simple solution to all of the discussion regarding holdbacks and stacking rosters as teams make play off rounds at tourneys. 1- every child should have to register with a governing body (US Lacrosse) listing his birth certificate and photo. this is done in hockey, football and im sure other sports also. 2- when teams enter tourneys they should have to submit photo rosters this way coaches prior to games can check players in (this is done in pal football and there is never an issue) 3- money should not be an issue because these clubs are making a boat load of $$$. this is not rocket science. now if something along these lines doesn't happen your gripe shouldn't be calling out parents or children on this site. call out the organizations that practice this in order to put out a false product so that they can continue to get into our pockets and take our $$$ US Lacrosse is to blame for all of this. Change the rules to be like EVERY OTHER SPORT. US Lacrosse changed the rules and the clubs, plus PAL doesn't comply. The clubs don't want to alter their business model, so I get that. You would think PAL would, since it's not about winning. Plus they should do everything in their power promote fairness and age based does that. They do it for football????. Everyone who hates grade based, and it's most of you. Stop complaining here and Email the PAL the board and ask them why they won't go age based and adopt US lacrosse age guidelines. If everyone that ever posted a holdback/age based post in here sent one email to the PAL board. PAL would have to consider it for a vote. Or provide a reason for why they wouldn't. So stop complaining on a lax blog and go try and make a difference. If PAL changed, that could be enough to make a difference with the clubs. But maybe not, since they complete ignored US lacrosse. https://www.scpallax.com/SBoys/Board.aspx

WP is the most balanced team in 2024. Coaches and parents understand the balance. School, other sports, comradery and more importantly being real teammates to each other. There isn't a team out there that compares. Parents on this team all get along ( most teams out there do not) and look out for each others boys. The 3 practices a week during fall is a joke. Keep running your boys into the ground so they feel burned out..that makes sense. The only way a team\parents get talked about the way they do is out of pure jealousy and wanting what someone else has. Team has been built right from Day 1, so keep spreading the lies and the BS and heck continue throwing rocks at the parents like little kids, it will do nothing to this team and the family that was created here. So spin your stories about holdbacks and the teams demise and whatever other BS you come up with in your hatred of a 12 year old very talented lacrosse team. And WP keep being who you are and stay the course, those boys are examples across the board of hard work, dedication and keeping things balanced in what seems to be a very hateful and judging youth lacrosse world. Cheating teams, who stockpile players that are 14 or 15, are ineligible. Madlax "wasted money chasing a trophy in Colorado" last year, as they flew to the easiest tourney of the summer in Denver, with absolutely no good teams. Not a single team that anyone reading this has EVER heard of! They paid all of that money to go to Denver to play NO ONE, for a t-shirt. Heard they didn't even win the t-shirt! They aren't going to the WSYL because they don't have a team to bring there, if they can't bring their 13 and 14 year olds (cheaters). And, MD does have representation there, in contrast to what our Madlax dad claims. But since they don't have any 13 or 14 year olds, no one ever hears about them, since there are no MD or VA teams that can compete with anyone, with just 13 year old players. It's just a very inferior brand of lacrosse in MD/VA... that's why they have to stockpile their hold backs (cheat), just to be competitive with Long Island 13 year olds. The WORLD SERIES OF YOUTH LACROSSE... best 13 year old lacrosse team on the planet. Who is going to take the title home this year?? My money is on another Long Island team... the true home of lacrosse!

Not a waste unless your team has absolutely no shot at getting to the championship. Then, I would probably agree with you. Although I will say, everyone I talk to that have done it, say it is the best experience in youth lacrosse. That's from both parents that have made the championship and those that have not. Extremely well run event, like no other.

If you can swing an extended vacation, even better, lots to do in the greater Denver area. Tournament games were fun to watch and the venue is great. Unfortunately, you definitely sense the money grab aspect, especially all of the Body by Jake promotion. Also, the hotels that are part of the event are terrible, do your research and stay elsewhere, lots of good options downtown or go for an Airbnb with a washer and dryer

The best part about the WSYL is the parents foot the bill for the whole thing and the clubs makes bank on it. Especially the club that wins.

If you really wanted a true championship, do it in Philly which is equidistant for everyone. Instead, doing it all the way in Colorado shows it's a money grab. 2-3 good teams and the rest cannot compete with the best of the East Coast.
The worst thing was the Team 88+3 2020 team that kept kids on the bench in a blowout win on national TV. Those parents paid good money like the rest of them. But even though they were up by 10 in the 4th quarter, kids were kept off the field and not in the game. Totally lame, like this tournament.

Or even just making the championship game. Unparralled exposure opportunity, that money can’t buy. And all at no cost to the club. Enormous opportunity.

What good team doesn’t go to the WSYL because of its proximity? Answer: None! The ONLY reason a team doesn’t go is because they are not a 13U team, or because their team is not competitive. Regarding the former, their abundance of 14 and 15 year olds make them a 14U or 15U team, which is ineligible. Remember, parents don’t decide what tourneys a team does, the club does. And there ain’t no club anywhere that wouldn’t want to go to have a chance at all that free publicity, if they think they have a legitimate shot, because it costs them nothing to go. Doing the tourney in Colorado has nothing to do with a money grab. Money grabs can be anywhere. It’s there because Jake Steinfeld who started the WSYL Is friends with the owner of the Denver Broncos who own the stadium and the Denver Outlaws. That’s why it’s in Denver. I’d like it on the east coast too. It would save me a boat load of dough. But that’s prob never going to happen. Because it doesn’t hurt the tourney by being there. The best 13U teams go. If your team is a 14U or 15U team, then you’re not going. Simple as that.
