I guess smash is overrated. First real tournament of the year for them and can’t even make it to championship? Typical hype for this team. Keep bringing more players from around the country though. Maybe one day you’ll be as good as express. This team in for a rude awakening at Millon in a few weeks if it can’t handle this tournament. Hear lots of unhappy parents and players on this team too. Coach overbearing and can’t do anything without a certain players “permission”. Kiss the ring. So 9-1MD beat 9-1Smash with out coach and player that started fight after being banned? Sounds like that coach is a great instructor, but shouldn't be coaching in competitive situations where his emotions are out of control.

What is going on? Maryland Roughriders and FCA were two of the worst teams in the HoCo league for most of the season.
Did the add players for the playoffs and summer?

All MD teams in semis of Crabfeast. Too bad NY teams not playing there. Would be good to see the match ups Do Igloo and Leading Edge not count as NY teams? I know they aren't Express and 9-1, but NY was represented. Why would Express send their B team to MD and leave their A team home to play in a local tourney? You could have played those teams all spring. Crab feast is always one of the top tourneys of the summer.

Will he have the guts to deal with it or keep cashing the royalty checks? Extremely talented kids are quitting lacrosse because of the way 9-1MD is being run.

RoughRiders added NO players. Team was in every game in the HoCo league. Started slow in the spring and has been on a roll ever since. Well coached by some of the best around. They play as total team and are fun to watch.

Coaching and player development unlike some teams from HOCO that peaked in the spring.

RR playing to their potential this Summer. No roster adds since fall. FCA has a new player or 2, but beat Crabs handily in Semis. No way Crabs were tired after the games they played Saturday.

RRers had some uncharacteristically bad performances in the Spring, and simply had a great tournament this weekend, hallmarked by great team defense. Can't speak for FCA, but the RRers have not added a single new player to their roster since last Fall.

Igloo missed the playoffs at crabfeast. Laxachewsitts beat them bad, 10-4. Richmond Hawks, Annapolis Hawks, Resolute, Crabs, MDRoughriders, Stickstar Dallas, Laxachewsettes and FCA advancing. Most surprising is that Madlax went 0-3. Least surprising is Crabs had an easy Pool. 3 good wins today for MD Roughriders against Richmond Hawks, Annapolis Hawks, then FCA to win the Crabfeast Championship at 2022. They beat a strong Resolute OH team to win IMLCA Championship last weekend. Good to see some teams are actually getting better. That's the true mark of good coaching and really what all of this should be about. FCA and Roughriders are improving. True dat'

This has been a problem since day 1 - Millon’s antics, Daddy ball at the high school level, players leaving the club because of promises made about recruiting, no daddy ball, high level coaching, customer service etc. never happened. 9-1 MD exists solely for the purposes of giving its director free reign with his two sons teams to the exclusion of the rest of club and to line the pockets of corporate. Nobody in NY has cared what is happening with MD after year one.

Two weekends in a row there have been bench clearing brawls with MD teams (T9-1MD & Roughriders) vs Long Island teams (T9-1Smash & Outlaws).
What is causing these teams to loose control?

What happened today at TriStar with T9-1MD and Smash? Huge brawl. What started it. 9-1MD coach banned from tournament? Refs wanted to fight T9-1MD coach according to his twitter.
Millon crying about being called names on Twitter. He is a mini Trump...someone needs to keep stop his emo reactive tweeting. Except Millon deserves it! He is everything that has ever been wrong with youth sports/club lacrosse. A complete jerk to everyone. Its all about him. Worst part is that he is raising another generation of laxholes.

2 years in a row #9 attackman on 91MD gets tossed for throwing punches. 2 years in a row, the 91MD coach gets tossed for yelling at refs. 2 years in a row, both get to participate in games the next day. You cant lose control if you never had control.

Frustration on the Outlaws part in their game against the Roughriders. Losing 9-5 with 3 minutes left in the game, thinking the game was being called in a one-sided fashion by the refs, and having just been called for 2 penalties on the same play (1 most likely a 2-minute, non-releasable one), that frustration boiled over. No lose of control by the Roughriders. Look homeward, angels.

We put our kids in these pressure cookers on these teams and set these expectations. Look at these tight games. Kids don't see the field, shorting the bench to win, fine. But kids don't even see the field in a youth lacrosse game. They are too young to carry this weight and it will boil.over. And this is teaching the wrong life lessons in my opinion, and it's why everyone sits white knuckled watching and two men going back and forth on twitter. This all starts with us parents and the choices we (collectively) make.
A lot of you will look back and it will change your perspective one day.

Interesting to watch how some teams progress. Hats off to the MD RR and FCA for their summer season improvements. Looks like these squads (or at least their coaches) study film, make game plans and make great in game tactical adjustments. Running a good box is also critical in close contests.

You're dealing with tired hot gents who only want the game to end early and for their paycheck to clear.. Being in the right position on the field to make the call, remembering whether we're playing NCAA or high school rules and coordinating with their fellow refs are objectives best left for the spring season. The great thing is the games don't matter and the kids figure this out pretty quickly. Generally only the adults truly care. LOL

Many bad calls in that game went in Outlaws favor, especially during the first half and despite some cheap play and trash talk all game off-ball from Outlaws players. Dont make excuses because your team unraveled down the stretch and was out-played.

Igloo Schwalje United O'Reilly 1st teams that are on the same level are True Blue, Hitmen, Empire A and Force If your son is not playing on one of the elite teams, these are the teams to play for imho Schwalje won 2 of 5 games in the 'B' division this weekend! United won 2 of 5 games in the "A" division this weekend and played top tier teams!

Great first week of club lacrosse. Smash is back, Looks like they got bigger and faster at every position. Going to be tough to beat with or without JR.
Week 1 Ranks;
1. Smash 2. West Coast Starz 3. Crabs 4. Primetime 5. Igloo 6. DC Express 7. Team 91 MD 8. HHH 9. Leading Edge 10. API Diamond Backs
LI Express had a bunch of kids missing do to injury. Will be interesting to see how the Holdback Hawks do this year with out their big Goalie who now plays for the Crabs. Big Move by the LI Express this week. Smash still the top dog after killing everyone in a town tournament. New teams to top 10 Hawks, Juiced Cherries, MD Roughriders and Resolute OH. Week 2 Rankings 1. Smash 2. LI Express 3. Crabs 4. Primetime 5. Hawks 6. DC Express 7. BBL 8. Juiced Cherries 9. MD Roughriders 10. Resolute OH Week 3 update?

United won 2 of 5 games in the "A" division this weekend and played top tier teams! Again, this is probably JM (aka Dingleberry) and his United crew trying to say how good United is. United lost every game on Saturday. United lost to: 2Way 7-4 Express Chan 8-3 9D1 Maryland 9-2 They were never even competitive in any of those games. United ended up ranked #6 out of 7 teams in AA division and lost every game in regular play. They are definitely not a AA team. On Sunday, they entered the consolation round (ranked #6) and won their 2 consolation games. Schwalje won only one game going 1-2 in regular play in the A division and won 1 out of 2 games in the consolation round on Sunday. Schwalje, O'Reilly, Chucks and United are failed experiments from Express and 9D1. Chan tried to capitalize on winning the World Series of Youth Lax last year by creating 4 teams. He only cares about his AA team, but with 4 teams he has about 35 kids on AA, 20 kids on the other 2 teams for a total of 95 kids. Multiply that times $3800 in up front tuition (they charged more for other training throughout the year), that is almost $400k. The Chucks team barely has enough kids showing up to practice and their coach does not show up either. O'Reilly and Schwalje picked up some kids so they got better. Parents really got screwed by Chan and thought he would bring down some of the AA kids to help out the other three teams and keep them as contenders, but instead Express keeps one dominant AA team and has 3 other teams to profit from which cannot compete at a B level. 9D1 keeps 22 kids on Smash. Great roster size, great coaching and great skill sets if you can make that team, but that team is pretty much closed. Dingleberry and his 9D1 United team has almost as many kids as Chan - 30 kids! They kept getting bigger and kept picking up new kids. They picked up two kids last week, right at the start of summer tourney season. Talk about screwing parents over who paid, practiced and played all year, only to keep getting new kids AND getting 2 new additions right before summer play. Never play for a coach who holds tryouts, then picks up kids throughout the year. One parent told me the joke on that team is "who else is going to show up for practice?" They say EVERYONE who showed up to practice for that team was allowed on, no one was cut. Any travel team that takes your money and keeps over 25 kids is a joke. With all these kids, the best they can do is win 2 consolation games? With tryouts around the corner, ask yourself if you want to pay this kind of money to play for Express with too many teams or with 9D1 United who will add kids throughout the year and still can't win. You can believe United will keep adding kids until they finally win some time next year. The next teams to consider are: F$G Outlawz Iglooo B Legacee After the above teams come True Blue, Hitmen, Empire, Force and possibly the new team called Rebels. If they don't know you by now, your kid is not getting on Igloo AA, Chan AA or 9D1 AA. Those teams are far too talented, the kids have played together for a long time and they are closed teams. Stay away from Express' B, C and D team. They are actually all C teams whose claim to fame is they all practice with Chan's AA team, but suffer from coaches and kids not showing up. Stay away from 9D1 United. Dingleberry will just take your money and add kids all year!

I’ll make a comment on youth sports in general and as to IMO these altercations are occurring. I was at a 2022 tourney a few weeks ago and the teams aren’t important. But what is important across the board is the behavior of the coaches on the sidelines when they don’t get a call or have any issues with the refs. It’s deploable. Now not all, but many fall into this category. The sideline attitude transfers to the players on the field. The constant screaming at the refs transcends to the players and they start chirping at the refs/other players as well. This is youth sports and is unacceptable. Many of these coaches are gentlemen off the field and go off the rails on the sidelines. We are all competitive in nature but teaching to play hard and clean and respect your opponent and honor the game have gone completely out the window. I witnessed at least 3 kids on the opposing teams chirping at the refs who made a call against their team. Don’t get me wrong, the team my son was a guest on the coach was not quiet at all and rode the refs hard. Personally, if one of my players spoke to the refs in anything other then a respectful manor, I would pull them off the field myself as a coach and bench them without any prompting. Meanwhile one of the players chirping at the ref had 4-5 personal fouls in the game and played every minute he wasn’t in the box, also a bad message to send IMO.
The bottomline for me is, set a good positive example for the players(kids) and they will be respectful. Set the tone we currently are, and expect more bad behavior. If I was a ref and a child spoke to me in a disrespectful manner, both teams would get a warning and the next time any player would be ejected from any game I reffed. The refs aren’t punching bags and yes bad calls are made, but the direction of all youth sports is going in a direction it shouldn’t be.

Smash has 1 player and hardly deserves 2nd on this list. Primetime is just like any of the bottom of the list too- all very equal . Good but equal. RR and Express certainly deserve top spots with back to back titles in very good tournaments.

Very well said! Your statements also apply to the parents on the sideline. Players feed off parent actions and attitudes. The issue with refs at these tournaments is consistency! It just seems like the rules are willy nilly. Either the refs cant be bothered to read tourney rules or the tourneys organizers dont care to properly inform the refs...... Probably both....

What are the best 5 "B" teams on Long Island? Forget that they should AA or A or whatever.....who are the best 5 2nd teams on LI? I would think United and Igloo are up there.... Who are you? I cannot attest to all your issues with United BUT this is the best, most honest, most accurate assessment of the clubs ever posted to this site!!!! Sadly, bravo. Money corrupts everthing, including youth sports.

Thank you for sharing, I couldn't agree more. I'm not going to profess that I have an easy fix, but it 100% starts and finishes with the adults. Coaches, Parents, Aunts/Uncles... If WE spread positive, the kids follow. If WE display self-control in the face of adversity, the kids will follow. I LOVE this game. It's sad what can be seen, not all the time, but too often, at these games. And for what?! A T-Shirt?! Club Directors have the greatest responsibility to the game, and that is to help foster better sportsmanship at these pay-for-play tournaments. Winning IS NOT, everything! COMPETING IS! In particular when the competitors have fought hard, and HONORABLY. CLUB DIRECTORS: Pony up! Give back to the game that has enriched you. Start a Coalition for positive change in youth lacrosse that promotes friendship, competition and respect! I'm sure US Lacrosse, or any local lacrosse organization would welcome the leadership.

Week 3 update?
1. LI Express (last two weekends earned this) 2. Smash 3. Primetime 4. MD Roughriders 5. Hawks 6. BBL 7. Crabs 8. 91 MD 9. DC Express 10. Resolute OH
Kinda agree but I wouldn't put the Hawks in 5th on any list for this age group- they would beat the 4 ahead of them 2 out of 3 times. Smash has 1 player and hardly deserves 2nd on this list. Primetime is just like any of the bottom of the list too- all very equal . Good but equal. RR and Express certainly deserve top spots with back to back titles in very good tournaments.
Agree that Hawks are better than 5. RR undefeated this summer. Express deserving with 2 ships in a row. FCA demolished Crabs and lost tight game to RR so should be on the list. 91MD has no business being on this list at all. A lot of parity among clubs this summer which makes it great to watch. More interesting when games are less predictable.

Completely agree with your comments. I would ask the refs to know the rules and do their best. Don't just show up for a paycheck. Parents pay upwards of $2k for a summer of lacrosse plus travel and hotels. Respect the game and know the rules (NCAA or high school) and take pride in your sport. You're the only folks (aside from the tourney organizers, club directors and coaches) getting paid out there.

Great first week of club lacrosse. Smash is back, Looks like they got bigger and faster at every position. Going to be tough to beat with or without JR.
Week 1 Ranks;
1. Smash 2. West Coast Starz 3. Crabs 4. Primetime 5. Igloo 6. DC Express 7. Team 91 MD 8. HHH 9. Leading Edge 10. API Diamond Backs
LI Express had a bunch of kids missing do to injury. Will be interesting to see how the Holdback Hawks do this year with out their big Goalie who now plays for the Crabs. Big Move by the LI Express this week. Smash still the top dog after killing everyone in a town tournament. New teams to top 10 Hawks, Juiced Cherries, MD Roughriders and Resolute OH. Week 2 Rankings 1. Smash 2. LI Express 3. Crabs 4. Primetime 5. Hawks 6. DC Express 7. BBL 8. Juiced Cherries 9. MD Roughriders 10. Resolute OH Week 3 update? Why are we ranking teams when these teams are all playing in different tournaments, in different brackets, different states, different refs, some teams change their roster from tourney to tourney, etc. etc. Most of them have never even played against each other. This makes zero sense. This guy thinks he is the all star statistician. I can't believe you are actually chomping at the bit for his next Paul Carcaterra wannabe ranking

It does mean nothing other than some teams rhat were not considered elite a year ago, are now playing really well. No big deal. Nobody ranking (me included) ever boasted qualifications or claimed to have them, just makes conversation, until somebody has something negative to add.. So, please, respectfully, turn off your blog police sirens.
