UNC had 5 Yellow Cards. #23 got two and finished her Senior campaign on the bench watching her team lose to a Navy. No one seems upset with Tar Heels ?!!!

Low character edition of Carolina this year. 23 is a bulked up borderline thug that throws her body around and a great example of how the game has changed and is a lot less fun to watch. Clearly ESPN feels the same way. Remember just a few years ago we could turn on the TV and watch in high def??? Now it's streaming over the laptop at best.

You really are a moron .You are the type of person that calls any female athlete who plays the game hard a "thug" or a female athlete who is not built like a ballerina "bulked up". My guess is your wife has probably kicked your butt a few times so you just hate all women in general. ESPN has had that player in their top 10 plays a few times so your theory is about as smart as you are .

Whether she's "bulked up"or not is not the point. The point is that she played out of control on Saturday and was a danger to the other players. Maybe it was how the coach wanted her to play that day, to get Navy off their game.

Sad

it is sad. the game is going backwards and it doesn't have to be that way. just call your rule book.

thug ball.

if she was dumb enough to think she could rattle the Women of a service academy then she got what she deserved. great to see a liberal haven get toasted by the future leaders of our country. Go Navy!!

23 on UNC wasn't even trying to hide it. Running around completely out of control

Then why say in the original post that she is "bulked up". Does that kid play with a certain reckless abandon, yes, out of control ,no. Two yellow cards, one for a dangerous follow thru the other questionable as the check she went for did not make any contact and did not swing her stick but was across the body of the other layer.

The only meathead is in your mouth. You really are ignorant. Yes UNC had 5 yellow cards , Navy had 3 . Navy ended with 1 more total fouls than UNC so to say UNC were playing like goons just shows how moronic you are.

I believe helmets and a progressive foul system will come to the sport together. I think the progressive foul system would be good for the game.

I disagree. The progressive foul system will be a way to further control the game in an effort to avoid helmets.

I haven't watched the others yet, but Stony Brook lost because they couldn't win a draw...

Stony brook lost because js got out coached! He tried to play the clock game with to much time left. As a result of not being aggressive enough on offense and taking poor shots with no time left on the shot clock. Maryland scored and never looked back winning all the draw controls at the end of the game. Stony brook had the game js blew it!

Not a SB guy, but id SB was shooting with 80 sec on the clock and lost, people would be saying he should have played the clock game. Monday morning quarterbacks. With that said, his def was pretty damn good all year, nobody would have thought they would give up 3 goals in 1:46. Just admit you hate the guy and move on.

There is a fine line between milking the clock and losing your edge on offense. I think taking shots with 80 seconds on the clock would have been pretty foolish. In my opinion, they lost the game because they just did not win the last few draw controls. If they had won even one of those last 4/5, then they could have pulled it out. JS tried three different players on the draw at the end of the game and all three came up empty.

I actually like Spallina but in the end who did they really beat this season, their greatest accomplishment was a close loss to Maryland .They really need to play as difficult a schedule out of conference as they can if they want respect.

I guess NW, USC, Colorado and Towson don't garner respect. Like the other poster said, just admit you hate JS and move on, because you sound stupid.
They took the #1 to a one goal game. Who would have thought SB would be in this position a few years ago? At the end of the day, MD had better talent, and won the draws. There was only the one time they ran the clock to 7 sec before taking a bad shot, and was originally awarded a new clock before MD sideline manhandled the refs and they reversed it. Can't beat MD and the refs.

SB Non-League Games: Towson, Bryant, Marist, Northwestern, Yale, Florida, Jacksonville, USC, Colorado, Johns Hopkins, Hofstra. (Only loss was to Florida.) A couple of these opponents should be dropped for teams like Penn State, Princeton, Syracuse, Cornell, if possible.

Not sure why we are still talking about this and not the weekend games but SB lost ton of draws and never had ball the final 5 plus minutes. Last possession they had they were up two goals. So rushing a shot up two goals and a lead under 10 minutes left would not be smart. As a Maryland supporter (daughter) I did not expect SB to be as good and dsiciplined as they were I can say this without hesitation they are by far the best team we have seen all season. Our draws won the game. So hats off to SB on a great year. Now about this weekend the matchup with Penn State Should be a doozy Penn State goalie is phenomenal and penn state athleticism is impressive. Hoping the major scare this past weekend gets our kids on track 15-12 Maryland

NW was 5oo this year(about where SB would have been playing the same schedule), Colorado really?, USC is the west coast Stony Brook as they play weak competition, Towson lost to Elon,High point, Hofstra,JMU second half of the season. Sorry just not very impressive and thanks for repeating what I posted their greatest accomplishment was losing to Maryland. Now you should just admit you have a little man crush on JS , its time to take his poster down and stop blaming the refs for losing to a team that is just better than SB.

you can thank spallina for helmets and a progressive foul system. he is gaming the game and is hurting the next generation of the sport in the process

not a very good legacy

So sad that nobody and I mean nobody cares about the sport and the tournament. If your kid isn't in it people just don't talk about it or watch it.

Used to be such a great team sport.

When are people going to learn that they need to change the culture of the sport?

1. No man crush on JS, a SB Alum
2. Reread your post and it is pretty unbiased, so I shouldn't have said you sound stupid. Fell into the BOTC trap of being on-line offended.
3. Should have taken loosing to MD by a goal as a complement, because it is

maybe we are on the right path-
no more recruiting of little kids is a great first step
That should keep parents a little more grounded for a few years
they should move to small 7v7 at the younger ages to force kids to touch the ball and keep them involved
They should cap the amount of goals an individual can score in PAL to force distribution
They should increase the amount of passes needed before you can score when little
US Lacrosse should grow a set and take the power back from the thieving club directors
they should move to a progressive fouls system to get goons out of the game
Some rules should be relaxed to keep the flow of the game

Something has to be done the sport is selfish and unwatchable

If you think that is going to change the game and make it more watchable you have no clue. Not one of those things you wrote will make this sport more TV friendly. Women's Lacrosse is a Title IX bonus baby. Who gives a rat's [lacrosse] if some 4th grader scores fifty goals in a PAL game? Keeping parents grounded is NOT going to make the sport more watchable. Club isn't going to make it more attractive to ESPNU. Try these to fix it:
1) Shot clock
2) No more stoppage of play with penalties, timed penalties like the men's game.
3) Make the field smaller, this will create a quicker more fluid game.

Come on, don't try to make your PAL issues the savior of the sport, it's not.

Right good idea.
So every little girl will only play attack because all the middies and especially the defenders will foul out or maybe the first team to 50 wins .
Make sure they all get trophies.
How about making offsides a foul and call every swing on the ride to start with.

Ok....so why don't you inform all of us who the national champs are in.....volleyball, crew, gymnastics, track, cross country, hockey ,rugby, soccer etc. I guess you care about all these sports. Oh yea....all these sports have large crowds and TV contracts???? Obviously not... Get over it. College sports are for the players and their families and interested kids/families that play the sport. And if you don't like it.......don't watch.

You want the woman to play the mens game, go visit your glory years in the bars with your old teammates and stop trying to force the mens game on the woman because you're pissed you didn't have a boy.At to your points.
1) I agree
2) stoppage of play is sometime necessary, What they should adapt from the mens game is everyone can move on the stoppage and play resumes with the refs whistle, the dropping your stick and 4 meters sucks, everyone cheats anyway.
3) smaller field would further muck up the game.

Womans lax needs progressive foul system just like Basket ball, Individual and team fouls
Individual fouls should be pushing, tripping, checking acrosse the body, cross check charging, blocking, and any stick to head contact, dangerous shot, illegal stick. after 5 you sit

team fouls should be off sides, 3 seconds, obstruction of shooting space, crease violation. after 5 free position shot.
obstruction should become a held flag if goal is scored it counts.

only the 3 middies can be between restraining line during draw until the ball crosses either restraining line due to natural play of the game, violation is off sides.

refs need to be held accountable for bad calls, they are a major part of the bad games.

As it stand now refs will not pull a red card because they don't want to be responsible for ejecting a player, if the NCAA moves to a progressive foul system this mentality will follow, the refs will not be so quick to blow the whistle for every little foul. The players will also be a little more restrained because they will not want to foul out. Coaching will have to become better because you will not be able to foul as a game plan (see J.S.). and will need to develop better strategy when players get into foul trouble (some bench players might see the field more) . 56 fouls in a game with no repercussions is bad for any sport

It's not about the size of the field or amount of players, it's overly subjective rules being called differently by refs not only game to game , but half to half. Obstruction needs to be redefined and clarified.

Used to be such a great team sport.

When are people going to learn that they need to change the culture of the sport?

To what? How would you change it? it's boring and slow, freeze tag! Culture change? No Change the whole sport or it will never be more than a Title IX sport.

maybe we are on the right path-
no more recruiting of little kids is a great first step
That should keep parents a little more grounded for a few years
they should move to small 7v7 at the younger ages to force kids to touch the ball and keep them involved
They should cap the amount of goals an individual can score in PAL to force distribution
They should increase the amount of passes needed before you can score when little
US Lacrosse should grow a set and take the power back from the thieving club directors
they should move to a progressive fouls system to get goons out of the game
Some rules should be relaxed to keep the flow of the game

I have a son and a daughter who both play you jackass. My point is was to the poster with his whining about PAL changes being a way to fix the sport. Frankly I don't care, I'll watch each kid and pat them on the back when it's over. You can kiss my [lacrosse] you [lacrosse]

I still think they are losing the next generation of kids. Sport has turned into the haves and the have nots. If you aren't playing travel by 2nd grade you are treated like you have the plague. That is driving kids and numbers down

the object is to keep more involved for a longer period of time and not tell a 3rd grader they will never touch the ball because they aren't playing YJ's all summer (so yes it starts at PAL). More people playing is a way to grow interest. More people scoring is a way to grow interest. Its not just about the recruited kids. I never played football or baseball or basketball but I watch. Why does woman's lacrosse turn off so many people unless your kid is playing? because its a selfish game. Kid's don't like hearing or playing in a system that says get the ball to Shannon and get out of the way. Just my 2 cents

Wake up......every sport is now like that. If your not swimming, playing basketball, soccer, crew, lacrosse, etc with an AAU/club team your falling behind kids that are doing it full time. Why do you think every sport now has trainers and full year teams/opportunities for kids. Do you really think changing some rules in PAL is gonna change the game/players etc. Virtually every sport now is year round. Fair????? maybe not but that's reality
