Every team in Conferences 1, 2, and 3 will have an eight game conference schedule and the top eight teams will make the playoff brackets. In Conference 4, there will also be an eight conference game schedule however only six teams will be part of the playoffs.

Don't know much about Carey this year. A lot of tough kids there so they could be a factor. Probably be GC and Wantagh on top again this year. Fan of both teams. GC always puts out some of the finest lax players around and will be tough to topple. GC is usually deep at every position. Wantagh should fair well ,good coaching , tough athletic kids will put them in a spot to make a run. They lost a bunch of last years starters so that could be a problem. I think they graduated their entire defense but given their history they will probably still have a strong D and their goalie is back from last year. South side and long beach complete the confrence and there will be some exciting games....

Who is looking good in conference 1. Assume Massapequa and Syosset would tough but any sleepers out there or anyone else we should be looking out for?

Wait, let me get this straight...that means an 8th grader took a varsity team to the county semis last year? C'mon now. That has to be a first. How come he's not one of these diaper commits?

My son played with the Port goalie on his summer team. Very good player, has a bright future if he keeps his head on straight.

So there were no goalies within 4 years older that were better? That's either a sad commentary about the state of Port Lax or this kid is the next Ghittleman.

When Port Played Farmingdale last season it was an 8th grade goalie against a 9th grade goalie. Farmingdale put a freshman into the starting spot midway through the year last year.

It happens...

If Port puts a D in front of their goalie they may compete with Syo and Pequa. The goalie is a natural.

Port has no depth. They lost their best player and are weak at midfield and defense. Massapequa is loaded and so is Syosset. Hicksville and Farmingdale are not even in the equation.

Syosset had an 8th grade goalie take them to the county semi finals or finals against Port Washington a number of years ago. The kid went on to Start at Duke and was a D 1 All American. Dan Loftus

It's really not right when a player is pinpointed specifically down to every last detail shy of his or her name. The PW goalie did play on varsity last spring and he will continue again this spring as a freshman. He deserves to be there because he is amazing. This has nothing to do with the "state of Port lacrosse". Also, as to whether or not he "keeps his head on straight" has nothing to do with how well he plays and is really none of anyone's business. He happens to be my nephew and I think you all need to move on and talk about teams and NOT specific players. It's not right.........

I do not know this kid from Port but completely agree that it is not right to have a lengthy discussion about a particular kid, especially is something negative is said or inferred about him. We are talking about a 14 or 15 year old kid and there is no justification for an adult to be in a chat room making anonymous statements about the type of kid he is. It's actually pretty pathetic.

BOTC Moderators did not see the reference as being negative - in fact, we viewed this player as playing-up as a serious positive for the Port Washington program over the next several years. That said, let's end this line of discussion and get back to the upcoming boys scrimmages and the start of the regular season.

Hope that these additional details help everyone with their preseason Boys Varsity Lacrosse "fix".

Wednesday, March 13th : St. Anthony's vs. Garden City (4:30pm at St. Anthony's)

Wednesday, March 13th : Syosset vs. West Islip (4:00pm at West Islip)

Thurday, March 14th : West Islip vs. Garden City (4:00pm at Garden City)

Saturday, March 16th : Delbarton vs. Garden City (11:00am at Garden City)

Saturday, March 16th : Four way scrimmage between St. Anthony's, West Islip, Massapequa, and South Side.

Also, BOTC has learned that Chaminade will scrimmage Farmingdale, Syosset, and Don Bosco (NJ) this week however we do not have the scheduling details at this time.

Not saying he's next Ghittleman but he's good. Out played a number of good goalies last year. Its no way an inference on what the state of Port lacrosse is. He earned his spot. Since he outplayed some other goalies whats the state of those programs.

The Hill Academy out of Ontario (top 10 ranked) went down to the MD area and beat all comers:

Hill 21 - Calverton MD 5
Hill 18 - Archbishop Spalding MD 6
Hill 7 - Gonzaga DC 5

Anyone see The Hill this past fall dismantle some of the better Long Island high school teams?

I heard that Manhasset won by one or two. Port was up at half.
Both sides played a ton of different players. First scrimmage for both. Both coaches looking to check out what they have.
