That post did not question if they would make the finals. It questioned if they would win it all. So the post was actually correct was it not?

Only he LI teams buy into this weak, overhyped tournament with the strange age cutoffs.

How are the age cutoffs "strange"? Please explain. What other age grouping do you propose?

Last year age cutoff was 5/1. This year it was 9/1 (announced after teams rosters finalized). Next year cutoff is supposedly 1/1. Seems strange to me.

Funny, MD, PA and Mass teams can never win anything on age. Same ole story.

Since the championship game is on July 4 , why not make the cutoff date 7/1 or 7/4 & leave it at that ?

only people with an agenda to keep lacrosse as is....completely corrupted... try to put a negative spin on an age appropriate tournament. What could your agenda be I wonder?

Problem is....there are no international teams, and the top teams don't even go, which makes it irrelevant.

Your so-called "top teams" are largely too old - that is why they don't go. Name a club that can field a team of age eligible players that would beat the top 6 or so teams from this tournament.

Top teams were there. The only top team missing was the Hawks.

Need to keep the 9/1 cutoff date for lacrosse...1/1 is for hockey

The way I see it is like this, seeing as Maryland/D.C. Is the center of cheating and corruption in every aspect of life, they only seem to avoid age based tournaments using cheap, half baked excuses to not attend. You badmouth any age based tournaments saying that they are B level and not very good, but the truth is if you were to attend you would have to do so entering on an even playing field, leaving you "re-classed", or "hold backs" behind. The truth is that with N.Y. school cut off vs. Maryland's, you naturally have an advantage, but that is still not enough for you to compete with us, you need to to come up with a further way to gain an advantage so you cheat in true Maryland/D.C fashion. If you look at the top H.S teams today they are dominated by your "re-classed" prep schools, and even with that, our schools are still very prominent. All of us up here on Long Island know you have no moral compass down there by our nations capital, so make all the excuses you need to sleep well at night.

Just listen to broadcast and what quint kessenich said. You want to be the best team you have to show up and play in the wsyl. He promoted age based and said how grade based encourages holdbacks and called out the Crabs for not showing up. He said show up and prove your the best. Like Long Island has the last 3 years.

The switch needs to be made all at once. Any tournament that is different from the majority of what other tourneys and teams are doing will naturally be poorly attended and relegated to B status.

The problem is the tournament is set up differently than most teams, and differently each year they have held the tournament. I'm not supporting grade or age based, but you cannot say a team didn't show up because they can't compete due to the age cutoff when the rule was changed after teams were structured. They just chose not to create a special team just for one tournament and leave behind 3 or 4 kids that would have been able to go all previous years of the WSYL. If your team met the new cutoff anyway or your organization decided to create a special team, great. But don't knock a team that was set before the rule changed and chose not to redo their team after tryouts. Age based is fine but if they are going to change the rule again, like they have every year, they need to do it now, not 2 months from now.

So, you are in favor of age-based divisions as opposed to grade based, you just want the age cutoff to be the same year to year?

Somehow, I don't think this is the case.

Yeah changing it again is an awful idea. US Lacrosse picked 9/1 stick with that. No matter what date you pick people will [lacrosse], but at least make it consistent.

Every top club on LI was there and the top club in West Chester. And props top the Diamondbacks for coming. They were the only team to beat the best U13 team in the WORLD - The Express!!!!!! And they had no young 2021s on their roster. All 2022s and all 13 or younger.

Especially if there is any truth to the movement to a 1/1 cutoff. Even the glory hunting teams that redo a large part of their lineups might balk at that.

Applause for teams that entered including those who went to qualifiers. Extensive travel and commitment it requires might not work for any given team, let's respect that. But good for local Long Island/Westchester teams to show up and bring it. I am sure teams like Laxachusetts and Crabs could field very talented clubs but they would've needed to send their "2023" teams this past week.

If that makes you feel better, you can think that. The truth is that the overall level of competition was weak because a ton of U13 top talent was stuck on 2022 teams that did not attend.

It wasn't the best competition because my son wasn't there!!!! HAHAHAHA. Stop crying and put in a team.... Everyone that is in this crazy youth Lax world knows the clubs that can't field a true age based team and it was made very clear when they didn't compete. It's Pathetic and shines even more light on the "Holdback" issues with competitive youth lacrosse.

lets face it, Maryland, Pennsylvania andThe Hill lead the way in prep schools that count on "re-class" and "hold backs" for success, thats why there parents are on here disparaging the tournament. They could send kids the right age, but they know that they can't compete with Long Island, and they can't afford to lose because it would hurt there "brand" so they bad mouth it and try to deflect.... typical D.C metro tactic. forget them and know they are second tier without there cheating

Bottomline is that the 2021 kids got screwed. In 2016 it was all 2020 teams. When they changed the cutoff date to 5/1 it became a 2022 event. Then they chenge the date again to make it appear that 2021s are included but rosters were already in. This moving target approach was designed for optics but screwed allot of talent. Politics and optics. Like how is Team Isreal an "international" team when they are all from Florida?

They have some kids that missed the cutoff, but 70 to 80 percent of those teams are legitimate U13 kids. They are some of the best players in the country that just picked a club that decided not to go.

Let's not kid ourselves. The reason those club don't go is because they have to leave a good chunck of their team at home because they are too old.

Yeah 20 to 30% of the kids could be left behind as the teams that went proved it is easy to do. Those are the same teams that use guest players and change the lineup every week. The teams that stayed east are real teams that don't ditch kids for one tournament or another.

Aren't you just saying that without proof? I have to agree, I think most of these team's rosters are U13.

Everyone knows that many teams couldnt attend due to older players. Is it even any doubt???? Crabs had to age up even with a early cutoff date of June and still got beat in final. But until then were competitive . Wont see many MD teams there as of grade base teams with older players.,

Name one team or two teams from Maryland that could do it and not APi/ Diamondbacks . We know they are age base . Maybe ROUGHRIDERS they only have 2 or 3 holdbacks. FCA , Hawks , Bethesda, Crabs, they have to many holdbacks would be as good .they would have to build a whole different team . Team91 md maybe but the kids they fly in couldn't play. Madlax maybe they could make a different team. . The Maryland Elite teams could not field a good team to be competitive but only 2 teams maybe....
