It seems to me that clubs have this "rule" that you play with your school age for a reason! It would also seem that if you make the exception for one then why not for all, regardless of who you are, who your parents are or how good you are! Doesn't look good for the club when you let one girl play the birthdate/ school year card whenever it benefits her most! If she plays with 2019 now then she should end with them as well. Won't be able to play with her team at recruiting and showcase events in a few years. Eventually you have to move back to grad year. Why can't she play at showcase/recruiting events?

So, how bout them uniforms? LOL Yeah, if you expect to play good you better look good. College coaaches are known to walk away from players at tournament because they don't like the uniforms. Maybe they should jack the tuition way up to cover the cost of a top rate uniform. Plenty of other clubs out there with really nice uniforms,if that is what is important to you, you should go seek them out.

These type situations are also created by the weak job US lacrosse does enforcing age groupings. So funny people complain of the age group a child is playing when it is the exact age group the kid should be playing based on skill and age. When they eventually move the child to their correct YOG I think opposing teams will have a more legit complaint. This discussion should be more about appropriate age groupings in general than individual kids.

They want to know the kids they are watching are all one graduation class.

Let's hope we don't look like the redhead ugly step child again this year and the organization uses the $$ to improve the uniforms. Will it make a girl play better? Who knows, but it can't hurt!

The best thing about the Top Guns it is a family organization that puts the girls first. It's NOT take the money and make as many teams needed like some of the other larger ones. 3 teams at 2018 ,you will have as many teams as girls who try out.How do those words taste now that all you have become is the poor mans wanna be yellow jackets.

Agreed but unfortunately it seems to be the same business model, as many teams as possible ,as much money as possible, politics as usual. Now with the questions about the amount of involvement Shanon will be able to have due to time constraints and NCAA regulations I think the club is heading in the wrong direction, I hope not.

YJ's are still the big name and when in doubt coaches will go with a YJ kid on club name alone. Easier to defend if it doesnt work out.
One could argue that more marginal players are given opportunities in college because the played for YJ then some of the other clubs.
Name definitly opens doors just look at the commitments.

All the NCAA coaches are quite aware of who she is, so that may be a small edge for those looking to continue play in college. Either way your kid still needs to play at a high level to get the nod, simply being from club X or Y doesn't mean much in the end. I would like to think all of the posted commitments were earned by the girls' play and not a factor of the laundry on their back.

Hofstra has put together a fine Spring schedule which will help establish even additional connections for the Summer Showcase being put together by the Lacrosse-By-3 organization. Expectations should be that the showcase will be a fine regional draw backed by some of the coaches playing against Hofstra this season.

Not true. There were many girls cut from tryouts, at all age groups. 2018 is the only group with 3 teams, due to approx 100 girls at tryouts. They don't take everyone, and have 4 teams at every age group. We're new to TG, and it's been great so far...small, family feel, with solid coaching, and excellent talent. YJ is a great program too...just different, and more of a corporate setup.

I wouldn't go as far to say kids were cut though, kids certainly did not make a spot on teams they were trying for and instead went elsewhere.

Purple 2017 is in desperate need of a goalie, despite that both teams looked decent, not much of a difference talent wise. My daughters team will face black next week and we stayed to watch- should be a good matchup. Happy Holidays everyone in the lax community.

Stop with the nonsense they are all corporations and make as many teams as they have kids trying out and accepting positions.Around 90 kids at 2018 tryout ,very good number but to pretend that they want to keep it as a small family is misleading.

2017 beats 2017 purple 19-8 without 2 offensive studs ! Does that make you feel good? First of all, the girl keeping score made a mistake, and the actual score was 18-9. Purple was missing a few studs also, and has a goalie that's still learning the position. None of that matters though. You're expected to win, so why don't you do so with class, and see how your team stacks up against other "A" teams, not your own program's "B" team...we'll be rooting for 2017 black, being part of Top Guns.

They don't have as many teams as there were kids trying out. Do you think everyone was offered a position on a team? Not true. There were about 68 kids at 2017 tryouts, and about 50 offered spots on two teams. 2108 had about 100 kids, and about 75 offered spots on 3 teams. Some kids did not get accepted. That was my only point. It really doesn't matter. Good luck to everyone, on their teams, with whatever program they may be with. It's nice that there are teams for everyone.

My daughter is on 2017 Black and I am embarrassed by the previous post from someone from our team. I have no idea why that parent would post the score. There was no need. My only hope was that it truly wasn't someone from our team and just a pot stirrer. We should all be supporting each other. My daughter said that the Purple team played very well. Please don't judge the rest of us. We will be there during our summer tournaments cheering your team on. We are all part of the same club.

I agree with original poster. I am also a parent of the 2017 black and I too am embarrassed about the comment made about beating the purple. It is definitely a pot stirrer. From where I was sitting the parents on black were complementing good plays on both teams. We are one organization and unfortunately there are some people (on both sides) who don't look at it that way. Congratulations to both teams as they both played well despite both teams missing good players. Please stop responding to silly posts that are put on here to cause trouble. Easy there , the only reason your kids are on black is because Papa begged the higher ups to give you 1 more year. The lack of sportsmanship displayed by black was disturbing. I am also concerned that the lack of playing time for some players will carry over to the summer. Time to mix the girls up and end the clique-it is not benefiting the team.
