I understand the owner's desire to grow his franchise, that's business 101. Clearly "spreading the game" has come at the expense of the original club. The deterioration in performance evidences parents and players have figured out other clubs offer better player development and coaching. Hence the steady program wide decline in the rankings.

But saying it’s only for the Elite teams and not inviting all the elite teams is weak! There is only so many opportunities to have these teams play each other without bias in a small must play who you get -
Especially when teams are known for dodging teams and even tournaments to avoid being beat!

Event is on August 31 put on by inside lacrosse. Just trying to hype their brand. Plays the games then see who gets calls @12:01 midnight September 1. Don’t think the event will make or break a kid from getting a call.

One event will never make or break a player but it’s always good to play against the best players.

Why did this event switch from the best players, individually, to a group of hand selected teams.

I really like what Ty has built and I respect his hard work--the sport is better for it, IMO-- but wow the guy burned away so much credibility with the Tennessee event. Unfortunately he is now tainted and will never get that full credibility back. Lids played that one perfectly.

He has always had a clear loyalty or bias to MIAA which Ive liked selfishly but this adds a different tint. Friend brought up a point that him being a business partner with Petro and Petro's son being on the team goes hand in hand with all Lids love as well as trying to make BL (son)player better than he is with the hype and will be higher than he should. Wait till the rankings come out oh brother. This type of perception reflects bad on a sport that has a reputation for back room deals. Even if false the perception with business partners with one and accepting flights and dinners with another is not positive. Our son is a 2021 and we are almost out of this world but many are talking about this which is sad. Wonder how IL feels and if it forces them to change how rankings are done. Different point wonder how many student athletes think about Post grad years as 2021 seems in danger.Thats all now to OC for a few days

Ty's rankings are for his readers not for college coaches to recruit from. Its for fun. Click bait (which is very effective obviously). Enjoy it dont live off it.

While they may be for the readers - the list has a lot of input from coaches. The top 25 ranked kids are for the most part all going to top notch programs.

Juiced Cherries and LI Express are 2 of the most "elite" teams they invited for the most "elite" event? These events are just quick money grabs, or specifically designed showcases by specific parents of players.

The top kids go to top programs because they are good- not because of the number next to their name.

A bunch of kids, playing lacrosse for fun, passing the long day before many of them start the recruiting process is not the design of a money grab. 8 teams is not a money grab. 32 teams ok it s about money. 400 kid showcase surely about money. Attack v defense event or who's the better state- total money grab. But 8 teams- hardly. Sounds like fun and a good idea. If parents are involved, even better.

Petro is royalty is lax. His kid is a player and stands on his own. But Petro can just call buddies and get his kid recruited. He doesn’t need all this stuff you allege to make yourself feel better.

You’re pretty smart jr. The point being the ranked kids are good - that’s why they are on the top 100 list.

Ty's listings have been tilted for years and are incredible. When you hear at least two parents in the same week talk about how their son has a lot of this and says he needs a little more of that and he'll be a great D1 player, then those exact words literally appear the following week or two on IL, you know it's rigged. And it's the same parents that pad the coaches pockets to stay on the team and have one play designed for them. It's disgusting.

NOW, IL has the audacity to 'get evaluated'. IL finally admits "We've been quietly taking money from people to get rated, but let's go public, take some more and make it a product offering." Did anyone see those prices? It's nearly an additional grand a year! Pay to get a rating. FLG's LILJ is the same way.

In the past few years we hear of this so-called 'parity' that doesn't exist, to the past few months of making the playing fields more racially balanced, IL's move of paying for ratings now creates an even bigger gap for the wealthy too separate. It's appalling and bad for the sport.

yes Petro is royalty in lax. but that is not the point. Him being involved in many events with IL writer and player drawing unworthy praise is a modern day version of daddy ball. Add the Lids perks and antics planes, meals etc and the BL player now being on that team and it is all very crooked. Don't get me wrong the (BL) player is very good and an elite talent and probably top five or six in the class and you know it burned IL that he was outplayed badly by other top talent at the earlier elite events Junior event and their Main Stage events or they would be pushing for higher.
Unrelated but related son was at Border Battles thought there was some great instruction he enjoyed it would be great as a winter event to prepare players for spring/summer

Probably a major issue in rankings if it is basically one persons opinion going off of what he hears or alledgedly hears. This is where being involved in events or business with someone who has a player involved or taking "extras" taints this process badly. Even if it is not intentional there will always be benefits to these relationships. player pushed higher because making money with person x and not wanting it to be awkward and having personal relationships.

Ty and the rest of the Ranking Twitter folk are ham and eggs compared to the the actual college recruiter and coach! The Steak and eggs guys! Enough about Petro and his kid- Kid is top 3 attackman in class and it’s not even a debate- His dad is now a business partner with a guy who coaches a team at the same class - Cottle is the best around and everyone on this site would love to have played for him or kid play for him- why is this all so hard to figure out for those that are prying - Cottle- Petro are in this for life! All these other club coaches and Twitter midgets are on the outside looking in! Though it was cool if they mention your player and the boys love it- recruiters and coaches may watch film but that is it! If you tarnish that honest impression even once it falls in line with ego being to big.

Midnight-Delaware messed up by turning into a team showcase instead of individual- yes 8 teams is not a money grab but this event never was - it was a recruiting event- last minute events before sept 1 for a lot of kids coming off a great summer that may not been on any schools radar-

All teams have holdbacks - out of state players- guest players- ego maniac coaches - solo cup drinking parents-
Top dogs for each team are true 2021 age or older- some even playing 2023 now - and touting that they are the best 23’s in country ! No sh t!

Better watch it, all those parents are proud of their 18 y/o competing against 16 y/o and being the third best players on the field. They argue that it happens in HS, so it should be ok for club. They are a privileged group that can’t grasp the concept that a 15 y/o playing HS varsity is different than a 18 y/o playing 2 age groups down in club. A kid who shaves and has physicaly filled competing against kids who haven’t even hit puberty.

What a snowflake comment above. I feel bad for you and your kid. Welcome to the real world!! Your kid is going to get run over as an adult. Life is not fair!!!

Most league rules are you can’t turn 19 before the start of your senior years including MIAA and other prep school leagues..PGs included. Any thing else is urban legend.
