I'm not one to post on this site, especially about another kid, but the things you guys were saying about the St.Ants kid is absolute crap. That kid is great! She was at Elite 80 yesterday and she looked good! She got recognition from many coaches and she seems like a nice girl, as I saw her smiling and joking around with my kid and the other players. Stop making this kid seem like something she is not... Very quick player and a great shooter. If I was a coach that would be a commit right on the spot.

Looks like kid already has a good relationship with the coaches. Never gives any kid another chance to shine... I’m not hating but it’s a good thing the kid and her parents are humble and don’t look for attention.

While all the other 2020 kids were not there. Nobody in that age group that is decent Lax player was not on LI yesterday I agree. The timing of the LI Elite 80 makes no sense. Why have this in the middle of one of the biggest Fall Tournament Weekend? All the top teams were at one of the tournaments in Maryland this weekend. So the talent level had to be pretty low at this event.

It was a great event, Well organized and put together, with 14 top D-1 Head Coaches right here on Long Island giving hands on personal attention. All the girls had a wonderful time and so did the coaches. whether the talent was high/low it was a much better option staying home with access to all those coaches rather than being in Maryland playing for no coaches as they were all here.

I'm guessing your kid is really so talented, that you would rather they play for Asst's than actual head coaches. Trying to be insulting but in facet you both sound so stupid.

Who do you think does the actual recruiting for these schools? You paid a bunch of money for a clinic. Plus Igloo paid those coaches a bunch of money to be there. Money Grab if there ever was one.

Those programs have tons of kids on their roster from the B team clubs who weren't playing in Maryland this weekend and were able to attend. If only we could have a list of girls that were there and look back in 3 years and see that this was all just a waste of time and money. Hate to break it to you, but there were a TON of coaches at the Maryland events that were there to watch the actual top players in each class. So you go ahead and think that just because one of those coaches saw your daughter who couldn't even make the YJ C team that she's getting that big scholarship...Meanwhile the talent was a few hours south with hundreds of coaches that were there to actually find players for their programs.

Let these people mouthing off on something they weren't involved in, speculate negatively all they want, we don't want them in on it anyway.

You do realize these are money grabs? have you noticed how many of these venues are out there now after the recruiting rule change? If your kid plays for a good club team they will find her... and btw the assistants were in Maryland...if they like your kid's play they will put you on a watch list....so keep spending the extra $ the head coaches are thanking you at Christmas time!

Blah, Blah, Blah...Why do you care so much what others do with their money? Money grab or not, it's MY money and I decide what I do with it. Just as you chose to waste YOURS in Maryland or wherever you were this weekend. I chose to spend MINE where I chose....Club lacrosse is the ultimate money grab and waste, and we all still pay it, but you don't hear me lecturing you about it. So just shut up ad go away! Sorry you couldn't pull the funds together to send your kid. We get it, your kid wasn't there so you're annoyed and can't let it go. 2 days of talking about this is tiring.. Let's talk about all the coaches that saw your kid in this weekend.

And let me guess! The club programs are not, thanking you @ Christmas time lol. Oh I get it my little Suzy is committed,or maybe not but still pays for tryouts, for the same team they been playing with for over a decade. Oh I get it. My little Suzy is so good she does “NOT” attend anything without the other club girls because the directors told us not too. And this line, all the good girls only play for YJ. Well you should have attended Sunday’s Elite 80 and look at the 3 girls that stood out, and the coaches were going crazy for. All great shooters, field awareness, stick work, and one who would run circles around most kids on YJ. If they are not committed as of yet! They diffently left a great impression on the coaches in attendance. As some of the coaches gave special attention on field #2 to numbers 7,46, and #54 that kid is something to watch. And my daughters A team TG coach was there, a bit surprising but still an excellent event.

I wish I wasted my money at the clinic in LI verses driving to Maryland watching my daughter's YJ team get beat by a Florida team. College coaches don't keep score and or care what the score is. Way too many parents get caught up in wins and loses. It's no wonder kids today are considered the "Entitlement" generation. It's not their fault, it's the parents. Obviously we hope they train hard and play hard for the win. But you can't win them all. Your whining is not helping them. Teach them how to handle losing. Life's going to throw them curve balls and unless you prepare them now, they'll be whiners just like you.

And a couple others as well to be fair. But those girls, I apologize in advance if I’m wrong one kid was from YJ, and the other kid was from an Out of town program “Sound Lacrosse” and the very fast and versatile kid I think plays For Saint A’s no club affiliation on the roster. This is a joke right?

Left Maryland last weekend to attend Sunday night and well worth it. Prime time and Lax Clash were a waste. Especially Lax Clash, No competition to speak of. Rather have my kid one of 80 in front of 15 head coaches then 1 of several hundred in front of assistants that spend more time on their phone than watching. Although previous poster was correct that many of best players did not attend, a few did shine .Coaches know what they are looking for. Speaking of a Florida Team beating YJ's, a 2020 goalie from Florida was at showcase and was insanely good. good as any I have seen in the class.

Rather have my kid one of 80 in front of 15 head coaches then 1 of several hundred in front of assistants that spend more time on their phone than watching. Although previous poster was correct that many of best players did not attend, a few did shine .Coaches know what they are looking for. Speaking of a Florida Team beating YJ's, a 2020 goalie from Florida was at showcase and was insanely good. good as any I have seen in the class. beat by the florida team?? the studs got smoked.. funny it is supposed to be a recruiting tournament and YJ had a short bench all weekend.. haaaaaaaaaaa suckers.. The score wasn't posted?

Of course SS was there, for $5,000 she will also come to your house for three hours

The assistants are looking at the tournament rosters on their phone and taking notes. There are others with tablets if they prefer to carry the extra device. But, there are very few that carry the big binders around in their hands. Those are usually in their backpacks or they just opt not to get one. The coaches that do receive programs/rosters from some teams at fields will usually use those to jot down notes or check to see who is committed because the rosters passed out by the teams are up to date. If you think those assistants that are sitting near you are not paying attention and just texting away to their buddies - you are probably one of those parents spouting off constantly at the refs and trying to coach your kid from the sidelines. We are on our third and last kid in this process/game - the coaches don't need to watch for too long and they also are not concerned about how good your kid is dodging around cones or picking up ground balls at a clinic. They want to see how your kid performs against the Maryland kids or deals with adversity while getting beat by a Maryland team. If your team just rolled over the competition - good, then I hope your daughter won with grace and showed sportsmanship.

Show some of that Grace and sportsmanship and allow others to do as they see fit without your expert knowledge. If you went to MD this weekend and your kids found it valuable awesome! If you went to the igloo event and your kid found it valuable awesome. To each their own

IE: The Elite 120 which truly was with some exceptions the Best of the East Coast top clubs. After the new rule these are money grabs. Notice how many have popped up in the last year? If you r club is on the weaker side I guess spend the money if you think Sally is going to work hard and shine. Otherwise the coaches say Thank you for Shopping...Elite 80? really? I would love to know the make up of that group. Look up the definition of Elite- The Elite 120 was ELITE. Some of the folks who have older kids know what I'm talking about.

The Florida team you are talking about is the real deal. Seen them many times . At least 1/3 of team are 21's and believe the kid who committed to Syracuse as an 8th grader is on team . Could be best 2020 in country. They are ballers and not surprised they showed up to beat YJ's.

2020 Syracuse girl may be best in her class in Florida but not the country. I'm told she was about #6 on depth chart when she played with YJ. Great kid and very good player but not best in the country. Who the heck knows (or cares) who is best in the country anyway with girls playing in every state.

I honestly do not get why people think winnng games in showcase fall tournaments is some big deal. My older kid played YJ years ago and the fall showcase tournament were all about getting kids recruited , no stalling ,play equal time , even kids playing out of normal position at times because a college coach wanted to get a look at them playing a certain position . The same dopes would come on here claiming some kids did not get in the game blah blah.My younger one does not play YJ for many reasons but go win a championship tournament and then you can brag all you want . We played M&D this fall and I will be the first to say it was not the same team that destroyed us over the summer .

I watched the YJ game against the Florida team.....YJ was outplayed on every facet of the game..........every position..........YJ was missing two players ....that's it.......Florida Select was the better team. They have some great talent but should do more with what they have. The coaches in that group expect for the TG transfer are all inner circle YJ minions that have played and been with CR fro decades. No way its ever changing. They have made CR a ton of cash

So I hear this hold back conversation. What is considered a holdback?
1) A kid when she is 6 starts kindergarten late when a parent has no clue if he/she will be a dancer/athlete/musician?
2) A kid who's parents hold them back when they are 6-7th grade to possibly gain a in sports or any other activity.
I can see a little frustration by parents on two. But on one I really don't see how you can the kid was held back on purpose by parent.

Maybe they had a bad day , maybe they just got beat by a better team. . FL beat skywalkers as well. FL girls are holdbacjs too?

First of all if she was held back, you have no idea why she was (and if she even was). I know people that have held their kid back because they were the youngest in the grade (based on the cutoff). The kid was a genius Got a full academic ride for school. Double major and now is off to get his masters. Boy can you believe it. The horror.
The hate on this site is crazy. As a HS soccer coach (and no, I do not coach my kids) the parents push their kids out of sports. I was at CI this last weekend and parents make this more important than it is. Kids are kids. Stop pretending this is about them when you parents are living through them.
It really is embarrassing to see parents at all of these showcases. My favorite is when I see parents laying into their kids at the parking lot after the game.
I am on my way to the mid Atlantic and I will go watch this Florida team to see what their story is. And if they are the real deal, I will report back.

3) A parent who holds their kid back knowing it’s an advantage both in the classroom and athletic field who had no other reason to do so at the time ie kid was meeting all physical and mental mile stones. Yes the Florida kid is a holdback being more than a full year older than many of the other 2020 players , that said YJ should keep their mouths shut as they have a few also.

I guess I have never heard of a parent say that kid is a holdback that is why he is smarter than my kid. LOL.
You would think we would hear that a lot as academics and grades are much more important than your lax ability. Except of course here on Long Island.
I hope people can enjoy the game there kids are playing, stop bashing others and make sure they do their homework in between games as that is what matters.

what was sad about the Curcio team is that she played the studs when the non committed players sat on the sidelines while college coaches watched the game, which most left at halftime as there was not need to watch the game knowing she was playing a short bench... and her team still lost to M&D Black again. The formula of playing kids out of position is not working. They beat the average team but will lost to the top teams. It has been this way for 2 years now and there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

yes, and the point was.. 2 years ago when Curcio played all the girls equally, they use to beat up on M&D Black.. now with her new " coaching" philosophy of play to win at all cost.. they have not won anything or beaten a meaningful team in 2 years . While all the other teams sub out, you have to see the gassed middies not being able to get back and help on defense which puts the defense in a bad situation .. then switch middies with attack and defense.. not realizing that attack players cant man up and defend, don't know now to slide or communicate on defense.. they only know how to ride... M&D embarrassed them again.. they seem to have it right.. they play everyone equally. and in the last game on Sunday.. which was a SHOWCASE game.. M&D played their backup goalie who was not committed 3/4 of the game to get her looks.. that is what a real organization who cares about their players do... gets all the kids looks.. Good luck with the summer of 2018.. wont be any different than the summer of 2016 or 2017. Oh and can't wait for certain girls who wont show up to the " mandatory " winter practices.. while Curcio said if you don't show up you wont play.. how she will enforce that??? she didn't enforce it this weekend I can tell you that.

yes, and the point was.. Nobody cares in that group, that whole me first group is committed. They paid into the devil, they had bad coaching, the parents are terrible to be around but at the end they all got exactly what they wanted, a verbal commitment. Good for the girls but its still toxic club and hideous parents. Those parents embrace being disliked

When you get that basic fact wrong everything else you say is just obviously bs. Go back to the hole you crawled out of.

Facts are your "team" doesn't win nearly as much as they used too, the philosophy was in the past was somewhat of a "team" defenders played defense, middies played midfield and attackers played attack. Now you have attackers that can't score or feed, middies who are gassed and defenders who well God only knows, I don't even want to get into your goalie situation. So have fun killing each other and yes your star parents have made a stink to both your coach and CR its not a secret....... its not working but its not a secret

If that is the case they should shut their mouths because they were told what was to come. If she went back on her word than people would have something to complain about. That said I watched them play last week and in no way did they seem to be playing to win at all costs so this seems to be a couple disgruntled parents acting like cowards instead of speaking directly with the coach.

2020's with CR Curcio and Jones have rode the gravy train for almost 9-10 years with this group. If I was part of that group and still not committed I would be screaming my head off because wins don't matter at this point but playing time does as kids try to get college looks.

Actually I was just going on the info on this site and the 20 minutes of a game I watched while my daughters team warmed up. I know its nonsense because I know they beat MD this fall so after that anything that poster says has to be considered unreliable at best. I think its hilarious that some of you morons just don't see how ridiculous your comments are. Say what you want but looking at their list of commits tells me that in getting kids committed there is no better team in the age group so the way Curcio is running the team is working out just fine for the kids on the team, results don't lie. You all come on with subjective criticism and nothing concrete that can actually be checked but when you look at the facts its trolls that team is doing great.

Dont you two idiots get it? it doesnt matter who won or lost in these games!!!! the Coaches dont care! The coaches are coming to these better teams games to watch individual players!! who gives a rats [lacrosse] who wins! I get it... you like to wear your kids club teams sweatshirts around and pound your chests at the bar! In the end all that matters is are the coaches coming to watch your team! Then its up to Sally to perform as a team player!

what was sad about the Curcio team is that she played the studs when the non committed players sat on the sidelines while college coaches watched the game, which most left at halftime as there was not need to watch the game knowing she was playing a short bench... and her team still lost to M&D Black again. The formula of playing kids out of position is not working. They beat the average team but will lost to the top teams. It has been this way for 2 years now and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. the light at the end of the tunnel is that you have one more year after this to act like an [lacrosse] and then you can troll college teams and coaches

The YJ team and its coach are in a difficult spot with so many girls committed and wanting to compete at a high level, while still having a handful of kids mostly on defense still trying to get seen and committed. I don't envy the position the coach is in. For every player and family that is happy there are several that are disappointed and I don't see that ever changing. There has to be a better way of doing things if they really care about the kids. Why not limit fall events to kids not committed from various YJ teams. Do the committed kids really need to play in fall tournaments.

Do the committed kids really need to play in fall tournaments. Because then you would not have enough kids to form a team and if you then just put them with jones team no one would be happy. Its an impossible situation because there are several reasons that kids play travel . On one hand kids are playing hoping to get recruited and on the other hand you have recruited kids looking to play in competitive games. I have a suggestion that I have not heard before. Make the games two 25 minute halves, the first half no score is kept and play mostly non recruited kids the second half score is kept and teams play to win.

You would think the coaches and teammates would spread the minutes and the ball around during the fall tournaments to those who haven't verbaled but the coaches are weak and the players are incapable of being good teammates because their parents would make them walk home if they didn't go to goal.
So sad. Nobody gets it

I heard that the 2019 YJ team that played down in MD the past weekends is all the uncommitted girls. They did not shine against the MD teams in general, but, they all got looks. How are the MD teams able to have their committed girls play? Do these MD girls do lacrosse all year, even the high school juniors?

curcio's formula of putting the " best team " on the field and win at all costs is not working.. if you look back 2 years ago, they were beating everyone all while playing everyone equally.. nothing will change next year.. tight bench, parents will [lacrosse], and they still will not win a meaningful game.

You people are ridiculous . The posts about Curcios team are either a team parent who is being deliberately misleading or someone who does not have a player on the team and is just ignorant ,either way they are just trying to build up their kid by knocking others down. In reality Curcios team has beaten many top teams MD, Heroes etc this fall. Playing time last summer was essentially equal and and a little less this fall. To say they are playing to win at all cost is ridiculous , the generally considered best player on the team ( UNC commit) by the coach has not started many of the fall games .Whats worse is if this is a parent of one of the players stop being a coward and have a discussion with Curcio or go to another club and if this is some troll from another club grow up and at least get your facts straight.

The solution for the 2020s and 2019s is simple but perhaps unpalatable to money hungry club directors...split teams into "committed" and "uncommitted." The committed players can continue honing their skills, which is presumably why they continue to play club ball. The uncommitted players can focus on developing and showcasing. Place teams in brackets where they will be challenged because no college coach will value watching a blowout. Forget about the scores. Clubs will be evaluated by how well they do in positioning their players for the next level, not on any meaningless championship trophies.
Maybe clubs won't max out profits with this approach, but they would have a lot more satisfied customers.
I can dream, can't I?

Have you noticed how many more college clinics and etc are going on. There are a handful of clinics or showcases now scheduled around the Florida money grab. Now, they will have 2 extra years to siphon money off of you and still cannot talk to you. Before, it was only primarily the commits or players being recruited to specific schools that were attending the camps and clinics after freshman year or so in high school. Has anyone else noticed this?

You are forgetting about another group out there that is now making a big move to get a slice of that pie. Have you noticed how many more college clinics and etc are going on. You are spot on. College coaches are raking in money from camps and clinics.
However, let me make one contrast...
If you sign your kid up for a college camp/clinic, you are pretty well assured that she will be "seen" by a particular coach at a particular school your kid likes.
On the other hand, when you sign up for a club team and their tournaments, you are HOPING that the college coach your kid emailed will show up to watch her play AND that the club coach will put her on the field.
We'll only know on 9/1/2018 whether the choices we made for our daughters were the right ones. 289 days and counting...

Yeah ok.... Club lacrosse is the most corrupt money hungry group out there. They are so powerful they render US Lacrosse almost powerless You are forgetting about another group out there that is now making a big move to get a slice of that pie. Couldn't agree more. The delay to junior year has these college coaches foaming at the mouth for the reasons you listed above. Most coaches are only making $40-$70k per year (outside of the top lacrosse programs). These camps and clinics are helping them line their pockets and increase their total comp. These coaches hated that they had to kiss the asses of club directors making twice what they made as a college coach

If your kid is not getting the playing time you want them to get you have options ,move to another club, stay with the same club but move down to a lower team , or work harder.

I agree but I have a problem with these directors loading the rosters with 26 kids and then not playing them. If the kid is good enough to make the team, the kid should be good enough to play otherwise put 20 on the team and move #21-26 to another team. The director can't take the money and then not expect the valid criticism.

I kindly disagree.......more people are interested in kids getting committed to good colleges and getting great educations.......but if winning tournaments is the only thing that is important to you and your daughter...so be it ..... I am not judging. I am guessing every club would rather have all girls committed to go to college then a trophy....and if that isnt true....shame on that club. If there is a club that only cares about winning.....good for them....bad for the girls. you are right the girls can go somewhere else.... I don't disagree.
And i don't agree with equal playing time....the better girls get more time, that is they way it goes sometimes....but it is the clubs responsibility to get the non committed girls good playing time in showcases. But if the club would rather go 4-0 in a showcase and only play their committed players most......doesnt make much sense does it? After all, the college coaches could care less about them if they are already committed.
That being said....if you are playing in other tournaments and you want to win the trophy, as most teams want to, their best players see more time. But, hopefully that changes when a team goes to a showcase....if it doesnt then something is horribly wrong.
My initial post said showcases

Respectfully disagree , if you are going to play they should play the right way not try to "do less". I also do not get why you would distinguish who should play "more" because one tourney is championship and the other is showcase. If you start with the idea that the main purpose of these travel teams is to get as many kids recruited as possible , you have college coaches at both types of tournaments , so why treat them differently. If your coach or club tells you the majority of playing time will go to the starters and you stay with that team knowing this it's on you . Still waiting to hear where kids who want to play competitive lacrosse both in terms of competing for your spot on a team and playing against other teams is supposed to go .

That is the question I want answered as well. If you are one of the stronger players, what do you do to get better, play competitive games and compete at a high level. Those kids participate in travel lacrosse for those reasons but when you have a roster of 24 and everyone is jockeying for commitments if makes for a terrible environment for all of the players. There is no reason to have rosters of that size - rather than have 3 teams of 24 players, have 4 teams of 18. Parents would even pay more to be part of a smaller roster.

i appreciate the response....there is a difference in showcases....showcases are for all the kids ....once they are committed, it becomes for the non committed to get time. Do you really think the college coaches want to watch a team full of committed players? I am not saying they don't play....that would be silly.....but the non committed players need to get good playing time. for the better players to get better.....they have options. They can play on an older team against older competition. wouldnt this be a better solution if you wanted your daughter (player) to get a better?

i agree Do the math. Look at how much it costs to register a team for tournaments - the costs are available. Add up the total costs of all the tournaments for the year for that team, add in the practice field costs, and all the expenses. Then look at how much it costs per girl to play. For a bunch of clubs out there - the first 18 cover the costs for the year. Anything after that generally goes to paying coaches - then the club owner's pockets. If you can get 26 parents to buy into paying the money to be on a team - why stop at 18?

Many of these clubs make $50-$100k just running tryouts. They are all very smart. They know up to 28 on a team is an absolute joke but they do it for the cash. They all know a dedicated team of 18 is all they need. East to sub, easy to have like ability kids, easy everything. 26-28 is good for only one thing making them rich. And most of these clubs don't pay their coaches much. Its all going in the directors pockets. I think that's why you are seeing the C and D teams disappearing. People know its an absolute scam. And don't forget that these same directors run the tournaments, direct their teams there and then double dip!

Even if a girls committed, they still need to play. A verbal isn't worth the paper its not written on. The college coaches come to see their commits play. at the same time, a commitment can be pulled. Then if you have stopped attending, your name is not still out there. Furthermore, there is always the possibility of another school being interested and making a better offer

Again that means the player has broken the verbal most times. In general most verbals are given with some basic benchmarks that need to be met ie. gpa in a range ; sat in a range , stay out of trouble ; don’t be an [lacrosse] on social media etc. I have been around girls lacrosse a long time and have not heard of a coach rescinding on their verbal .Has it ever happened ,probably, but acting like a verbal means nothing usually comes from someone who is just bitter their kid does not have one. If you know of coaches who have done it let’s hear who.

Please tell us the coach that did not honor the verbal agreement they made with a player and not the usual "I heard" of a kid nonsense.
mochigan fired their coach and new coach did not honor verbals. Don't think it doesn't happen [/quote] I said the verbal agreement they made not that someone else made, just does not happen . Just because no one wanted your kid enough to make a verbal does not mean you have to spread [lacrosse] rumors.[/quote] So you think all verbal commits are honored?[/quote] Verbals have been pulled when the kid's academics don't cut it.[/quote] Again that means the player has broken the verbal most times. If you know of coaches who have done it let’s hear who.[/quote] All i asked if you think all verbals are honored........I didnt say they didnt mean anything......they mean the college/university sees your daughter at the institution......but that can change for a variety of reasons.......whether you agree of disagree is unimoirtant....the fact is not all verbals are honored..... for one reason or another. Maybe they committed to the kid at too young of an age,,,,and saw what an [lacrosse] they have become....or now they are a pothead...... or of various other reasons......it happens with all sports in college.......

do you honestly think that if a coach leaves and/or gets fired, that the new coach automatically keeps the commits from the prior coach??

do you honestly think that if a coach leaves and/or gets fired, that the new coach automatically keeps the commits from the prior coach?? He is not talking about if a coach leaves or gets fired. But I agree with you personally. If a kid gains 15lbs and the coach sees it, the scholarship will be taken away. If a coach gets a better player to come in your position, the coach will take it away and so on and so on .... Doesn’t matter whether I can name an instance of whether it has happened or not. It happens ..... I am not saying a lot. But if I came up with a statistic, I would say 15-20% of verbal commits are taken away by the active coach ....either because someone better came along or they realized this kid just isn’t what we thought she would become. Either way it doesn’t matter....what the reason is. A verbal commitment is meaningless until the contract is signed. With the new rule of recruiting, it is a lot better for the players and the coaches. They can actually see more of the player and personality and the kid can make a better decision on whether going to a certain school.

They get two extra years of large numbers of camp attendees as opposed to just the commits and uninformed after freshman year.

You people seem desperate. First you have the poster asking if a coach has ever gone back on their verbal as if this would make all existing verbals worthless. Then you have the clown reporting fake statistics of 15-20 percent when he cannot name one single instance of it ever happening. Now you have the other ill informed poster saying if a kid gains 20 lbs the verbal is gone, I can name multiple coaches who have honored their verbal commitment when a player has gained weight, blown out a knee, blown out the other knee, blown out the same knee again, had a kid get kicked out of school, had a kid get arrested and on and on. These players that they have honored their verbals with are not even the top of the food chain , these coaches include. NW, PSU,UNC, Cuse, MD, UVA, Duke. They honored these verbals when they easily could have said sorry you did not hold up your end of the bargain. Again you have not named one coach or one instance of them pulling their verbal . We get it your kid did not commit somewhere because " you wanted to wait and verbals mean nothing", sure.

The coaches reputation is on the line - that is why they are extremely reluctant to de-commit a player. I have been around girls lacrosse for a long time and I do not know of anyone losing their verbal commitment and that includes lots of girls getting injured. gaining weight and not improving as players etc. The original post that started this silly talk said "why continue to play travel lax if you have a roster of 24-26 and it is not helping you get better". There are better ways to improve your lax ability - 7v7's, 5v5's, stick work training, speed and conditioning, even playing other sports etc. In my experience college coaches do not care if you continue to play travel lacrosse once you are committed.

What people fail to remember once you get outside the top 15 schools or so these coaches are leaving or getting fired all the time. They don't make that much avg $40k+ so for many its not a lifelong job. When kids were verbaling in 8th grade you were hoping the coach was there 5 years later. With the move to junior year there is a much better chance the coach that recruits your daughter will still be there.
From experience, coaches almost always honor the commits they inherit but then find ways to get out of and push or force inherited players out of the program to free up those scholarship slots year 2 and 3. They make it miserable for girls they don't want around

I have a feeling that you must be a used car salesman or a timeshare pitchman since you put so little value on a person's word or credibility. It is also fairly obvious that this is your first kid through the process and it's not working out well for them. But, don't worry, in case you missed it - nobody is going to be talking to your kid for a few more months. And don't believe the people when they say that their daughter did a triple secret wink, wink, commitment and then were dropped. If I believed every single one of those parents then that mean Levy and Reese would be dropping about a dozen commits every year.

It means what it means ...........I knew a kid Jake V. is A D1 football player plays Tight end at UNC.......originally he had verbal commit from Michigan but they (the school) backed away for no apparent reason........it happens....that's all from USAToday April 2017 Does a verbal commitment guarantee a scholarship? Verbal commitments do not guarantee a scholarship, as they are unofficial verbal contracts between the athlete and coach. The NCAA does not recognize or even track verbal commitments between athletes and colleges. The only time an athlete can officially commit to a college is during the signing period, when they sign their national letter of intent. Any story you see of an athlete getting an offer or committing to a school before the signing period their senior year is unofficial. Does a college have to honor a verbal commitment? The short answer is no, but it is very uncommon for a school to just pull their offer. That said, there have been athletes who committed to a school, and when signing day came, they didn’t end up receiving an official offer. Here are a few of the common scenarios in which that might happen: There is a coaching change – When there is a coaching change at a school, it is up to the incoming coach to decide whether they want to honor the verbal commitments of the previous coach or not. The school has a history of oversigning – While the NCAA is cracking down on the practice of over-signing, a school can sign more athletes than they need on their team. There was never actually a verbal offer made – Occasionally, there are stories of athletes who were confused about the nature of their recruitment from a particular school, and they mistook general recruiting interest as a verbal commitment, without actually being extended an offer. Why do athletes verbally commit to a college? Athletes commit to colleges early because it can simplify their recruiting process. By making an early commitment, athletes signify to other coaches and their peers they are done looking at potential schools. For most sports, this means college coaches will stop recruiting them, and they can focus on finishing out their high school career without worrying about the recruiting process. Another reason an athlete might commit to a school is because the coach has extended an offer and given them a limited amount of time to accept. For example, coaches might say, “I would like to offer you a scholarship, and I need to know if you will accept in the next two weeks.” Coaches do this because they are under pressure to lock down recruits ahead of other programs.

It may take a college coach a long time to heal that wound. •Other college coaches might use it against them as long as it is effective, saying that a player can’t trust the coach’s word, which is huge in recruiting. For many coaches, when they offer a scholarship, nothing short of legal problems, a major violation of high school rules or academic failures would be cause for rescinding a committed player’s scholarship. Open communication with a coach or program is the best way to avoid any unpleasant surprises… on either end! The above is from the same website. it just does not happen especially in girls lacrosse.
