Honestly could not get thru the long winded retorts above . If you don’t think politics play a major factor you are clueless and yes there have been politics involved in the past teams as well. As far as picking non ball hog players , that is laughable as many of the players selected are the worst ball hog players out there , if you would like some examples that would be easy to supply . 7 players from one program is silly and gross and honestly NW has not been relevant for years .

Exactly Agree as well. If you look at every “teamusa” team picked in the past, on both the boys and girls sides, you will see that the teams are loaded with favors. This is unacceptable. US Lacrosse is a joke has never done a thing for the sport that was not self serving. They will never get a dime out of me.

Coaches ussually pick a higher amount of their own kids because 1. they like the way they play. 2. they know the training process. Why are we debating this it goes back to the beginning of time.

They know the training process, what exactly are you babbling about in this case. So when CR stacks an UA team with YJ players its ridiculous but when KA does its just smart. Its gross on both accounts .

Obviously she thinks very highly of the players that is why she recruited them. Here is a question: if your daughter did not receive an offer from Northwestern do you really think that Coach Amonte is going to want your daughter on Team USA over players that she recruited and made offers to? It simply does not make sense. Many of you believe that your daughter is better than the players selected and that's okay, that's your opinion. Coach Amonte is entitled to her opinion as well. Cry politics all you want , the reality is Coach Amonte is going to select the players that she believes will help the team win. Here is another question : did all of the Northwestern recruits / players make the team? I have read a lot of bitter complaints that stem from sour grapes but nothing of substance . I have read a couple of insightful retorts regarding the tryouts and they make sense to me. As usual the jealous try to set the narrative with their claims of "it's all politics". At some point you are going to have to come to terms with the reality.

Here is the problem with your logic, you assume all the top players wanted to go to NU and Kelly already had her pick of who’s who. But rest assured that many many of the very top players have zero interest in playing for NU and for KAH. NU is lucky to get a small share of the top players, just like all the other top programs. And that’s how this US team should be put together, with a small share of the top kid or two from all the top programs. You think way too highly of the NU commits if you think the numbers are proportional to the talent pool. She should be embarrassed for herself, and US lacrosse should be embarrassed by what she has done. Maybe most all will get cut from final roster and we will see one or two make the team, that would be about right.

It’s really a shame for the kids who deserved to be on these teams but get cut due to favoritism. The most recent of example of this was Kylie Ohmiller being cut from the woman’s team. Are you kidding?? Also the last U19 boys team was a complete joke. The organization should just do away with these embarrassing teams and spend the money they rob from people on something actually worthwhile to the sport such as enforced age restrictions and free clinics. You do realize that huge amounts of money are wasted financing meals, flights, hotels, and entertainment for a joke of a tournament.

CR and KA are in the sentence because CR makes more cash than KA from the sport. Between her 700 kids, the 8 tournaments and countless other things, CR is in many ways more powerful than a true icon of the sport KA

However, you assume that I think That all of the top players want to go to Northwestern. I do not think that at all. I am sure that some of the "top players" did not make the team. I am also sure that many of the "top players" did make the team. There was an earlier post that pointed out a number of players on the roster that would be considered consensus picks or All-Americans. Is everyone wrong on the assessment of these players? Are these players so connected that they are rubber stamped for everything? C'mon man give it a rest already, stop whining. Stop trying to spin things to make your daughter look better than she is. The last coment was not directed at you, it is for the parents who who will be spinning tales about the tryouts and the players who were selected. I have already heard a few. Very sad listening to the folks and their delusions. Never going to be a perfect system but some on this site cry foul all of the time. Just maybe the players selected earned their spot and the coaches and evaluators know what they are doing

Agree, complete lost. This type is always bitter and will never give credit where credit is due. They believe they know better than everyone and they believe that their daughter better than she is. The worst pat is that they go around speaking as if they are an authority on the sport. Some have been complaining about politics for years.

Please stop crying about enforced age restrictions. This is a HS page and every girl in America has to play against older girls all thru HS and college. If your girls can play they can play. Have them line up and compete and stop crying about what' s fair. Any true athlete at any level could give a crap that the athlete across from them is older, bigger, stronger, or whatever. They just want to beat the heck out of them. So please stop doing your daughters a diservice and stop whining.

Stop whining? You would like that, wouldn't so you'd stop having to defend your holdback. Let HS be HS, fine with that, but during club and recruiting tournaments play with your own age. By college or senior in HS it is all leveled out, not before then and you KNOW IT. Not whining, legitimate gripe.

Agreed...where as HS lax holds open possibility of freshman playing against seniors on same team/against each other, there is a reason why travel is broken up by graduation years--2019 or 2020 or 2021--if not, just make the teams any age group and let them play against each other. Why have them designated by graduation years if there are mixed ages on teams?

Its really not about winning some Mythical US lacrosse National Championship

Absolutely toxic. Talked to a few people before the U19 Tryouts. Very sad listing to the bitterness from some and the spin from others. One mom (daughter was not invited) went on about how even the 109 players was "all politics". Another person (father) of player that was invited tried to set the tone before the tryouts even began. Preemptively setting his narrative for when his daughter did not make the team. They all try to paint a picture of how the tryouts have nothing to due with talent. They want us to believe that it is all about connections and politics. What they really want us to believe is that their daughter deserves to be on the team but the tryout is a joke. This very same rhetoric has been on display for many years from many of the same people. There is always an excuse, politics always playes a role and nothing is fair. From select teams to recruiting there is always some nefarious reason as to why their daughter was not recruited, selected or whatever. Jealousy, bitterness and spinning tales is what the sour grapes produce. Certain people will never get it.

I wrote the second place post, and for the record, my daughter is a senior in college, did not make the U-19 team the last time, nor do I think she deserved to. She is very good , just not top 50. Now lets talk facts. Last time around, the same argument happened, as it will next time around. the truth is simple, KAH is totally biased to her recruits and that will taint the team, 7 players from one team reeks of nepotism. For those of you saying KAH just took the best players and they all just happen to be going to NU are justifying bad behavior, last time around she bullied her goalie onto the team (who later had to be replaced during a game at the tournament, and has since been benched at NU) and no NU team has been relevant in 6 years, I saw a post that said KAH has won 7 National titles, I disagree, the truth is Hannah Nielsen and Shannon smith have won 7 championships (no, my daughter never played for her, yes I think she is a phycho). Since the departure of those 2 played KAH has not been able to sustain any kind of dominance even with some of the top talent in the country. I would love to see the 100 player roster and see who got cut in place of those 7, and, more importantly, who didn't even accept, or try to make the team. In the end, IMHO, trying to take on Canada, and Australia without a single Goalie from either Long Island or Maryland is a recipe for disaster (see above comment about NU goalie). No matter what you say about great athletes, the truth is a B level goalie from those 2 areas are way better than a a goalie from Texas and Utah, simply because they play better competition day in and day out, again JMHO. For those who say my opinion is meaningless, I have been involved in this game as a player and coach for 35 years.

Yes !! The coaches want to win ! They picked the players that will help them win !
I’ll bet all my money the negative comments are from parents of players that did not make the cut. stop it - Use this as a way to make you daughter work harder instead of teaching her to make up excuses - adversity builds character!!

Poster boy/girl for bitterness. Now that is a Fact!

Yes !! The coaches want to win ! They picked the players that will help them win !
I’ll bet all my money the negative comments are from parents of players that did not make the cut. stop it - Use this as a way to make you daughter work harder instead of teaching her to make up excuses - adversity builds character!! The coach can't even get her team into the NCAA tournament. Her players are good, not great. Many of the actual best girls were cut because of favoritism. My daughter did not try out since she is only in 9th grade. I have watched this process on boys and girls side for many years, and it is a total joke. As far as adversity building character, it's interesting if you follow kids cut from these teams that deserved to be there over the favors (we all know who they are) you will see that the majority went on to become college All Americans, where as the questionable kids picked by their college coaches didn't do much. Those are the facts, and it's a shame that US Lacrosse allows this to happen! As far as winning, this tournament is a joke, no other country knows how to play lacrosse with the exception of Canada mens, so stop with your best chances of winning, my daughters 9th grade YJ team would beat every team that the USA team plays.

Ok I’m new to the conversation, how donthe chosen get politically connected/favorited? Do they play for the right clubs? Do they express interest in the schools the coaches come from?

Is your daughter one of the ones that benefit from these actions, and like a any true benefactor of nepotism now your trying to reflect your feelings onto someone els. Be proud, your daughters talent took her to the brink, and your lips pushed her over the edge

You can try to change the subject, unfortunately facts don't lie. Tournament is a joke and US Lacrosse is incompetent. Excelling on a college team is a true sign of a great player, not being picked as someones favor for a low level tournament. Wait till they make the next round of cuts, will be another shshow! Like watching a car crash!

Excelling on a college team is a true sign of a great player, not being picked as someones favor for a low level tournament. Wait till they make the next round of cuts, will be another shshow! Like watching a car crash! Below is cut and paste from earlier post.... Don't know all of the players but I am sure that they are all very good. Some of you really need to give it a rest. Every time there is a Team or a List or a player who is named MVP or Recruited by a Top Program the haters come out to bash. I am pretty suer that just about all of the players from the last U19 Team are doing just fine at their respective colleges. I am willing to bet that this group will continue to excel as well. I am also willing to bet that the people bashing this team are the same people who bash everything else. Congrats to the players who were selected. **"Here we go again, the jealousy bitterness and hate all over again. For years I have been listening to the same old bs from delusional parents who whine and complain about this sport. Most of the time the complaints come from parents who know very little about lacrosse or competitive athletics in general. The thing that amazes me most is how their lack of knowledge and understanding never stops them from spewing their nonsense. 109 young women were invited to the tryouts (I am sure they are all very good players) 36 were selected for the team I am also sure that those players are also very good players. There are three 2017 players I am sure having played a year of college lacrosse gave them an advantage. There are 17 players from the class of 2018. Eight of those players were ranked Top 40 by Inside lacrosse, were 2018 UA Senior All-Americans and now earned a spot on the US National Team. The College coaches at Duke, USC, Loyola, Princeton, Northwestern and North Carolina also think that these players are pretty darn good as well. But no, you know better it is all political and the selections are real head scratchers. In addition to those eight players two of the other 18's were also ranked in the Top 40 by IL and they are excellent. Two others were on the IL watch list, (one of which was named 2018 UA Senior All-American and according to the announcers during the game had an incredible performance) and now they earned a spot on the US Team. Pretty good as well. 13 of the 17 players from the class of 2018 would be considered "Consensus All-Americans" but no, the know it all parents on this site know better than the people who evaluate talent for a living. There were nine 2019's selected. Six of the nine played at UA and were also ranked by Inside Lacrosse and now made The US Team. One of the nine played at UA and another was ranked by IL. There was one player out of nine who did not play at UA and was not ranked by IL. The 2019's are headed to Notre Dame, Princeton, Penn State, Northwestern, North Carolina, Maryland, Richmond and UMass. I will take the consensus of IL, UA, USLacrosse and their future college coaches over the know nothing bitter hateful parents on this site. Six of nine IL, UA, USA.... but they aren't very good it was all based on politics. It looks like four of six the 2020's would be considered consensus picks as they were ranked by IL, played at UA and now earned a spot on the US U19 National Team. The 20's are headed to Syracuse, UVA, Stanford, BC and one uncommitted. Pretty good. I will take the opinions of IL, UA, the college coaches who recruited these players, the evaluators at the tryouts and most of all The Head Coach of the US U19 Women's National Team who by the way has a pretty impressive resume. The rest of you can go scratch your butt and continue to whine and complain. USA!"**

You are really all a bunch of losers . Is there politics involved in the U19 team selection , absolutely . Will each of the players selected be at a minimum very good players, absolutely. Will every player who makes the team be a successful player in college , no chance , will some be successful , yes. To those of us who have kids that made it thru the selection process , congrats ,but don’t for a second believe that there are not many other players who could have gotten the spot and the team would do just as well. There are only two teams that have a chance at winning and honestly the US is much deeper in talent .
