So what does this mean for his position at Syracuse?

Many kids don't love practicing 35 hours a week especially when many have gone from the best players on their club or school teams to players that barely get off the bench if ever in college. When they hit the turn going into JR year many choose internships and just to enjoy everything college has to offer the last two years without the rigors of a fulltime lax job. We can all fool ourselves but if you don't think some of these kids are playing just because mom and dad have always pushed it you are being naive and when they reach 20 years of age many are now mature enough to push back on mom and dad and tell them they are done. That's why only 50% play all four years. Why do you make nonsense up . 35 hours a week is so ridiculous . Add it up not even close especially in season .

Many college students stop doing activities that were part of their life while in high school when they get to college .Many of you paint the picture that D1 lacrosse is missery when in fact most kids who go on tho play at that level find it to be the opposite . As a parent I like the structure it provides and the academic help and the monetary situation is not bad either.

Parent of 3 D1 athletes here and, while not misery, it takes a LOT of time and commitment and plenty of kids decide it's not worth it. Not saying it's misery but I can tell you that it is a close to full-time job on top of school work. I, too, like the structure and support that comes with it but to imply it's a walk in the park is just dead wrong.

My daughter quit her D1 team because of team drama. Girls are vicious.

My daughter plays for a top 10 D1 girls lax team and honestly spends less than 20 hours per week doing lax related things i.e. Practice, lifting, running , film, games , at least in season .Yes travel , does take some time but they get some studying done during . 20 hours a week is no joke but it's not unmanageable .

Curious how you "know" she tore her ACL. Why make such a douchie comment about a kid who had a very ,very successful freshman season. If true about her ACL, which I am not so sure about, I hope nothing but the best for her, she is a nice kid.

OK we are getting deep into the season. Do you go with the only winners from the last 25 years in NC, Maryland, NW Virginia or Princeton or do you take the field. My gut say NC or Maryland win it again and anyone else is still a longshot and an upset

If any of the four listed above knock each other off then Syracuse, Southern Cal or Colorado might make it to the Final Four. Penn and Princeton outside shot as well. Seeding will play a role, some teams will have an easier track than others to the final four. The key is getting there, once there all bets are off. Who is prepared mentally and physically? Who has played the toughest schedule? Who has adapted to playing on the road? Who is best prepared to play two tough games in three days? etc...

OK we are getting deep into the season. Do you go with the only winners from the last 25 years in NC, Maryland, NW Virginia or Princeton or do you take the field. My gut say NC or Maryland win it again and anyone else is still a longshot and an upset PENN STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My gut say NC or Maryland win it again and anyone else is still a longshot and an upset MD is the clear and only favorite at this point - the only contest is for second place Maryland, North Carolina, Florida and Penn State in the Final Four unless two of them meet in an earlier round. I see what you did there, really went out on a limb picking 1, 2, 3 and 5. Hmmmm, what happens to 4? Someone is a hater or a troll.

Who have they beat , they lay an exceptionally weak schedule so maybe they feel they will not be well prepared.

I pick MD to win it all, and the other three of the final will be UNC, Penn State and FL. Like the other poster said, SB had a relatively weak schedule. Good team but not going to the final four. As for the rest, no chance of seeing the final four.

Watching the NW v Duke on BTN replay- yes an insomniac it stinks. The women's game is flat tough to watch. Almost every clear consists of one girl barreling down the field with her head down, trying to force it through double teams, while being crosschecked and bumped for 70 yards, three whistles later you have a clear. Even the announcer just called it "scrappy"..
When they do finally gain the zone it's all crowded in and a series of one on one matchups take place- more forcing through double teams. Everyone is playing the zone now so even if a player does dodge and beat their girl there's at least one defender waiting to stop the challenge or set up a free position. There's just not much motion or fluidity in this game. Rarely see a pretty assist and finish.
They need to adapt more features from the guys game. 50 yard restraining line, 6v6 in the zone, full pockets in the cross. Get passing and movement and athleticism back into the game. They have taken a few things recently- can kick the ball to get it out of a crowd, go in your own crease, but more is needed. Make it entertaining to watch. Fans might come watch.. on the men's side UNC v SU a few days ago had hundreds of fans, placed was packed. And the game was entertaining. There's no reason why the men's game should be that much better for fans. These women are great athletes, but their version of the game is holding them back big time.
It reminds me of the NBA in the 90's. Rough, physical super low scoring and tough to watch.

It reminds me of the NBA in the 90's. Rough, physical super low scoring and tough to watch. I disagree on a couple of your points. I don't think you know the woman's/girls game as well as the men. Giving the woman pockets in there sticks would change the game and lead to full gear and helmets, and any fan of the woman's game doesn't want that. The changes have to come in the rules committee in the way the refs call the game. Taking goals away from a team because the defense commits a foul is the worst rule in any sport and it happens all to often. Charges have been called more often that this year, and that is a good thing, but they need to call dangerous play ( cross checks, dangerous checks...) with more yellow cards, and fragrantly dangerous play with red cards ( 20+ years of watching woman's lacrosse and have never seen a red card, girls have no fear of it). What they do need to do is move to a progressive foul system. Just like in basketball, after 5 fouls you are thrown out of the game, that would stop a lot of fouls because they would need to stay in the game. As of now fouling a team in transition all the way down the field is a tactic acceptable to the NCAA and US Lacrosse so teams will continue to do so

Open it up get that ball being whipped around from player to player. take the full field run out of the game and BAN isolation plays at the youth level haha

Unlike say NHL hockey where guys know a cross check in the back means a trip to the box. No 7 for Duke on attack was riding a mid and as she ran out of room approaching the 30 she just shoved her girl in the back with a cross check. NU player went flying and they blew the whistle. But no card of courwe. This play wasn't supposed to be a point of emphasis when I went to the rules seminar that's mandatory for rec coaches. What a joke these refs are. Reminds me of the WWF with Danny dolan taking to a guy about a cheap shot while his manager hits the opponent over the head with a folding chair!!

In womens lax you would run out of defenders the way the game is called. If you watch a game, any doubt about a foul the call is made against the defenders. In Basketball players play both offense and defense. I get that fouling is a tactic that is used but the progressive foul idea is not a good one. Sorry
