Who are these kids and who are their parents? Spallina went on the record saying he wants the kids on his team to play other sports to develop, and they do play football, wrestle, etc. Kids on other top team do as well, be it football, soccer, hockey or basketball. Much easier now that the kids are old enough for MS or even JV sports at school. Plus, in the summer, who does not want to swim, surf etc? What do your kids do besides lacrosse, just play Fortnite?

In the end you do this because your kid loves to play.
- dont do it for the scholarships. You are better off not doing it then, saving that money, and you would end up having more money for your kid for college.
- dont do it if your kid is not being played. Thats just ridiculous. What is he practicing for. You practice so you will play well in your games. If he is not being played, its a waste. Pick a different team.
- dont do it because your kid wants to be on the top team. You are sending the wrong message to your kid. Being part of somerhing in name only, but not contributing to it by playing in the game, means he really earned nothing.
- dont do it just because you want to tell others your kid is on the top team. Your actually harming your kids self esteem, as he continues to watch others play instead of him.
- dont force your kid to play just to relive your dreams in your youth. Your child needs to choose their own path. That is the only way they will be successful and happy. That should be your goal.

If your kid enjoys lacrosse, pick a team where
- he is played. He doesnt have to be a starter. But he needs to play a decent amount of time in games.
- there is a team environment where there may not be equal playing time for all, but every player gets reasonable playing time.
- there is one team per age group. Or at least your on the top team. All the second teams are money grabs. Its way to difficult for organizations to pull in enough talent at tryouts to field 2 teams in an age group. (And everyone at tryouts wont accept). You are better playing for another club.
- Dont be a sucker paying ridiculous figures. Figure out what they are really giving you for your money. Is it really worth it? Why did tuition go up 25%? Certainly costs didnt increase that much in a year.
- Talk to people who you know or that friends know play for or played for that organization to get a better picture. Get the inside scoop.
- make a list of questions. And call and talk to the coaches before accepting an offer. If they wont talk to you, or give you nonsense answers, then run. It can only get worse from there.
- make sure the organization is investing in proper coaches for your team. Not just one head coach and the rest volunteer daddy coaches getting a free ride for their kid.

Once on your team
- dont switch mid season. It does nothing but hurt your kids image when he tries out for other clubs. And teaches your kid the wrong lesson about following through with his commitment to his team.
- make sure your kid enjoys playing for the team when deciding to try out next season.
- if you find during the season the organization does not follow through with what they promised, then walk after the end of the season. Find another team. Otherwise it will only get worse.
- practice with your kid. And make sure your kid understands practicing daily at home is the only way he will get better.
- when at tournaments enjoy the game. Dont be crazy on the sidelines shouting. Let the coaches do the coaching.
- dont let winning be everything. In the end it should be whether your kid is enjoying thenselves, and developing as a player. You certainly dont want to lose all the time. But you also dont want to win at any cost.

Have a great season

This quote is so true. There were a lot of kids who could not play another sport this summer because 2023 is the year. Year for what? The colleges coaches are not looking at them but the schedule was unbelievable and the only one that gained something out of this was the club directors. Wake up parents playing on a club team is now the new it item and the snake oil sales men/club directors are lined up to cash in.

Talk to your kid. Make sure your kid is happy on a team where he cant pkay other sports.
If not, there are other teams he can look at where he can pkay lacrosse, but also do other team spots.
If you talk to college coaches you will find they want the kids to have played multiple sports.

A lot of extra kids on express this year. 9 attack 12 middies 7 d and 2 goalies. Some new parents are know it all blow hard bores who are sure their kids are the best. Should be an interesting year .

Going to be a lot of unhappy parents on that team. Impossible that all those kids are getting to get the playing time their parents think they deserve, especially those kids who are so small physically they get thrown around like rag dolls. Glad to hear they finally brought the S2S kid (formerly Express B player) on. He deserves to be there, unlike some of the other kids on that team.

Is this guy serious? Can the dad of this s2s kid be this deranged. He bashes 13 yo kids his son going to play with? A hole fo sho. Thank god your kid is coming to save these kids. How can we thank you for coming.
[/q

I agree with the last post. The dad of the player that moved from S2S to Express Haugen, does not waste his time on this forum, (I'm not sure why I do! Why is the the 2023 forum the most active and disfunctional on the website?). When his son played on S2S with my son, I never saw any evidence of him bragging about his son, in fact he was one of the most reserved parents on the sideline and in the tent between games. He helped the main coaches during practices, and was great with the boys on the team. He would definitely not run down other kids. He reached out to me to tell me his son was leaving the team, because he wanted to play with his best friend, who is the goalie on Express Haugen. I know that probably seems far fetched for most of you, but at the end of the day, these boys are still only 13 (unless your talking about MD. or MA.) and want to play with their buddies.

Obviously this is the New dad (S2S) "oh he doesnt waste his time on this forum" WE KNOW IT IS YOU lolol

Or weasel your way into the club as head coach or assistant coach and make sure to start your son and play him over others to the team’s detriment, do the same for the sons of your buddies, and keep the director’s fooled that you are doing your best for the team.

That didn't pan out. 8 players left and now the Weasel has effectively ruined 2 2023 teams.

What are you talking about. How can the kids seriously play other sports when they are at a tournament every weekend. Some kids are good enough to play more than CYO basketball or summer roller hockey. When do those kids that Spallina encourage to play other sports get to do that. Let's not forget how often the bandits practice. When do these kids get to play that other sport you speak of? Please don't kid yourself.

Most play for their schools, which yields minimal conflicts because the fall football/soccer season just started, and lax has been done for a month. Most of the games are during the week, and all practices are, before or right after school. We have some boys on our team that do another sport semi-seriously outside of school still as well, and they do miss fall tournaments sometimes for another sport, and coaches seem fine with it. But for most, school sports are great because they are competitive enough but not insane at this age and you get to play with and in front of your friends.

No you won't, this dad was clearly a fool to try to fit in to begin with. But you are still stuck with the core group of malcontent parents for whom nothing is ever good enough. They were ranting on here about the team long before this kid/dad joined. A friend whose son plays on S2S told me a while ago when we discussed the BOTC comments after a tournament that the coach begged the parents to stop airing team's dirty laundry on BOTC and talk to him directly. How crazy is that? Alas now that they succeeded in pushing him out inmates are running the asylum and the new coach will have his hands full. You'd be much better off wishing good luck to everyone who left and move on with the new team, and listen to DK's words as a parting gift - talk to people directly and stop posting trash on BOTC. Everyone ends up looking terrible in the end, and it does not make anyone want to join your team either.

The funniest thing is that there are about 15 “friends” that have posted long intimate soliloquies about this guy’s lacrosse issues on a website. They are clearly obsessed with him and have a lot of free time. Does Lebron’s father have obssed fans that will post like this? Cue the “father is being set up” post from one of his “friends”

And don’t forget with all the lacrosse work in college he will literally miss the fun aspect of going to college and most likely regret that after graduation. But it’s well worth it.

I clicked on the wrong 2023 forum and saw this post. This is such a true statement. Parents need to get a clue. Lacrosse is a business that is making a ton of money for Club Owners! I look at half the college graduates and they are making pennies out of college living like they are still In college. If your son is not having fun playing Lacrosse at this age something is wrong. If your son has to give up other sports and events to play Middle School lacrosse...something is wrong. As a parent you should not allow a coach or owner of a club dictate what your son can and cannot do. Coaches need to be held accountable for their teams. I think we are seeing more and more of these things in the news about awful coaches. If we allow this treatment of our children now then they will allow worse treatment from horrible coaches for a 5 minute slot of playing time. Sorry for the rant but I see this all over the Maryland forum and I find it infuriating!

The worst is when you get assigned a high school coach as your head coach for your club team, and he never shows up. $3,000 flushed down the drain.

You are spot on. The only people that are emotionally invested in our children are Us! additionally, as parents we must be be aware of the example we set for our kids. It's fine to have kids play with their friends, but when things become stale so to speak you must know when to move on, and allow your son to make new friends in other places (teams). Just remember, one size doesn't fit all. Lastly, coaches/organizations are in it for one thing, the money and themselves. Once you are aware of this, use these coaches/organizations to get the most out of them for yourself, don't become emotionally attached to any coach or team. It's unfortunate as parents we have to treat travel lacrosse as a business, but once you realize how the game is played in the realm of travel lacrosse, you will better able to protect you kid and pocket book.

No, no, the apparel with the Whale. And don't forget the Dude or Warrior casual footwear so you fit in and look like everyone else. If you really want to go all out, the Yetti hard cooler or bag will put you over the top. Don't forget to bring the beer and your supply of red cups.

Tryouts are just about wrapped-up. Did everyone make/receive the invite to their selected team? If not what is plan B.

Teams are more diluted now. I think Warriors, Express B, Igloo B, and Empire will dominate the A. TB will move up to AA. The AA division has been watered down such as Igloo, Express, and S2S. Rebels will dominate the B.

LOL.
You have no idea what Rebels will dominate.
Too funny the shade you try to throw. Sounds like your feeling threatened?
Only the season will tell.

Must be a Warrior dad. Just remember the Warriors were beat by beat by every team mentioned including the Outlaws (Rebels).

Wow. That is a big jump - going from a B team to a AA team. TB must have added quite a few quality players.

Warriors, it was what it was, and it is what it is. Keep paying those prices. Next year you'll be up to or beyond $4500.00, easy. If you give them your money, they will be happy to take it...
