Did you consider the ad hoc ratings are actually helpful to some trying to figure out where to place their kids and what level is the best fit? Not everyone wears rose colored glasses-some of us are actually aware where are kids stack up and want to place them with kids of equal or slightly better skill that play against similar competition. Some kids simply enjoy the game and they nor their parents are using the club circuit for a scholarship, but simple to get better and to enhance their future high-school experience. Okay, just club, no town. No rankings, but those are the tiers that most will agree with. Pick a tier and do your research, but if a team is still looking at this point... I would ask a lot of questions up front. Express 91 Then a gap. In no particular order, but these teams will enter A brackets S2S Hawks Rebels True Blue Force A Regulators (if they keep the better Roar players) Gold R$sh Igloo FLG Legacy Next level, in no order. But they are here because they generally play in B brackets, which is fine because there are a lot good players on these teams. 24 Recon Hitmen Turtles Force S2S Express Epic Jokers Empire Outlaws Igloo 91 E3 R$sh Rage Rebels (new B team) Icon Agreed significant gap from 91 and express. But the rest of the A teams are at different levels. First is: Force A IGLOO ROAR NEXT comes: S2S Hawks GOLD R$sh Followed by the rest. Some of the rest should be playing in B division.

It’s August. How bout holding off with the rankings for awhile. Don’t you think that makes sense. Each team gained and lost players.

My guess is at the upper tiers nothing really changes. All the shifting is at B level because those players are always looking for greener grass because the top of the b roster vs the bottom is wider than A teams and parents grow frustrated. Club is watered down not by the amount of players, that’s good for the game. It’s parents that put their kids in multi travel sports. It’s a just sign their kids up for everything mentality these days. Play all sports, definitely. But two travel teams in two sports is too much at the age imho

Probably because they are ranking Igloo based on name only. Sort of like 91 but at east they are still legit. That igloo team was a complete mess from the coaches all the way down to SOME of the parents. And this year, based on the gossip, will be no different, if not worse. They are a lower level B team if that. Express trumps the entire class. It aint even close....

Think you have it backwards. Best two teams other than 91 and Express are Hawks and Gold Rupoop. Hawks beat both Force A and Roar this year, did not play Igloo. Gold Rupoop is right there too. Both teams can compete with the Big two, but depth is where they lose out.

End result is the same. Only difference is the price you pay. ROAR was actually decent and punished Igloo multiple times and Force beat them too. If anything, drop igloo to the next lower tier so you can then compare puke, vomit and throw-up......

If I recall Force was 3-1 vs rebels last year. Both good teams. I do think out of the second tier teams they can all beat each other on any given day. It’s good competitive lacrosse.

If I recall Force was 3-1 vs R$sh last year. Both good teams. I do think out of the second tier teams they can all beat each other on any given day. It’s good competitive lacrosse. The Force team in spring at Blatant was clearly very different by the time they started tournaments in June. By June Force had clearly improved or brought on better players. Or both. And even in spring Blatant Force beat R$sh. Probably true S2S Hawks should be up with Force and Roar . They were competitive. Igloo was up and down. All over the place. But if you watched them you could see they had good players. Gut feeling is because they are so town based and coaching had been iffy that Igloo will actually be low A's this year. Besides 91 and Express the teams to watch would be Force, S2S Hawks and Roar. Maybe R$sh. But that's questionable.

Time will tell all. Kinda quiet this year throughout the tryouts. Every player should have a roster spot by now. If not, that magical invite is likely not coming and supplementals won’t matter. The A teams don’t miss the better players at the first tryouts. If your son didn’t make the A team, it’s because he needs to improve or hasn’t developed his game as quick as other players. Despite what your may think. It’s okay to get cut, LI produces the best players in the country. Go find the right team where his confidence will soar and it will pay dividends.

The posts above were referring to R$sh not Rebels. There is a glitch on this forum that print R$sh wrong as Rebels. Rebels team is not competitive with A bracket teams.

What does that mean. So did they get top players from other teams? Adding 2nd line kids adds depth, but won’t make the team that much better. Get a starter or two from 91 or Express will be an improvement, but doubt that happened. Sorry to be blunt, but that’s the way it is.

So true. Back a few years ago, I knew a kid that didn’t make either of the Team 91 A or B teams. He ended up on the Express B team. This was during the MS years. Stayed with that B team through HS. Long story short, that kid was the Suffolk County Midi of the Year his senior year and an All American. Not bad for a B team player!

All the in betweeners want that elite AA team. Usually the kid can hang with the team in practice, but can’t get playing time. That is okay. Go find a good team A or B with solid players and good coaching and you’ll enjoy these next 4 years, and so will your son. It’s actually the best path to the AA teams. But likely, by that time, you’ll be happy right where you are.

100% correct. Practice and training are very important but so is competitive game playing time. Especially at this age. Go where you are going to get good training and get playing time in games.

It's nice to finally hear some positive feedback on this forum. The whole point of this is to be helpful instead all the negativity. We should all want these boys to develop and actually get to play in games, what a novel idea? Lacrosse is a great sport. We should focus on working hard, having fun, making friends and memories. Last I checked, nobody was handing out nine figure contracts to play pro lax like we see in other sports. So let's not get too crazy.

Moral of the story is it’s better to be a big fish in a small pond, than the other way around. Sure, practicing with A level players is nice, but there is no replacement for games experience. Wins and losses and which team your kid plays on right now, in the grand scheme of things, does not matter. At all. This time is for development. Make sure your kid is maximizing his development, which includes a while lot of game experience.
