As a parent on the O’Rielly B team I have to agree we are not getting any of the coaching that is so desperately needed. O’Reillys greatest strengths as a coach was always developing a strong offense and that is all gone. He always played the kids fairly, but now there are twenty minute blocks that keep the same kids playing who aren’t able to accomplish any actual plays. O’Reillys team is thankful to have coach Matt whose focus is defense and with his guidance O’Reilly finally has a strong defense line. It’s really sad what has happened to the team. But there isn’t a lot of commitment with this years line of offense. Too many other sports and other events to take practice seriously enough to make a difference. And you have to keep the lines strong. If kids can’t catch and throw and now the basic fundamentals that should and usually are required to be on a B team then it’s just going to keep falling apart. What I watched the Middies had no interest in getting the attack involved. Whole quarters where the attack didn't get passed the ball. That's unacceptable on any winning team. If the commitment isn't there then the kids shouldn't see much field time. If they don't come to practice, then no playing time. Cannot develop as a team if kids miss practice. Need to cut all of the RVC "Superstars". But that would cost Chan money.

Are the coaches that are breaking away from the ducks, still coaching at the ducks? Ducks are not looking great this season. Is that the reason?[/quote]
The leader of the Ducks breaking away screwed the kids the summer he left 91 to run his own program. Now he is screwing these little ducklings who are getting killed at every event as he stops doing the right thing and leaves again. Fool me once, fool me twice, who wants to give this greedy man a third try.

tryouts are around the corner. What kind of player movement is to be expected? Are the Ducks staying together as that new program? Geese parents throwing in the towel? 91 and Express adding to an already oversized roster? Which teams are the losers and winners? Which program is the dark horse to end up with the disgruntled families and surprise next year? Predictions?

If the Geese parents are smart they would call a meeting with TZ, and get that team back together. If they had remained intact they would be really tough to beat. If Legacy could figure out the coaching and somehow work some sort of magic to get back the good kids that left it could be a nice group. That is of course if some of those parents can look past themselves and see the kids. Because they are the ones playing the game, not the parents.

Ducks A will stay, why not. Solid team and can continue to add. Geese are likely fine, one little rift, which happens everywhere, turns into team falling apart???? Really, not.buying it. Best 2nd team of the group is Legacy team. The Geese will recover and reload. 91 recovered the A team this ywae and is a top team again. No 2nd team this year shows they had to build out A, but now can add a United or Warrior type 2nd team. Express built out A the last two years and is the best team on LI (it's true for now). BUT their real B team is on the bench of the A team . They'll try the unoriginal idea of splitting, and have it coached by a cast of 100s. But it will fail a's people are more skeptical and be one team of 33 by Dec. In the end, it's club lacrosse the top players will still be the focal point and everyone else will be disgruntled.

I'm curious to see if 91 can form another 2025 team besides the blast All second teams need is a dedicated coach. Like the warriors and aspen extreme have proved. Any type of hybrid that pretends to be something it isn't, FAILS. It has never worked. Teams need to be 100% independent of one another. Same amount practice and most important different coaches.

But on the business side success for a B team sometimes isn't measured by wins and losses in my opinion. They are used to reciprocate in tourneys and add revenue based on the clubs success on A level. Nothing wrong with that, but put some thought into it and dont give it to a coach that has 3 teams already...makes no sense. Tryouts are for the 2nd teams after all. These elite teams are only adding kids they already know or somebody sent down. It's a small lax world.

Are you saying the geese parents are following the WI daddy assistant coach rather than their head coach CF that has coached them all these years. Then they are nuts! I agree, Legacy needs to invest in the team and provide more qualified paid coaches. It cant just be CF coaching without another paid coach. But one rough year doesnt mean a team cant come back. And they think it will be better to pay $2800 to a startup team? They are making a huge mistake.

I watched 1 game on Sunday...they didn't get a shot off. For all that time and $ think they would hook these kids up. I looked at tourney machine and they were obliterated each game. They played us, they obviously aren't getting the coaching - O'Reilly wasn't even on the sidelines, they have very small middies that get knocked around, the passing is horrendous, zero lacrosse IQ (not taught), The clearing was horrendous - middies just stood around and ended up having D taking the ball up. For the $3k - $3.5k they pay they getting zero value. I tend to think not a lot will return.

No excuses needed from Geese. The ones that remain know and trust the process and the kids are not afraid to scrap and take a loss. They still wear the gold helmets with pride. They stayed loyal even when the water got rocky and the sharks circled the boat with big white teeth and bigger promises
Coach Reilly has been a great addition. The kids that took direction from him responded well. He was definitely a plus after all the drama. Good addition with Fiore.
As for next year the ones that were able to stick it out have been in both sides of the war and know how to handle adversity. And will be playing against kids that were taught to quit when it gets too hard.
Thank you to the parents that jumped in this year to help in many ways they did. And especially to the ones that still waited by the fence to greet the team after the bad losses the same way you did when we won championships. Thank you. Look forward to the fun times ahead.

I am glad you and many other parents on the team are sticking it out. There is too many people moving their kids from team to team. Ultimately if you find a good team, with good training, that your child actually gets decent time on the field then that team will eventually be a good team and get through the rough times. I do believe the geese can be that. Chris Fiore is a talented and dedicated coach. But parents do need to insist that Legacy invest in a second paid coach who is not a daddy coach. If you want to compete against the bigger teams you have to have that. And Legacy defenitely is now at the price level like other big teams that they should be having it. Then if you want to have one or two daddy coaches to "assist" thats great. But they take direction from the 2 paid head coaches and are not over vocal. Let the head coaches do most of the instructional direction. Reilly is a nice guy and not a bad daddy coach. He is encouraging for the kids. But he doesnt seem to have an understanding of lacrosse language and what he says doesnt make sense at times. He needs to work on that. And probably could be a bit less vocal, and leave that to the head coach. Other big teams also have real problems with daddy coaches and much worse ones. Either way, 2 paid qualified nondaddy coaches are necessary for Legacy, or the Geese will find it difficult to replace players who leave with quality talented players. And thats just the facts. So if u stay then you need to get together and have a real talk with the organization before tryouts.
