Could not agree with u more.
Top teams in the past were only a few, u can grab the best athletes put sticks in their hands and sit back as a coach in cruise control. the boys on Long Island have adapted by the pressure of so many competitive teams in their backyard. It's just not express any more/lol. The boys play as a unit, team offense & team defense in boys are a fine tuned oil machine. LI boys are competing and winning against older more athletic md teams solely because of Team play. The trend for girls is starting to happen with other organizations, there a few girls LI organizations starting doing it and visibly can see top teams outside of Ny have followed suit. All true. The boys teams invest more in coaching the teams. However, you also pay a lot more. YJ is a bargain compared to boys lacrosse, not even counting the additional gear boys need to play the game. Club fees are $2500+ for 5-6 tournaments and spring/summer practices. A true A team that practices and plays year round is $4-5k without travel expenses. My point is - you get what you pay for.

Igloo coach kid is star of team The other big girl is just as good. Basketball player who won the game for them against TG. Stop with the coaches daughter. Yeas she is good but not the whole team by any means. They pick up a couple more big athletic girls and they'll be unstoppable.

Once the coach's kid came off the field against YJ at Nationals the team went from a 5 goal advantage to being tied. Coach's kid had to come back in injured and score the game winning goal with 5 sec left. Yes she is the team the rest are role players.

Most YJ coaches are average at best. Many are just being played by manipulative parents. These coaches are overmatched on so many levels its not even funny

This is a Yellow Jacket Thread...we don't give a crap about some Igloo girl and her performance against TG. Irrelevant. The 2017-2018 Yellow Jackets season has already started. Pool party, practices, sign ups for Fall tournaments and winter leagues. It is a years long process and behind all the nasty talk and inane babble is a core that will be just fine! Go YJ.

2023 "A" is desperate for a coaching change. Lack of good coaching is apparent. Now we have a 3 year track record of poor coaching. Especially from the assistant coach (or is he the head coach). Definitely does not know the game of lacrosse. Has all that talent and he craps the bed every year.

Multiply that by 26 teams to get a grand total of $1,092,000. Thats not counting indoor and all the other stuff. It's really an embarrassment. You would think if you were making that kind of money you would be scared of ruining your brand. Guess not.

Only about 10% of the girls and families are happy there. The rest of you are fools for giving her the other 900k. No need to change when the lemmings keep dropping dollars and a dream.

Many more girls will be leaving this year. Heard a few were at Igloo tryouts, and I'm sure many will also be at TG. The bottom girls on those teams should be worried.

Why should the bottom girls be nervous ? According to everyone YJ sucks. Make up your [lacrosse] minds . If a kid in any team is a ship jumper , then who needs them . I played high level collegiate sports unlike most of you weekend warriors and you can never rely on weak ego driven people. There is always a reason to leave a team , whether it be a coach, parents, lack of talent etc. Good players make the kids around them better and not the other way around . There are 3 to 4 legit teams on LI. Pick one and make them better . Don't wait for another team to do all the hard work and then jump on their bandwagon . Work harder and play hard. Sometimes you eat the lion and sometimes it eats you. Good luck to all the kids this fall and maybe all stay healthy .

UNBELIEVABLE ! Never really thought about how much $$$$ CR makes with YJ. What's more unbelievable is that she doesn't give a crap about the coaching and the BS that is going with the 2023 Thorne team. The simple solution would be to remove both coaches and get a real one and stop screwing all the folks who pay her.

Sometimes you eat the lion and sometimes it eats you. Good luck to all the kids this fall and maybe all stay healthy . There are quite a few very good players on the YJ blue team that barely get any playing time, a couple have left. There are also girls who have been promoted up, but "jumped ship", and I hear are very happy. I would expect more of the same this year after another season of the team as a whole getting worse, not better. It s not about working harder when the coach plays favorites and is clearly not in control of the team. Sometimes a new team where you are appreciated and valued can make all the difference. Especially at this age. Luckily now LI has several great options other than YJ. Now, some girls that may be at the bottom of the pecking order on teams like TG and Igloo may get bumped, but that's life. Good luck to all the girls and families doing what feels right.

You people are hilarious . Igloo will not survive . Every once in a while you get one of those teams that pop up and are decent then a few defect to YJ because they realize the recruiting opportunities are better or they get tired of the daddy coach running everything they his kid and the team falls apart .Same thing happens to TG as their better players defect to YJ for the connections , same as the 2019, 2020 group and they are left with little .

Haha, that is funny, especially in lieu of the opposite occurring. If you haven't noticed, the good players are not flocking to YJ over the past two years, rather away. What makes you think anyone will want to go to that team with the mess it is? As for Igloo, yes, the father coaches daughter is a great player, who deserves to be on the field, complete opposite of the YJ parents kids. He also uses the rest of the team effectively and has developed a great comradery there. The girls are happy. As for recruiting, since both of those teams have surpassed YJ, recruiting will not be a problem, as coaches look for the best girls.

Stop. Jackoffalone is not even a lax coach. No experience or crrdentials. Has no clue how to coach (as seen over last 3 years) . Freaking joke. Get rid of this guy .

As for recruiting, since both of those teams have surpassed YJ, recruiting will not be a problem, as coaches look for the best girls. The same thing is happening in NJ with Steps. They used to have very strong teams because the best NJ girls would automatically go there. Now some very good players are playing with other clubs instead and turning down invites for their A teams. The 2019 and older teams were legitimately very good. The 2020s and below, not so much. The 2021s lost to another NJ team a month ago. This would have been unthinkable a few years ago, just like YJ would never have lost to another LI team (but recently did). Not only are some of the best players not bothering to try out, but they're also picking too many girls based on politics. The coaching is often horrible. The director is sending out desperate emails suggesting that he's the only reason players commit to top schools. He doesn't seem to realize that 99% of the credit belongs to the players, not the club. With the recruiting rule change, the club directors are almost irrelevant now. College coaches have all the time in the world to watch the girls play. The best will stand out with or without a club director's input. YJ and Steps are almost the same: the owners were first movers and enjoyed a great advantage for a long time. But they both seem to be living on past accomplishments. They don't seem to realize that there are other choices now. Other clubs have nearly caught up and are providing more value with less nonsense. I'm enjoying watching it happen.

Well said. She doesn't even have the courage to talk or face any of the parents. She is very distant from caring about what her league should be doing. Its suppose to be fun for the girls but they see the dysfunction and the discouragement from parents and other YJ players........

Is what it is . If you're counting on any club to get you recruited (especially with the new rules) you will be very disappointed. They only push their blue chip players (who don't really need the help) and the rest are a crap shoot or get steered to a school they would rather not attend, but mom and dad need to tell everyone that their daughter is committed, so they listen to the club director, go to a school that's not a fit and a year later they are miserable and looking to transfer to a school somewhere else. Go look at the YJ commit list for 2011-14 and see how many of those kids were on the roster for four years at the school listed. also, the scholarship (20-50%) you're banking on still means that your paying 30-40K for most schools, there's a lot more academic money, but I guess it's not as sexy as a sports scholarship. Do yourself a favor and put together a list of schools that your kid thinks she wants to attend and go to every camp and clinic you can and you will find out if that's a real possibility or not fairly quickly. In the meantime get that SAT prep course started...

Igloo has one good age group at this point , have seen it before , they will collapse .Again it just takes a few of the top girls to realize no girl has ever been recruited from Igloo. They will realize CR has a relationship with virtually every coach from any top program and will want to use her connections which she will be only too happy to do .You clowns act like no other top YJ team have lost in the past to other LI clubs , they have , then CR steps in and takes the better players, see 2019,2020 TG teams . ^^^^^^^^^ Very good advice, spot on actually.

The Club director was involved in helping my kid get noticed and she is on their top team but definitely not considered a top 10 player on the team. A lot more academic money? Couple problems with that . First you will not know what academic money you will qualify for until very late in the process and getting academic money at some of the more competitive schools is in my opinion harder than getting athletic.

2023 "A" doomed to be mediocre! CR knows they can't compete in more that one game per day. All the work goes to 1 girl and when she is gassed, it's over. CR is stuck with a lousy Asst. coach (scared to get rid of him) who is the boss of the Head coach in real life. Nothing will change on "A" and 2023 will continue to under perform. What she needs is a qualified A coach, a legitimate tryout/evaluation where the actual A coach pays attention during the tryout (unlike last year which everyone saw, what an embarrassment,) and some BALLS to make a change (which won't happen). "A" coaches should have been relieved of their jobs last year after their tryout behavior.

If your kids going to school to get a degree in lacrosse then your already a lost cause. Your kid gets noticed or doesn't on her own, if the school is a fit it's a fit, if it isn't it isn't, very few coaches looking to take kids as a favor anymore, except maybe Syracuse and his roster of 45-55 players and 80% of those kids aren't getting any athletic money. also academic scholarships don't go away, however, when better players emerge and you're are now at the bottom of the depth chart there goes that 10K scholarship that you've been bragging about to anyone that would listen...

Unless it's Big Ten or Pac 12, where scholarships are guaranteed for all four years.

Did your daughter commit before, or after, the rule change? Would have to be a 2018 (or older) if she did it after the change. 2019s have 3 more weeks before they can start committing again.
The main point is that the rule change shifted a huge amount of power FROM club directors TO college coaches and recruits. I think most people would agree that club directors can still help marginal players over the hump at some schools, especially schools having trouble filling their last spots. Doesn't seem likely to happen often at the better lacrosse schools or the better academic schools. Recruits flood them with interest, and college coaches have plenty of time to see anyone they are actually interested in. No more club directors talking up a 14 or 15 year old girl. The girl's ability will do most of the talking now.
