I think this was someone stirring. It is nice they are off to a 6 win 1 loss start, but every win you look at who they played and 6 and 1 doesn't look so impressive. They did play one decent team that accouunted for the loss and it was a blowout.

dont count northport out, they were without two key players yesterday. they will rebound and make some noise. Suffolk County is wide open except for Bay Shore who is now dominating but anything can happen. Ward Melville, East Islip, HHH, MIddle Country, West Islip, Lindenhurst(havent played any of the top teams) can all make a run. Bay Shore vs Ward Melville, Northport vs West Islip, East Islip vs West Babylon, all friday.

Lindy seemed to have their hands full with Whitman and that's not a very good sign for them going forward

Nike/US Lacrosse Northeast Region Report
by Tom Peace

1. Garden City (N.Y.), 8-0

The Trojans have found themselves perched atop of the Northeast Top 10 this week after defeating the then No. 2 Manhasset 10-9 in overtime on April 11. Haley O'Hanlon (Colgate) had four goals and an assist in the victory.

2. St. Anthony's (N.Y.), 7-1

Even though the Friars suffered an early season loss to Vero Beach (Fla.), St. Anthony's has compiled some impressive out-of-conference wins. Defeating Bryn Mawr (Md.), No. 7 Notre Dame Academy (Mass.) and New Jersey power, Chatham. The Friars have another crucial game on April 27 against national No. 2, St. Stephens & St. Agnes (Va.).

3. Manhasset (N.Y.), 7-1

The Indians took Garden City to overtime, but came up short and the loss drops them in the standings this week. Manhasset still deserves Top 5 status with an 11-8 win over Summit (N.J) and faces St. Stephen's & St. Agnes on April 26. Lindsey Ronbeck has been Manhasset's leading scorer in the past three wins with a total of 12 goals.

4. New Canaan (Conn.), 7-0

Olivia Hompe (Princeton) led New Canaan with five goals and one assist in a win over then No. 1 Farmingdale, 8-7. The Rams jump into the Top 5 this week and faces in-state rival Darien (Conn.) on April 25.

5. Farmingdale (N.Y.), 6-1

The Dalers drop from the top spot this week after losing a nail-biter to New Canaan. Farmingdale had three players with two-goal games in the 8-7 loss. The Dalers look to rebound this week when they face Wantagh (N.Y.) on April 24.

The Marauders earn their way into the Top 10 this week with impressive wins over former No. 6 Northport and Wantagh. Bay Shore is a complete team running on all cylinders right now. The Marauders are looking to get back into the state title picture. In the last four games Kyra Harney has put up monster numbers with 22 combined points.

9. Shoreham-Wading River (N.Y.), 6-1

10. Notre Dame Academy (Mass.), 7-1

Notre Dame ran into a buzz saw of a team on April 16, losing 19-9 to St. Anthony's (N.Y.). The Cougars have a date against Westwood on April 30 to try in stay in the Top 10.

News and Notes
Long Island's best take on Virginia's best

On April 26 and 27 the No. 2 team in the country, St. Stephen's and St. Agnes (Va.), goes head-to-head with the Farmingdale (N.Y.) and St. Anthony's (N.Y.).

The Saints are riding a 17-0 record this season and will try to keep the streak going against New [lacrosse]'s best.

The Friars are ranked eighth and the Dalers are 17th in the latest Nike/US Lacrosse National Top 25.

Bay Shore is making the case for Top 10 status

The Bay Shore girls' lacrosse team has picked up from where they left off last season — winning. The Marauders, who are the 2012 Long Island and Suffolk County champions, have been making a strong case to be in the Northeast Region Top 10 with an 9-0 record and a recent win over Northport (N.Y.).

Bay Shore is averaging 12 goals a game so far and hasn't allowed opponents to score double-digit points.

"We always have high expectations and the girls work very hard to meet them," said head coach Allison Pfeffer.

Bay Shore went 19-2 in 2012, though the Marauders came up short in the state playoffs, losing to West Genesee 10-9.

The Marauders have huge goals for 2013, and they are to be a NYS Scholar-All Athlete team, Suffolk champions and of course state champions.

"I always stress [that] hard work pays off in the classroom and on the field," said Pfeffer, who has been coaching at Bay Shore alongside her husband, John, since 1991 when the program started.

The Marauders are coming off a huge victory on April 20 when Bay Shore defeated a tough Wantagh (N.Y.) team 11-7. Bay Shore had three players with hat tricks: seniors Kaitlyn Arnold (Fairfield) and Cynthia Delcore (USC) and junior midfielder Kyra Harney (Duke). Goalie Dylan Teitelbaum (Frostburg State) had nine saves.

Other players to keep tabs on this season are senior defenders Perri Baker (Colorado) and Casey Taggart (San Diego State), junior defenders Allie Dolder (Penn State) and Corinne Schmidt (James Madison). Senior midfielder Amanda Voges (Tampa) and junior attackers Kristen Brigagliano (Colgate), Carly Cox (Colorado) and Katie Kirk (Hofstra).

Bay Shore has high expectations in 2013 and looks to continue to have a winning season with huge upcoming games against Suffolk rival Ward Melville (N.Y.) on April 26 and on May 13 against Shoreham Wading River at St. Joseph's College.

BOO WHOO , we were missing players the refs were against us, the sun was in our eyes Northprt and Yellow Jackets, always an excuse for a loss. How about Bay Shore is a great team and they crushed you. Even if you had all your players you would have lost

Bay Shore crushed NPT and NPT had their full team playing. West Islip beat NPT without the prodigy playing...others had to step up but didn't. Next year will definitely be interesting in NPT.

Why do you obsessive people need to turn everything about YJ, get over it this is about high school lacrosse.Bayshore has been great and in my opinion does not get the respect they deserve in any of the rankings. How do you make it about travel when most of the better teams have kids from multiple travel teams. When it comes to the teams and individual players at least try to keep it positive.

There is not a single player from NPT that plays for another club, to try to distance NPT or CR from the Jackets is impossible , they are linked either for the good or bad so long as CR runs both, No one has said anything negative about any player on either team so stop being overly dramatic. To be perfectly honest NPT/YJ parents always seem to have an excuse for losses, when the truth is Bay Shore is just a better team with a better coach.

The person above was not referring to the Bayshore/Northport game but the Northport/West Bab game and the fact that two key players were out. Pay attention. You would be a fool to count Npt out now. Besides Bayshore the top 6 teams are going to change around before season's over

What two players were out and why?
BOO WHOO , we were missing players the refs were against us, the sun was in our eyes Northprt and Yellow Jackets, always an excuse for a loss. How about Bay Shore is a great team and they crushed you. Even if you had all your players you would have lost

Bay Shore crushed NPT and NPT had their full team playing. West Islip beat NPT without the prodigy playing...others had to step up but didn't. Next year will definitely be interesting in NPT.

Since you are talking about the future "next year" for NPT. Ill bite. Interesting as better or the feeding system of 7th/8th, frosh, soph are not as strong? How have the top teams JV teams been doing this season?

If you feel YJ must be included in the conversation about high school lacrosse then I would say Bayshores best player is a YJ.

Northport program is going to take a step backwards in the future, they do not have as many playing and will not be able to replace some of the better players who are aging out.

Northport looked pretty good against our team today. Their starters got plenty of rest in the second half. Tigers vs. T-Birds. It wasn't pretty.

Last time I looked Bay Shore has 5 or 6 players that are/were Yellow Jackets. 3 out of 4 top scorers are/were Yellow Jackets. Harney,Arnold,Cox so not sure what the noise is all about. By the way, if you talk to any of the Bay Shore kids they have tremendous respect for Northport. They also have a number of starters that play for Top Guns, including Kirk, Vogess, Baker, Dolder and another top scorer in Delcore. Goalie is a YJ and so is another starting defender. Not sure about subs. Looks like a pretty good balance. Put the YJ vs Top Gun discussion to bed and talk high school girls lax.

Where did the yj v tg come from? Only mention I see here is from you. I agree someone brought up YJ into the northport loss discussion, which yes, drop club talk on this school ball thread.

No dog fight. Mt. Sinai is clear winner.
