Took effect immediately. Doesn't mean you can't announce a previously offered scholarship. Also under NCAA rules a player doesn't become a PSA until he or she starts 9th grade, although hopefully that isn't a real loophole turning this Summer into a 2021 sh**show This Summer is now about finishing 19's, and getting recruiting boards up in the offices for 20's. 21's can just have some fun this Summer, just with empty sidelines. Coaches will still be at every showcase watching '21's, making notes. If they see someone they want, they will then find loopholes. Don't kid yourself. This new ruling means nothing. If you build it, they will come. But just not until next year!

Why waste 3 years monitoring kids when it takes less than 1 to evaluate them.

No one is watching 2021s after the rule change - sorry I 100%agree with you. The only way any coach is going to see any 2021 games this summer is if there is a 2021 game on a field that is adjacent to a field where there are 2020/2019 teams playing. No way any coach is wasting time looking at any kid that they cannot talk to for over 2 years. Too much can change in those 2 years, this is why it will be so much better for the coaches

No one is watching 2021s after the rule change - sorry Unless you count on these guys........... For The Love of the Game Poachers FL$$$G message to their entire email list Come to our Camps Every game will have 6 college coaches rotating players, coaching, and refereeing. When college coaches working our event aren't coaching or refereeing, they are on the sidelines recruiting. With only 4 fields in play at a time and all fields right next to one another, you are guaranteed to get looks from dozens of college coaches. FL$ will hire 48 college coaches to work the event. With no more than 100 players per grade at the event, the college coach to player ratio is second to none. Yeah. OK

if you don't think the college coaches will be at every game your crazy...Now they don't have to commit to anything, they can track the kids progress and growth and have zero commitment. But the club coach will now be able to say to little jonnie, why do you think coach x is here? He's interested in you. Also the clubs that have the big tournaments ie: Crabs will always have plenty of coaches at all age groups because they know they are seeing good teams. Believe me they will be there.

Only turnover would be best kid for NL or VLC wanting to. I e to DCE or ML - so can play in a AA team. NL and VLC far behindZ. DCE beat VLC couple weeks ago at Bullis 17-2 without starting midfield line. VLC better than NL........

VLC beat NL by 1 this spring in HoCo league where NL had 3 subs due to injury/spring break NL isn't on the same level as DC Express Black or ML Capital, but they aren't behind VLC

Crabs over Bethesda Express in championship 12-6. The holdback 2021 team wins. Too bad they aren't playing in the grade year they should be in, 2020 for most of the team. And this team has a few knuckleheads on their roster.

Bethesda can complain about a lot of things but not about playing against holdbacks.

Next year is HS so all the holdback stuff gets put on HOLD for Varsity. Not much advantage in Varsity for age wise 10th grader over other higher grades. But holding back does help if you are going for JV first year then Varsity next. Being a JR ..I mean Sophomore does help when going out for Varsity in your second year of HS.
Its funny when you hear Booker announcing in MIAA talking about how the player is only a Soph's Jr;s etc...knowing full well that many players are actually a grade ahead age wise. One interview he was talking to player about it being his Birthday. Asked how old was player....19.. It was March or April...Good news at least he wasnt a double holdback. Dont think that question has been asked again.

This holdback thing will never change. As will the fact that MIAA lacrosse players have peaked in life and rarely contribute to society. Have you heard Rambo try to speak (sorry another topic). Other than providing demand for pot.

Funny that just to compete on a field they have to be a year older...doesnt say much about their overall future.

Everyone knows at this time that the MIAA is full of kids playing sports that are usually older than the public school kids in any HS grade and frankly older than any grade all the way to prefirst. The only grade that is the same in MIAA schools and Public is Kindergarten. LOL
In the past I dont think it was even on the radar of anyone , even the MIAA own people didnt care as many did it. It had nothing to do with anyone outside the MIAA schools.
Once Youth lacrosse started going grade base ( actually the Jerks at Howard County Recreation HOCO ) started it all with their grade base league. One of the original Directors of HOCO has a held back kid in MIAA. Wonder if that had anything to do with HOCO going grade base instead of age like every other league in Howard County. JERKS! HOCO gets the Hall of Shame for Lacrosse oin MD...
Anyway once the older MIAA kids were shoved down the throats of everyone outside of the MIAA. That was it. Now everyone knows about the edge that the MIAA has with older kids. Not only is it out there. It is getting worst as more parents are holding their child back at prefirst or reclass at 8th.
The hodlback thing isnt going away anytime soon. Get use to it!
