...said the guy with the small kid... ;-) Speed is the ultimate neutralizer! It's called the fasted game on two feet, not the game with the biggest kids. Ahhh I have said just as fast and same stick skills but bigger. So we are on the same page. Guys we are talking about puberty here. Some kids peak early in height while others continue to grow. You never know. So let me get this straight, you have kids that are fast, big, and great stick skills??? why the [lacrosse] would you waste your money on club lacrosse, sounds like you have the next Gary gait. bit of advice, don't poke the sleeping bear!

to answer "why all the hate on the turtles?".... I don't think the "hate" is on the turtles, but its for some of the arrogant responses from the turtle PARENTS on the discussion board...
NOTICE - all other club (TB, 91, etc...) parents seem to be able to credit other club teams for their strengths and talents after watching the competition But why is it when the discussion compares the contrasting styles of play to the turtles, the response(s) from turtle nation are defensive and condescending??
...just maybe it because some of the up and coming clubs, have closed the gap

That not what was said. The difference between the elite team and the next level is the size and complete package of speed and stick skills. Please read what's being posted. Lu sound stupid when you just blurt out responses. What team do you think I am talking about? Because its not the turtles. This was a statement about puberty and the size of kids playing the game. How kids are bigger, faster, and more skilled than ever before.

Mule? Why are you saying he should pick 17 kids from TB, terp black and 91? Now Mule is the best evaluator of talent? Listen if you said take the best 10 from TB and best 10 from terps black NOW its another animal! 91 isn't in that mix! TB crushed them, not just 8-4 but a beating. If terps black beat TB twice, what do you think terps black would do to 91?
TB and Terps black in a different category than 91, as far as turtles it would be a good game between TB & turtles or terps black & turtles. Not a "blow out" either way.
I will say this about Mule, at least he stayed and watch the two teams play in the championship, several of us saw JD leave before it started. Were you at the 91 VS TB game? It was 7-5 & TB won the game by out playing 91 that day, period. TB outplayed Terps Black in the first game also! I dont care if it was cut short, they outplayed Terps! No one is on here saying "they took a beating" or got "crushed". Have some class. These are 13 year old boys & even they know enough not to trash talk eachother. There is some amazing talent @ this age level on several different LI teams. It just takes the obnoxious Express "Lax daddy" to turn this to s*#t! To take 91 (or fl$ or any other team) out of the running & to annoint yourselves in another level because you won a March tournament is pathetic! How do you know its an "Express Daddy"? You don't know that. People stir things up. Im an Express parent of a express player and I take exception of the accusation you made without any proof. And you call someone OBNOXIOUS? Pot meet kettle. BTW, this comment "I dont care if it was cut short". Really? How could you not care? It wasn't a complete game. But the championship game was. Great teams...all of them and such good sportsmanship by all. It's great watching them all share tents and chairs and goofing around like kids are supposed to. And great LAX to watch as well!! Can anyone please tell us how the injured boy made out? We all hope he's ok. The injured TB player is doing better. Has a concussion and will be out for a few weeks. It was nice to see his former teammates on the terps come over to talk to him and see if he was ok.

turtles- 5 practices a week... see "diminishing returns"... Why so much HATE to the Turtles? Are you the parent who was asked to leave from Turtles team ? Just let it go. Your son is a very good player and let him play. no parent or player was asked to leave the team.

every team has there share of "Early peakers" ... an 8th grade man child will NOT be the same player 4 years from now... ask a college coach why early commits are rarely working out just heard one early commit to duke lost his for academic insufficiency. can't rest on their laurels...

I do not really understand people like you.If you feel that playing club lacrosse is a waste of money unless your kid gets a scholarship then you should not play. There are many kids who play club lacrosse because they enjoy playing and making friends from other towns and many parents who feel it is money well spent because of it.

the statement that you riduculded came directly from a D1 coach who had and does actively rcruit from the schools and the clubs that we are all talking about...
simply stated, "that's why we (college coaches) don't watch 8th graders"...
that goes for any of these teams and players (yes, turtles included... sorry)

take a look and try and find the 2016 page........
What are we going to do next year when we all (or most hopefully) realize all this banter doesn't matter and the 2017 page dies?......
Boys become young men soon enough, as individuals playing their game.
Aah, youth lacrosse.....

I'm a parent from TB and not sure your are on point with this one..They charged $975 a kid. a good bargain for us...5 tournaments, Pro7 Helmet, custom bag, custom uni, and more..Seems to me that it might not be a money maker like you claim..but hey, you must know buy that stupid comment. Crawl back to the angry hole you came from and enjoy the $1500 or more you paid..
Not sure why everyone on this board is so concerned with how much money the clubs are making (or not making) on fees and arguing over how high one clubs fees are compared to the other. There is obviously (sp) a market here. That market has been created by a demand, whether that demand is parent or player driven, is not important. I always say there is a cover for every pot. A free market will adjust itself. If a parent wants to pay TB whatever fee they ask to play on a "B" team that is an issue for the parent and player to decide. I am sure over time the clubs charging high fees for inadeqaute (sp) coaching will fall off

of course money is a factor!! some organizations charge up to $100 per player to try out... exploitive?? and boarding offensive... by charging $75-$100 to try out is a statement that by the CLUB that screams: "Money is our 1st Priority" - and talent level is negotiable...
I come from a family of coaches... our kids will NOT try out for LAX clubs that charge insulting try out fees...

"For the love of... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH" Well said and I agree! A few years back my son tried out for fl$. It was a $35 tryout fee. Granted they only formed one team per age group so I was comfortable paying it. I did try my 8th grader out for 91 this year. think it was $50. Has more than 100 players trying out and my boy only went to one of two tryouts. I kind of got the feeling that it was abit expensive and did the math blah, blah, blah. Not sure what is right or wrong. Granted 91 forms 3 teams at that age group, but the only thing you can do if you disagree with the tryout fee or the "tuition" once he makes the team is do not try out. Now maybe it can be argued that the "b" and "C" teams should pay less tuition but trhan from a business model perspective the owners of these clubs could be weaking their "brand" Again as I wrote above the market will weed out those clubs that provide an inferior product. As consumers the parents have to also become more informed. Also there are other clubs out there that charge much lower "tuition" than exprexx, 91, fl$ etc. So there are options out. This whole dicussion could probably become the basis for a college economics thesis.

answer... middle school sports are a joke in general. however, the practces and games are weekdays after school, no conflics w Club in case your son wants to do both club and middle school (recommended)...
so no choice needs to be made...
A good plan would do both in 7th, have a great middle school season so the coach can recommend your son to play up to JV as an 8th grader (still have school experience etc and lose the modified middle school program)

no thesis needed... simple greed... Why else would 91 make a returning player pay a tryout fee??
If clubs such as 91 had a conscience (clearly not), they would at least apply the tryout fee to the tuition...
I hate to say it, because I know and like most of the club owners, but it is nothing more than a shake down to returning players...
what would they do if your son was a good returning player but did not try out?? just let him walk over the $50 or buckle, because they want to protect their brand?

ALL the clubs Express, fl$,Jesters etc. charge returning players a tryout fee. 91 charges half of what some of those teams charge for tryouts. Go to the Express board and complain about the $2400 they charge to play for their teams.
