LIYJ played admirably against the big bad hold backs. I mean for being SOOO much younger and frail like 2 or 3rd graders. I sure hope daddy buys them 2 scopes of ice cream tonight for such a brave adventure away from home. Go team!!!

Not sure why 3 teams (ct griz, elevate, leg) all have to play igloo and tg in pool play, but Jesters and Empire get to avoid both of them??? special request, or just maybe oversight, but either be nice to see TG/Igloo rd2 in finals?...obv unless someone else beats them
It's not a secret that of the 7 teams in that pool Igloo and TG are in a class by themselves. Why let a team advance without having to beat at least 1 of them??

Would be nice seeing Igloo and TG in a full game and not one of those 20 minute playoff games

Awww it’s so sad your daughter has to compete against such poor competition. Maybe you should move to Maryland so she can have the 13 year old career she deserves. #prayforthegreatones

Legacy only has 1 team that is an A caliber team and that is 2020. The 23 team is not A more like a B- the scores don’t lie. It is what it is.

Legacy beat NXT which is a good team. The other games were close except for the TG game.

Monster Black solid A team and always enters top division.

Wright's team definitely needs help. They have some great girls on that team individually but as a team it is not working. They don't work together. No passing.

Definitely Wright's team needs talent and a coach.

There are three A caliber teams on Long Island for the 23 group.... all 3 are top 10 in all of club ball and that's TG Black, Igloo and Thorn (mighty YJ).
Next tier has some very good A-/B+ teams and that includes Legacy and Jesters..... and maybe Empire puts themselves in that group this weekend at Hofstra! good luck to all

YJ Wright and Legacy are about the same. Decent B teams. It's not about the Coach. Not every girl is an A player, and not everyone deserves trophies. Even on TG and Thorn and Igloo, there are only about 2-3 players that are truly outstanding, and the problem is that when they play teams like M&D, the depth hurts them. Now if we got all of the top players together on one team, it would be scary!

NXT is a very good team, and yes maybe Legacy was one of the weaker teams in their group but they played and lost to some of the best teams around, rather then playing in a B/C group like some of the teams from around the 'empire' state do. Legacy got enough t-shirts, we love the competition even if it results in losses. Hofstra we got the 2 monsters saturday and then some W's sunday!!

The “win” over NXT was actually just “leading by 1” when the weather stopped play. The first time NOT playing lower level tournaments, where all those T-Shirts cane from, showed what is commonly known. Now have a good Hofstra tournament.

Yes the weather did stop the game when the score was 3-2 Legacy over NXT....the next line I didnt understand. Legacy always plays in the TOP group vs the TOP teams. Legacy plays Igloo and TG Black at Hofstra saturday..................coincidence that Empire and Jesters AVOID both those automatic losses???

Good miss; Hofstra is a MUCH more competitive team that Lax Blast. Blue Devils won lax blast and they couldnt beat one team in the westhampton group of 7 teams

How do Empire and Jesters "Avoid those loses" in a tournament they do not run? Pretty funny how you take a swipe at teams that enter the tournament they don't run, get placed by the tournament they don't run but its their fault they don't play Igloo, etc. Am I missing something?

All those teams stink except for YJ, who are not getting better playing sub par competition. But I’m sure those girls will be biting their “medals” bragging that they beat nobody. Just another example of how their director puts them into tournaments that are not challenging, because she has a stake in it. Sad for them, because they are already struggling.

You are obviously new to this game. YJ Thorne has been entered, as appropriate, into the “A” division of EVERY tournament this season. Why wouldn’t they? We’ll see at The Nationals, where the True 2023’s, not
Playig as 14 year olds a grade down fair. As a YJ Thorne Father, I would say that, With Igloo having won it last year and beating us the first
Weekend of the season And TG Black having another grwat season, the facts point to us being 3rd best on LI at this age group and approximately the 4th to 6th best team at this age group (if older girls of MD, M&D Black and Hero’s Green are included), but Plah-leeeeze......Legscy, Empire & Jesters.... S-T-O-P pretending you are part of this conversation. You ARE NOT. Disintegrate and join a real TOP 3 organization on LI

Unfortunately - LI only has 1 high level tournamen. And it’s not a US lacrosse sanctioned tournament. That’s the Hofstra tourny next weekend.
You will never see the top teams waste their time and money staying at the Long island tournaments. Tg yes- In their own tournament of course. But did yellow jackets, top guns, igloo, jesters , maybe even legacy, play on the Island yet? No. Not once.
These Teams all Travel to Maryland, New Jersey, PA. To get better you have to play the better teams. You may not win every game, you may not win any tournaments. But to be playing at the highest level and call yourself an a team that’s where you have to go and you have to play in the A brackets. Notice TG purple andYJ B teams they to go to these tournaments but never in the top brackets… They are well placed by the tournament directors as they should be. To bad Yj are not attending Koster this weekend… Would be a great chance to have all the higher competitive teams together at least once.

I have an actual question (please refrain from sarcasm). My daughter played Elevate this year and as stated above, we went to several tournaments and the competition was weak at best. the other poster is correct, we drove to MD to play some very bad competition. We did win and get a t-shirt for the win but my daughter got NOTHING out of this season. My 2022 is above average player. I also have a 2023 who is much better than average but did nit play travel this summer and will likely start next summer. The goal of joining travel this year was for her to play with much better kids, push herself and improve and play strong competition and get good coaching. With Elevate we unfortunately did not get any of those things. It was nice, with the tent, and the gear and the dinners but for the amount of money we spent and the time and money we spent on travel it was not what we were looking for. This weekend was a microcosm of the entire season. We won all of our games in blowouts and the highlight was setting up one girl for a BTB goal and everyone on the field knew it was coming. The club owner and his daughter acted as if it was the highlight of the summer. The 2023 Elevate team lost to the Jesters who didnt look that good for a travel lax team. The club owner and the daughter are just not what we are looking for when it comes to travel lax. So my question is, where do we go for tryouts in August and September. We are truly looking for them to be challenged, be coached and to get better. On Elevate my 2022 was one of the best kids and honestly, she is only slightly above average in the lacrosse world. We live on the boarder on Nassau and Suffolk and would think we have some real options. Again, I have a 2022 and a 2023. I will post in the 2023 forum as well for input. Thanks in advance for your reply.

What are you talking about....Lax Blast??
That is not the Legacy team from Long Island; YJ were not there, Liberty was not there. what are u talking about??? maybe you were under a rock, but the best teams from Long Island outside the YJ will be at Hofstra this weekend

this is a 2023 thread and why dont you check your info..... thats suffolk empire which is not to be confused w/Nassau Empire (12 goal difference), NO YJ, NO Liberty, and NO Legacy, since that Legacy is from clifton NY I believe.
So again as someone stated before, the Lax Blast at least for the 2023 group is not a very strong tourney.
Hofstra on the otherhand has some of the top 23 teams around.

I am not a YJ parent but I AGREE 100% with what you said........ In the 23 group, it's Igloo, TG Black, and Thorn, and then everyone falls off a cliff.
Those 3 teams will beat any of the next 3 teams on Long Island by 8-12 goals.
Well said and yes the nationals is the true test cause the 14 yr old MD kids wont be there. Send your 2024 13 yr olds and see how they fare??

Empire has gone undefeated this summer against some of the best D and C teams around....that said have they lost a game this summer??
What solid B teams have they beat?? I think a game vs Igloo or TG, 2 of the best A teams in 23 would have been an eye opener, but I still think that game 1 vs Jesters will be their toughest matchup of the summer??
Realistically how many can Empire win this weekend?? Jesters. Leg, Elevate and CT Griz... can they go 3-1 or 4-0 or is 2-2 a big victory???
I have never seen them play nor do I know anyone on the team. Safe to say they wont be undefeated after this weekend

[quote=Anonymous]I have an actual question (please refrain from sarcasm).

Based on location and competitive teams TG would probably be a good fit.

[quote=Anonymous]Holy Crap you NY parents are a bunch of excuse making crybabies. Just because you are not better does not mean that world is not fair. Please explain this "holdback" and "14 year old" 2023 teams theory.

YJ are a legit 2023 team based on age.

Please the age difference. 12 months, 9 months, 3 months? Every player in Maryland on a 23 team are 14 years of age? Every player in NY are 12 and new birthday 13? And if your YJ girls were just 2 or 3 months older then they could compete and win?
