South Side didn't have a chance. They were the better team who played the better game, but the refs were determined to give Lynbrook the win. Idiot parents. Anyone who has ever been honest to themselves knows to teach their kids that they should never leave it to the officiating to decide games. Surely there were things they could have done to negate bad officiating. In a close game that can go either way refs are human. Best to not leave it up to them, as much as it hurts. Of course on the sidelines what's a charge for one team is a great drive to the goal for the other. What is an illegal check for one team, is a great play by the other. None of us know how the refs are going to call plays. It's all judgement, and well they get paid to ref, and no one pays them on the side to make tilt calls to one team or the other.

Which time? Last week when they beat you, or yesterday when they beat you?? No they were lucky to keep it close against Riverhead a very mediocre team . i dont know why people keep saying riverhead is mediocre? They just knocked out Huntington who was the only team that came close to beating wm I dont know why people say riverhead is mediocre either? Below average would be better, they havent beat a good team all year, lost by double digit goals 3 times... clearly a bitter parent. Riverhead had some quality wins vs West Islip, Huntington twice, bay Shore, and had a very close game vs Sachem North. The blowouts were to MC, WM, and Smithtown. A lot of teams had that happen to them by those teams. They are a very young team that starts mostly 9th graders and 10th graders. They aren't going to win any county or state championships, but they'll be competitive. Considering how young they and the program are that's all they can ask for. Congrats on being competitive, check your quality wins, think they are alittle bit of a stretch. One team had 10 loses.

9 goals for any one player against South Side in a playoff game is quite impressive.

[quote=Anonymous]Lynbrook with the upset of tournament so far Not sure if a 5 seed beating a 4 seed in overtime qualifies as an upset!!!! Anytime a lower seed beats a higher seed it is indeed an upset. True, but a 5 beating a 4 isn't upset of the tournament. Plus, they had a tight game during the year. Tight game or not, 5 beats 4=upset Not always. Didn't look at the specifics of this game, but #5 could have lost a few games at the beginning of the season and came on strong, while #4 started strong and limped to the end or had injuries, but still ended up with a better record. An upset is when the team expected to lose a game wins it instead. Obviously no point spreads in this case, but #5 could have been the favorite. Look at NCAA hoops - 9's are often favored over 8's, 10's over 7's, etc. I think there was even a 12 favored over a 5 this year - in that case it's not an upset. BUT in this case IT IS AN UPSET. OK, its an upset...who cares...move on

While we"re being honest, girls lax officials affect a game more than any other sport. Also, need to implement a flopping/diving penalty like hockey, refs have a hard enough time officiating as it is.

I am an impartial observer who was at the game last night. Parents from both sides should be ashamed of themselves. The girls played a hard fought game and will probably only remember the actions of some parents from both sides. Parents on the field, yelling at refs and players from both teams, fighting with each other, and interfering with coaching decisions. Congrats to both teams for the effort. # 7 and #44 are both great players who I hope, along with the other seniors can go onto great success at college without all the drama and nonsense created by adults.

CSH and Wantagh beat their opponents by a combined 25 goals and it could have been more. Why are games so lopsided? Are those two teams that good or is everyone else that bad?

Should be interesting. She is involved in over 70% of her teams goals (goals & assists) and has been on fire lately. Good luck to the remaining teams

CSH and Wantagh beat their opponents by a combined 25 goals and it could have been more. Why are games so lopsided? Are those two teams that good or is everyone else that bad? That is why they have a single power conference. They take the best 10 teams based upon past performance and expectations regardless of class and they play against each other during the year. Once the playoffs come they go back to their respective class (A, B, C or D) no matter what their record. They are guaranteed the playoffs. CSH had a losing record going into the playoffs but they easily beat Seaford who has a winning record. Out of the (4) C teams left in the playoffs all (3) power conference teams are still alive. Lynbrook is 14-2 on the year and will potentially move into the power conference next year because usually one or two drop out. I would expect Farmingdale to drop, they had a difficult year and they are actually the only power conference team not left in the playoff semi-finals (A conference)

Pathetic response , Huntington has not beaten any above average team in years , Bayshore was like 5-10 on the year , you got blown out by both Smithtown teams and it looks like you were non competitive with Mattituck . You kept it close against Sachem , WOW . You and your ballhogs did at least run it up against some bottom teams , so the most realistic description would be "best of the worst."

I guess leading the county in assists, hustling back on D, sacrificing your body for ground balls and being widely acknowledged as a smart, fun, humble leader by her teammates doesn't count for making your teammates better. And stats do matter when every team you face is trying to shut you down with their "best players" and double teams. There are other great players on Long Island as there always are. Who "the best" is doesn't matter, does it? Syracuse thinks she's pretty special. You should watch her play sometime. Oh and yes, she did lead her team to an upset over Southside in the playoffs and the RVC fans sounded like the people on this chain. Envy is a terrible thing. Take it easy Mom. I know at least 2 opponents that never faceguarded her let alone double lol. She's a good little player but no need to exaggerate, takes away from her talent.

Have no dog in the fight and have watched girls lax for 20 years. The kid had 8 free position goals out of 9, which is ridiculous! 3 free position shots in overtime one after the other charging in until she finally scored! The kid is very good but flops all the time. No need for it. Lynbrook got every call and half way thru the game the flopper then put on a helmet. PLEASE! Same refs made 2 mysterious calls. One when SS was up 1 with 2:45 and had the ball, the ref made a hand motion I have never seen in all the games I have watched, gave the ball to Lynbrook who scored. Then in OT on the draw SS get a mysterious circle call and he hands the ball to lynbrook cause he knew they wouldn't win it. SS coach should have called a stick check right away. Actually he probably should have checked all game. To many people screaming it so the kid grabbed and fixed. Not saying it was illegal but she sure looked nervous. Congrats on winning the game.

The amount of shooting space calls in girls lacrosse is ludicrous. Girls don't play the game. They learn how to draw the call for the 8m shot. And the flopping is equally insane. For as many legit talented girls there is an equal amount of actresses

My daughter had a player on her team and this is how she played, illegal stick carries within the sphere, at a minimum of 5-6 free position shots in every game, insanely out of proportion in any given game. Coaches tried to coach it out of her style, when she listens, gets no goals. 2/3 if not more of her total goals were free position shots solely based on her illegal stick carry style. NEVER called.

I guess it would be better than current system. Maybe a better solution would be to allow more out of conference games. Not sure why but just like in Nassau, the Smaller schools in suffolk are the better teams. Large schools cant compete with the top smaller schools in Suffolk. Allowing teams to customize their schedule would make for more competitive games for all.

High school lacrosse is simply not very competitive. Power leagues, out of conference games, stat leaders etc... who really cares? We read on this site about the ball hogs and the stat padders, we read about the evil club players and parents, we read about politics and rigged tryouts. When all is said and done none of it matters. If your daughter enjoys playing and gets along with her teammates you should be happy. There are very few good HS coaches, the competition is weak and it has no impact with respect to college recruiting. We read on this site about the 8th and 9th graders playing major roles on their varsity teams, we see girls who play for B and C level club teams excelling on their HS team and we see below average players receiving accolades. It is HS lacrosse and it will go by quickly. If your daughter is a high caliber player and has aspirations of competing at the next level good for her. If your daughter enjoys playing and is having a good experience in high school thats great as well.
For those of you obsessed with stats, recognition and accolades please realize that it will all be over very soon and nobody will care or remember that your daughter had a bunch of goals and was in the paper. Many of the HS heros become college zeros and they have a tough time dealing with it and they stop playing. If the girl is a stud on a top club team and excels when competing against the best competition chances are she will do just fine at the next level. If you are one of those people who wonder why your daughter does so well on her HS team but not so great vs tough competition you might be in for a surprise.
Enjoy the ride because it will go by quickly.

Signed the guy who has a kid with no accolades but believes she is a stud in the big games. Good for the kids who have gotten and are going to get the accolades many of which are well deserved . Many will be successful in college many will not ,depends on many factors , skill level being just a part of it.

Just someone who has been around and has seen and heard the same BS over and over. It will go by quickly so just enjoy the ride and don't get caught up in the BS.
