If we hear correct, she is enrolled at yet another Long Island HS? She is in very serious danger of throwing it all away. There is no college coach in America who will tolerate her seemingly off-the-rails behavior, especially one as much of a powerhouse as the one she is committed to. Sad really.

If your daughter has the opportunity to participate in the Epoch Committed Academy next year I would highly recommend it. Great event, good competition and nice experience.

Congrats to the CSH girl that got National High School Player of the Year. A true team player. Shocked that was recognized and the winner was not picked purely on racking up stats vs weak teams.

Yes - definitely! It’s a pleasure to watch a team player! One team player will make the entire team play a different style.

NJ may have a rule about club directors but it certainly doesnt stop HS coaches from coaching club teams.

BTW, the Number one recruit in the country headed to UNC does not score a lot of goals. She is a fast athletic midfielder who does well on draw controls, ground balls and on defense. Your yawn comment demonstrates all that is wrong with this sport. As far as I can tell , the CHS player was not over hyped and although she put up strong numbers they were not crazy and they were not vs weak teams. I am happy for the young woman and her family. Congratulations ! #dontbebitter!

Hey i have an off-topic question - Seventh grade daughter has been getting a few emails from local private school coaches after a few camps this summer. Is this common or do lots of girls get these emails? How do privates go about building up their programs? Is there really anything in it for us? Local HS isn't that bad and don't want to get stuck somewhere...

Look for Sayville to be a powerhouse for the next 5 years. They have a solid group of 6 8th graders that are moving up to varsity and will contribute right away. Most will be starters. Is this a joke . They will be middle of the road at best this year . DIV 1 WARDMELVILLE NORTHPORT WEST ISLIP SMITHEAT SMITHWEST RIVERHEAD
WHO WILL WIN AND WHY WHO HAS NO CHANCE TALK TO ME Northport and West Islip will battle it out for the county championship. Both return a lot of talent and both have strong coaching. Talent goes to NP but still a toss up. Smithtown East and Smithtown West will be competitive but neither has enough depth, talent or coaching to win. Ward Melville and Riverhead have no shot. Ward Melville has some talent but coaching is terrible. Riverhead is too young, not enough depth and coaching is eh. Anyone want to take a shot at next year?

I am surprised that there were not more Northwestern players selected. The talent pool was very deep and many of the players headed to NU are very strong. The Northwestern coaching staff recruited their recruits over many of the players at the tryouts (they obviously like them better as players). Undoubtedly, there were players who were heavily recruited by NU who chose to go elsewhere but still made the squad. Coach Amonte was quoted as saying “I’m really excited for the group that got selected. They really were dynamic. They were coachable. We were looking for players that could really work together and I think they distinguished themselves with those characteristics. We’re really pleased to be able to invite them to be a part of this special experience.” The takeaway is: the coaching staff went in with the goal of selecting "dynamic athletes" who were "coachable team players" who were able to demonstrate that they could "follow instructions" and "work together as a team". If there are several players of similar ability being considered I would expect the coach to choose the NU player. Good luck to all of the players that were selected. Go USA!

It is a bunch of politics, and many of the more deserving players will be cut in favor of coaches recruits. Same happened on the boys U19. The problem lies in US Lacrosse. They cannot have coaches selecting their own players. Ridiculous and unfair!

It’s funny the notIntelligent comments people make when their kid doesn’t make a team !
Everything is a learning experience. Don’t teach your kid to whine and complain. It will only hurt them in the future!!
Good luck to all the players that made team ! Bring home the gold !!!

Always has been a useless organization. “National” teams and tournaments are both a joke! Here we go again, the jealousy bitterness and hate all over again. For years I have been listening to the same old bs from delusional parents who whine and complain about this sport. Most of the time the complaints come from parents who know very little about lacrosse or competitive athletics in general. The thing that amazes me most is how their lack of knowledge and understanding never stops them from spewing their nonsense. 109 young women were invited to the tryouts (I am sure they are all very good players) 36 were selected for the team I am also sure that those players are also very good players. There are three 2017 players I am sure having played a year of college lacrosse gave them an advantage. There are 17 players from the class of 2018. Eight of those players were ranked Top 40 by Inside lacrosse, were 2018 UA Senior All-Americans and now earned a spot on the US National Team. The College coaches at Duke, USC, Loyola, Princeton, Northwestern and North Carolina also think that these players are pretty darn good as well. But no, you know better it is all political and the selections are real head scratchers. In addition to those eight players two of the other 18's were also ranked in the Top 40 by IL and they are excellent. Two others were on the IL watch list, (one of which was named 2018 UA Senior All-American and according to the announcers during the game had an incredible performance) and now they earned a spot on the US Team. Pretty good as well. 13 of the 17 players from the class of 2018 would be considered "Consensus All-Americans" but no, the know it all parents on this site know better than the people who evaluate talent for a living. There were nine 2019's selected. Six of the nine played at UA and were also ranked by Inside Lacrosse and now made The US Team. One of the nine played at UA and another was ranked by IL. There was one player out of nine who did not play at UA and was not ranked by IL. The 2019's are headed to Notre Dame, Princeton, Penn State, Northwestern, North Carolina, Maryland, Richmond and UMass. I will take the consensus of IL, UA, USLacrosse and their future college coaches over the know nothing bitter hateful parents on this site. Six of nine IL, UA, USA.... but they aren't very good it was all based on politics. It looks like four of six the 2020's would be considered consensus picks as they were ranked by IL, played at UA and now earned a spot on the US U19 National Team. The 20's are headed to Syracuse, UVA, Stanford, BC and one uncommitted. Pretty good. I will take the opinions of IL, UA, the college coaches who recruited these players, the evaluators at the tryouts and most of all The Head Coach of the US U19 Women's National Team who by the way has a pretty impressive resume. The rest of you can go scratch your butt and continue to whine and complain. USA!

Go USA! Congrats to all the girls. And yes sad to see 9 NOrthwestern girls there, screams everything that is wrong with the political BS of this thing. Listen, they are an OK top 20 team, and that’s it. If you applied law of averages and all top 20 teams landed 9 of their players on the team, their would be 180 deserving kids to make the cut. Sorry but no team deserves 9 kids representing, certainly not NU, very sad!

Sorry but no team deserves 9 kids representing, certainly not NU, very sad! I count seven Northwestern and I think that is fine. Please stop with an "OK top 20 team". NU is one of the best programs in the country (top 5 - 10). Coach Amonte has every right to select the players that she believes will help win the championship. Obviously she believes in the players headed to Northwestern, she recruited them. If she did not offer your daughter a spot at Northwestern why would you think she would offer her a spot on The US National Team? It is funny reading the comments and listening to the parents talk about how this is political and how they know who the more deserving players are. The women has won Seven National Championships and you stunands think that you know better. Most of you have no idea of what you are watching when you watch a game or a tryout. On this site for many years and most of the parent think that scoring goals is the end all be all. I have read from time to time some posts that indicate more important factors and those posters are always shot down by the "go to goal" parents who carry on about "put the ball in the back of thee cage". Coach Amonte put it out there, they were looking for players who demonstrated - Players with passion who would bring a positive vibe to the team (selfish me first need not apply). - Players who will go hard for a long period of time in whatever position they are put in. In other words players who hustle in all aspects of the game not just when going to goal (selfish lazy players need not apply). - Team Players. - Coachable Players. - Versatile athletes who can play multiple positions (and are willing to do so ). - High lacrosse IQ Players. - Players who Communicate. - Athletic Players with good footwork and body positioning. - Players with good off ball skill on both sides of the ball (something that will be lost on many of you). - Players with good vision (head up players who will make the right play not just go to goal or try to run it up). - Players with good speed. After talking with several people with insight... the tryouts were designed to identify the type of players that the coaches wanted (obviously the coach already knows the players she made offers to). The players were constantly being told "given cue's" by the coaches as to what they wanted to see (work the two man, press out, double, push it, settle etc..) if the players ignored the cue and did their own thing... well , that didn't help. They ran a 5 v 5 session that was all about seeing who was in shape and who would give an effort even when they were spent. Who was hustling and grinding and fighting when they were already exhausted. Getting back on defense, communicating and sliding even when they could barely run anymore was rewarded. Apparently they were watching to see who busted their butt. Goal hangers, lazy players and players who came in out of shape were not rewarded. It was a test. Individual drills / station sessions also played a role in evaluating. Following instruction was important (is the player coachable?). Scrimmages were also played but the teams were divided up based on the other sessions. Scrimmages are tough sometimes but on the final day players were given an opportunity for players to play their way back into the mix. Not a perfect system but I trust in those selecting the team. The Head Coach should have the ultimate say and I would expect her to select many of the players are going to NU or that she made offers to (she obviously thinks they are pretty good). Go USA!!!! Congrats to the players.

YES - I agree 100% I’m sure all the negative comments came from disgruntled parents. They had a plan and their mission is to form a team not a group of individual players. Team players win ! Go USA !!!

Congrats to the players. The only thing that I would add is that there were only 36 spots available for the type of players the coaches were looking for. No doubt there were a number of players who met the criteria but no room on the roster. Agree that there are many parents who do not know very much.... It's always political with that type.

Unlike many on this site I am not bitter or jealous and I am not making excuses or blaming politics. I will not be sitting around hoping and wishing that specific players do not make the travel roster. Congratulations to all who made The Training Team!
