It really doesn't matter, all clubs will have a recruiting path. The bottom line is if your daughter is good, she will be recruited and it doesn't matter where you play. Where you play has to do with who is going to make your daughter as good as she can get. Who provides the training, coaching, organization that will help her get to the next level.

By the way did any of you check out what Igloo put together for Nov 5th. 15 Top Division 1 head Coaches will be here on the Island including Shannon Smith. Look at this list of Head Coaches; might have to sign up for this.
Coaches Committed So Far:
Maryland – Cathy Reese
Hopkins – Janine Tucker
Stony Brook – Joe Spallina
Syracuse – Gary Gait
Oregon – Katrina Dowd
Yale – Erica Lagrow
Georgetown – Ricky Fried
Florida – Amanda O’Leary
Notre Dame – Christine Halfpenny
Stanford – Amy Bokker
Penn State – Missy Doherty
Loyola – Jen Adams
Dartmouth – Danielle Spencer
Hofstra – Shannon Smith
UPENN – Karin Brower Corbett

Sign up, why? What age is your daughter? Most of those top schools are done recruiting 2019's and done with 2020's except some roster round outs. The next top group to get recruited will be 2021's and you are over two years away from communicating. If you have a 2020 close but undecided on one of the schools it may make sense.

At over 400$ for a one day event that is not invite only is total money grab and joke. If you are a good player, you do not need this, if you are mediocre, they are robbing you!

You are probably right, and I'm sorry I signed up for it. I was on the fence and should have passed.

$435 is absolutely insane for a one day camp. I paid $50 more for a 4 Day team camp with top college coaches there for my oldest and that included room and board for the nights for 4 days.

I don't think Shannon Smith is the selling point for this event, more like which one of these schools doesn't belong with the rest

These coaches only have 2.5 - 3.0 scholarships to carve up each year and then they take an 8-10 freshman class. A straight 8 kids each year should equal 32 player roster but lots of Jr's and Sr's dont finish with the team. But I guess when you are in for 10,20,$30,000 in your kids clubs carreer what's another $425 right?

Take the $425 and sign them up for an SAT class. Much better spent. Good Luck

With all the recruiting tournaments in Maryland on the same weekend its surprising that these coaches would travel to watch age groups as young as 2023 on Long Island. It just doesn't make sense.

That's what I was just thinking of. That is generally a big weekend in Maryland. Maybe the early registrants can get their money back...

This is run by IGL$$ . It's a money grab for them. There is no way all those coaches are coming. [lacrosse] will freeze over before they come to watch 2023 kids. They did the boys last year and the same thing happened 1/2 the coaches on IGL$$ website were not there. Plus new recruiting rules they will definitely not be there. Its about the all mighty dollar for IGL$$. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Great post AA, and nice try. But you scheduled this on the wrong weekend for you to make a $. All of YJ 2021s, and I'm sure TGs as well, will be down in MD for Primetime on 11/4 and Rivalry on 11/5. That's where these coaches should be as well. $400 to be seen by assistants, no thanks. I'd rather my daughter be playing against some great competition at a much cheaper price. Bad timing AA and you are charging too much.

Each coach will be paid $5000+, to attend.

The Igloo event will likely be cancelled though. It will be tough to get 320 girls who won't be playing with their club team that day to lay down $435.

I'd rather wait to to to an invite only event where the coaches know they will be seeing top talent. This is meaningless because anyone can attend and the talent will not be there. Coaches are smarter than that.

They are not getting 5,000 bucks each to attend. Igloo probably paying them 1,500 plus hotel . They will get a big turnout because some LI clubs won't be in MD for fall tourney and those schools will send asst. coaches to MD

There you go - that sounds like a win - win for options that weekend.
Spend $425 stay home and go to that showcase and be seen by top D1 coaches.
Spend about the same in gas, tolls and hotels and go to Maryland and be seen by the other D1 coaches.
I love this travel lacrosse thing.

80 kids per age x 4 ages = 320 kids
320 x $435 = $139200
15 coaches / 139200 = 9280 per coach per kid.
How much do you think they are splitting that up by?

There is no way you are getting 80 girls per age group at $435 bucks. YJ and TG will be away that weekend. I doubt the younger age group parents are spending that kind of money on 2022, 2023 with the new recruiting rules in effect.

I'm actually considering signing both my girls up for it. We could have some extra cash if we sell our Jets tickets off this year. But, I am still trying to decide which would be more worthwhile going to.

80 kids per age x 4 ages = 320 kids
320 x $435 = $139200
15 coaches / 139200 = 9280 per coach per kid.

You are missing the point. The top end talent that the coaches THINK they are coming to see (YJ,TG) will be down in MD. When the assistant coaches from all those schools show up to this thing and realize they are watching some nice kids from 90+1, Igloo, Beach Bums, etc. they are going to be PISSED, other than for their checkbook. Once they realize the warmup line drills are all about ball chasing, they'll checkout.

The Pats tickets will probably go quickly and easily if you are not concerned about who is buying.

The coaches were fully engaged last year at the boys Elite 80 and it sees the coach had a lot fun. Also with the new roles in effect - there are not "recruiting" 7, 8, 9th graders anyway. So it is a clinic/camp where the coaches get paid (yes) they have fun - well run event; and the kids can experience being coached by a DI coach.

You're nuts if you think they are all coming here for $1,500 each plus expenses, they can stay home and get 50-100 kids to show up at $100 each anytime they want to and it it's a 3-4 hour clinic in their own backyard.

I think it was mentioned earlier that half the coaches listed for last years boys event didn't show up - this is fact

My daughter will be trying out for TG this Saturday. How is the tryout run? Drills, scrimmages? Is it fair? Which years have the strongest teams? Looking to make a change from another well known club and are hoping for the Black team, but I realize that it is sometimes hard to break onto a top team.

By the way did any of you check out what Igloo put together for Nov 5th. 15 Top Division 1 head Coaches will be here on the Island including Shannon Smith. Look at this list of Head Coaches; might have to sign up for this.

Get this off the TG thread! Nobody cares about this crappy overpriced "camp," "showcase" or whatever else you want to call it. No good players will be there so why would anyone spend that kind of money unless they are a total fool. Back to TG related business please!

Your club director and coach cares enough to put her name on it and take their money - just like she takes yours!
