Northwestern 9-7 over Canisius. Tied at half and no goals in last 11 plus minutes. A win is a win early in the season or a red flag?

No goals in the last 11 minutes with the new shot clock rule? That's as surprising and unexpected as the close score.

Was a close game. I think it says as much about Canisius as anything. Towards the end of last year, the Griffins lost to Syracuse 13-11 and Cornell 15-11. They are coached by the Canadian women's National Team coach. I'm not sure what the result says about Northwestern, but I think it says Canisius is likely to take another step forward into the top 25 at least. Also, it was 29 degrees and snowing by the second half. Northwestern won 17 of 18 draws and outshot the Griffs by quite a bit. Griff Goalie made 16 saves.

Draw controls were 17-1. Amazing the game was close.

I think you will see more of this because of the shot clock. Teams will be forced to rush and take some bad shots leading to opponents having more of a chance to gain possession of the ball without winning the draw. More shots does not always equal more goals

It's going to be a long season for NU.

Did Syracuse suck last year?

That game was played in a snow storm and they couldn't even finish it, the last 5-10 min were played another day

Too early really. Game played in trying conditions. I'll wait a bit before making an analysis.

There are 5 girls on NU roster from Long Island... and 0 on Can's roster from Long Island. You are the only 5 people that really care how the NU women's lacrosse team does. Let's see how long you 5 can keep this conversation going about NU.

What is your point about Long Island? Why would you assume the only people to contribute to this thread would only be from Long Island? BOTC sorta started with LI but has easily spread to the other areas where lacrosse is a focus.

Good one in Carolina too. UNC leading James Madison 9-8, just after halftime. JMU led most of thwe 1st.

UNC 15, JMU 14 - with 5:52 to go. Look out CAA, JMU looks to be for real.

Unfortunately no. They had a live stats link. UNC won 16-14. UNC had a 22-10 edge in DC's and a 41-29 shot advantage and still won by only two. It appears that JMU played very well.

SB 5- Towson 5 halftime

I'm pretty sure SB & Towson were tied 5-5 at the half.

They must be jealous. NU probably didn't answer his daughters email, lol.

16-14 UNC final. Best part of the game was UNC up 3-4 with under 10 min and the shot clock forced them to shoot and give JMU an opportunity to get back in it. Great rule for the game.

Stony Brook over Towson 10-9 with 6 seconds left in regulation.

Shot clock has an effect on the outcome of a game in week 1. Very exciting

Very good game not sure why people are surprised Towson has almost entire team return from their great team last year. Sb looked tight but I guess everyone is when it's 30 degrees Loyola
Also surprised UNC two goal game w unranked JMU These type of results are typical early in season

SB was out played! Towson had nothing dialed in for creating a scoring opportunity...they let it get away

duke v Drexel today should be a good watch. Anyone else think it's odd that the blue devils don't win a bit more and make consistent noise in the NCAA's?? That campus, the reputation, the basketball tradition, who would not want to go there??

Lets see if Northwestern can do better than the 15-3 thrashing at the hands of Notre Dame in last year's NCAAs. Of course they did beat ND 17-12 in regular season so maybe it will be closer than last time?

Does SB blame the Inside Lacrosse cover jinx?

Perhaps. I think Towson should also get some props here for playing a great game. Towson blew it down the end with not even getting a shot off or at least throwing it into the corner to pin stony brook down there. Instead they turned it over at the top of the circle allowing SB to come down easily and draw a foul for a free shot. Tough ending for Towson, perhaps a wake up call for SB. Looking forward to watching stony brook progress through the season.
