talented players were not invited back to second tryout in favor of friends of friends. Some really obvious weak players at second tryout.

Offenisve philosophy of 2016 coach two years ago was "go hard". No teaching, no plays, not much practice. Many players moved on to Express Orange and 91 Orange and have done well. 2016 coach last year held practice in late afternoon once school was done. Too bad the boys couldn't drive themselves to Cantiague Park.

Does fl$ have a 3rd grade (class of 2022) team that plays in leagues, tournaments, etc. or do they just run clinics through their fl$ lite program? Thanks.

Not sure if you are talking about girls or boys. Inconclusive on the boys side - should just call the director to confirm. Looking at their website there are no rosters yet posted for 2022 girls or boys but when you click on the tournaments tab you'll see that a 2022 boys team is scheduled for the fl$ tournament. http://www.[lacrosse]/

Really?!! Heard they got spanked by Dukes and mailed it in in the second half against BBL. Looked almost as though they were the 2019 team playing against Dukes the whole game and BBL 2nd half. Heard the following: stagnant isoloation offense, weak riding attack, and middies not willing to run up and down the field (particularly on the defensive side). On the upside, heard good thinks about their defense, but couldn't stop shots when the middies weren't marking the outside shooters. Granted, Dukes 2017 could make most 2017 teams(including Turtles) look like 2018s and 2019s, but they shouldn't be taken to the shed by BBL, should they?

We will see where the fl$ players end playing in college. They will all be fine. College coaches could care less what the team records are in 8 th grade travel lacrosse. Why dont you check out the rosters from some these colleges. .....guess what they are all not from Long Island. They are looking for athletic talent and projectability. You guys have too much time on your hands.

Guarantee you come summer they will be a tough out for anyone.

2014 fl$ only had 15 to 16 2014's at the tryout. Had to backfill with 2015's. Was it because kids were already recruited and didn't want to continue to pay $2500+ or other reasons?

Good question - if there is anybody on this board with a 2014 son who did not want to tryout for the fl$, please chime in with the reason - particularly if you've been with the fl$ until now. My guess is that this is not just an fl$ issue and the early recruiting phenomenon is beginning to take its toll with kids who are committed deciding to give up the grind and play a little more of a relaxed / non-recruiting type schedule. I'd be surprised if any 2014s who are not yet committed decided to switch programs at such a late stage. Heaven forbid maybe they might want to do some fishing, play golf, do some travel abroad. Besides, college coaches don't want to see committed kids anyway. There are other avenues for the committed kids. These programs are designed to get kids recruited and it looks like fl$ has accomplished that goal with a good chunk of their 2014s.

According to the roster on the website it looks like there are only two 2015s (Syosset, Manhasset) on the 2014 team. So, to say there were only 15 or 16 at the tryout is misleading. Min 18 + 2 = 20 on the roster. www.[lacrosse]

My son is on the fl$ 2014. There were definately alot more than 14 or 15 at the tryout - my guess is about 20-25 at the tryout - they did not take everybody and yes they added a couple of good 2015s that they didn't want to lose from the program because the 2015 team was full. Chalk it up to early recruiting.

I'm sure that there is an explanation and the only people that deserve it are the players and parents of fl$ boys 2018. Hopefully the club does the right thing and addresses the rumors and speculation.

What are you guys talking about. Threshers only had 3 fl$ players filling in. The only reason it was fl$ is because many Threshers boys play on the same Cold Spring team. If Threshers wasn't playing Express in that tournament I'm sure you would have seen a couple of those boys playing for Threshers they also have many CSH boys on that team. Every Team switches players nothing new.

Stop reading into this, especially when a player gets the option to play multiple games in a tournament as opposed to just a single OBLL game.

Gee, who could this be? Can you be anymore obvious? Oh I get it. It's about this guy being obvious.... He's wrong. Its not about different rules for different players. So what your saying is, if the director was at a tournament and a non CSH player was playing for another travel team when he should be playing for fl$, nothing would be said. Now that is really funny!! Come on stop, you got caught. fess up, don't shift blame. Admit to the people you take money from you were wrong and move on. I guess if my son wants to bag half of the next tournament to go play for another team, because he can play more games, all will be fine. Your logic, not mine.

Yes, it happens, but if it is perfectly ok for non-roster players to just "show up" what does that say about these tournaments and leagues? What does that say about the clubs involved? Is it ok for A players for a club to show up to B team games and take their playing time? How about older boys showing up to "help out" a younger age group? And if a team is short players, that shouldn't be your opponent's problem. Stacking your team with ringers makes it their problem. If the team is short, then you play with fewer middie lines or you move attack to middie, etc. Wins and losses in this "system" are meaningless if there is no consistency and integrity among the teams.

It would be one thing if the kids did it on their own to play with friends, but when the Director of fl$ is their supporting them (as stated above) it raises questions about integrity and character. fl$ has a rule that if you play for fl$ you may not play for another club team. Does that mean those 3 fl$ players will be kicked off the team? Of course not, these are the CSH kids they don't even have to show up for the second tryout and get picked over boys who are dedicated and showed up for both tryouts. Yeah, your club is fair alright.

Unbelievable!!! You all got to be kidding. Cheating...really. Anywhere you look on long island today most kids are on some select team or another. From what I understand Threshers only has one team and doesn't have the convenience of pulling kids down like Express, 91, outlaws and the list go's on and on. You all know it happens so stop pointing the finger. The only difference here is that it was two different clubs that have boys from the same school district that all play on the same school team. So if CSH decided to play those boys in a tournament does that mean that they wouldn't be able to play for CSH? Absolutely Not.
