The DMV Premier League by Next Level / PSS starts this week. Who's in it? Last year all the top D.C. Area clubs were in it.
BLC, Club Blue, 3D, Next Level. Tough League At 2022, only BLC is any good. Yea. Hawks are terrible. Lol What are you stupid? Of the teams in that crappy league, only BLC is good at 2022. Read much AA Co water rat? Hawks are in that league genius.

There are just not many kids out there repeating grades for advantage at grade based club lax. The issue at this age is the fact that most private school kids do prefirst, and the average age spread between the two is about a year. The majority don't care, as the sport and club participation grows every year.
Not sure where you live?? There are many kids being held back in prefirst. Every MIAA school has a class of prefirst that has a lower school. Even some MIAA B schools have a prefrist grade. And of course there are children that are not ready for various reasons in public's that are heldback from starting. Do these people think about Lacrosse while holding there child back. Maybe a few. Still doesnt change the fact that there are many of these heldback kids. And to say it isnt an advantage is a complete lie. The biggest complaints come from the best teams. All have multiple holdbacks. Most heldback kids arent playing B. Without these holdbacks they would be completely different teams. May still be good but different. There are too many holdbacks in youth lacrosse in Maryland. Youth sports was never intended to let select older kids playdown.
And the majority do care. And if you think there will not be more and more kids heldback for Lacrosse, you are fooling yourself. Majority of coaches I know who have children in MIAA schools have held their child back regardless of birth month. They know the drill.
If you find yourself consistently having this argument, start focusing on the new activities that are just over the horizon.

I think were the holdback argument falls apart is when you complain the older kids have a advantage you look like someone who plans on their kid playing college lacrosse. Youth lacrosse "should be for FUN" is what most of us hear and say. So if the older kids have a advantage it should not bother you it they are playing for fun anyway. So if you think your kid is going to play college ball they will have to beat out these same kids to play college lacrosse. So if you are one of the serious parents, you can not complain because these are your sons pool of kids he needs to beat out for the 71 X 12 spots for D1 college lacrosse. If you are the playing for fun parent you should not care about a advantage for one team over another "its just for FUN" This is my 2 cents what do you think.

You live in a bubble if you think MIAA kids are not re-classing at the 8th grade level in order to improve their chances in the lacrosse. Crabs and FCA are full of holdbacks.

Or you could start a snowflake league. Membership would be through the roof.
No the snowflake league is what you have now. A bunch of holdbacks that cant compete with kids their own age. Maybe these snowflakes should hit the wall, toughen up, etc Then they might be able to compete with children their own age. The holdbacks need to playdown not play at age! That is a snowflake.
The initial comment referenced 2020 kids (HS kids now), and there is no reason for a high school kid to play out of grade, in a grade-based league, where they are being evaluated by grade. If you are talking about youth levels, again there are age-based leagues (rec), and grade-based leagues (club). It is unreasonable for adults to criticize kids playing within the league criteria. Some chose to play up in both types of leagues, but that is a family decision. Criticize the league if you think you will get somewhere, but you won't, so probably just shut up.
HS leagues are and always have been grade based. Not one person has ever complained about that . I guess you must want some 2020 straw man to attack to make your point?? 2020 until this year wasnt HS.
Youth Lacrosse leagues have always been age based until last few years. Youth Leagues should be age based. Pretty simple concept except to apologists for a system that lets select kids play down. Maryland with its MIAA prefists/holdbacks have started a trend in youth lacrosse. The trend of getting my kid an advantage by being older than the majority of players in his Youth will continue and get bigger and bigger. Maybe you think that is a good trend for Youth lacrosse. The majority of people dont. Just because a family decides to hold their child back doesnt give them some special right to an advantage others exact same age dont get when they are 8 years old thru 14 years old in Youth athletics?? With the new grade based leagues allowing it.. Maybe you think as long as the rules say it is ok, why not? The majority of people dont think it is right for youth sports . Youth sports has never been about giving select children an advantage.
So if my kid did pre-first and is in 3rd grade, I should sign him up for 4th grade team? Why again? Everyone in his grade plays in the 3rd grade bracket, because, I suppose, they are in the 3rd grade. Under your scenario, when he gets to the 8th grade, should he play 8th grade for a second time, play in the HS bracket in 8th grade, or do the 9th grade bracket twice eventually, and for the first time play with his actual classmates? As an aside, if he ever gets good at the sport, which year would you have the opposition's parents most appropriately start complaining about his nefarious dealings as a 6 year old, when he manipulated his school's administrators into letting him do prefirst?

You live in a bubble if you think MIAA kids are not re-classing at the 8th grade level in order to improve their chances in the lacrosse. Crabs and FCA are full of holdbacks. If we are talking 8th grade into HS, 90% of what you are calling holdback on those teams means prefirst, which is all but the curriculum for privates now. Some that didn't do prefirst eventually repeat in middle school, where most of their classmates already did in elementary. Private school kids on average a year older than public. The top teams are mostly private school kids, and it is not some underhanded plot, just is a product of the curriculum differences.

It's winter box, no one cares, it's just for fun and to keep a stick in the kids hand. I would guess none of these teams hold practice between games. The real season starts in the spring, that is when wins and scores matter. Most teams in this league have it voluntary if you want to play on any given Sunday, not mandatory to show and play. Good example could be Crabs with a short bench and no goalie. Also heard RR were missing some players as well. Don't get too excited with box, spring league will be here soon.

No in years pass and in most YOUTH sports you should sign him up for his age group he is assigned. But not in Maryland where youth lacrosse has been taken over by MIAA prefirst mentality. Or do you think that you should get a special pass for your child and all other child held back. Do you think only your child should go to head of the age group?? Do you think that all the others children born exact same day as your child should have to play in their assigned age group while your child gets to skip to the front. And your straw-man poor child has to play 8th grade twice is garbage. When you play for your school team MS or HS, you play in your grade. HS club teams have always been grade based, and youth club teams up to 14 has always been age... Pretty simple concept, except to parents who want their child and only their child to get an advantage in YOUTH sports other parents do not get. You want to have your prefirst child be the oldest in youth sports. Why not let anyone that wants to play down do it?? why just your child?? When did youth sports be about carving out special groups to give them an advantage?? And your other straw-man about school manipulations etc of a 6 year old are garbage to. No one cares why or what the reason you decide to hold your child back and do prefirst or any grade. Every parent should do what is best for their child. But holding your child back doesnt give you a special right in YOUTH sports.

Not sure where you are located, but I believe, or at least the preceding argument seems to imply that there is a predominant amount of private school kids in the system, so I would ask, what do you expect almost every private school parent to do - sign up for the grade ahead, assuming someone will complain years down the road? If it is age based, sure, you simply sign up for the age group where your kid qualifies. You seem to be very predisposed to attack parents/kids, but seriously, why would a 2nd/3rd/4th grade parent signing a kid up for a grade based league assume, when it says "grade", that they should automatically add +1, and leave it to the parent to try to calculate or reconcile how this may or may not affect every other kid signing up. Something just isn't adding up in your argument, seems personal.

So you have two choices. Lobby the league to change the rules to age based or play your kid in an age based league. Nobody is getting special rights in the league because that is how the league is set up. Why is it the parents' fault that you don't like the league rules? You say they can play their kid up a grade where they would've been if not for doing a prefirst 7 years ago. But you can register your kid for a team that plays in a league where you like the rules. But you want the league to conform to your preference. Who is looking for special treatment again?

Everyone knew a few years ago that if the NPYLL went to graduation year it would benefit certain programs. Those running thier respective programs wanted this because they knew it would create a competitive advantage. Unless those powers that wanted the advantage decide to change it, it is here to stay. Time to move on. Run a organized and complete practice and get your team ready to compete.

But holding your child back doesnt give you a special right in YOUTH sports. You continue to miss the point. You register the kid according to the league rules. Your issue should be with the league. Who is looking for special treatment again? take this tired old argument to your own forum . Create one ! Your bitterness towards a flawed system is annoying to say the least. Your special pass argument is a sad one when describing young men. As if they are cheaters or somehow in control over their lives. Take your stupid [lacrosse] to another forum.

Everyone calm down. The cream always rises to the top come spring time, until then enjoy your indoor victories. That is funny.. We all hope the Crabs 2022 rises to the top or at least to the middle of the pack. Everyone would love to see it . It would be great to see and make this region even stronger than it is for 2022. People who keep calling RR a B level team clearly have not watched them play or get better every game they play. Yes indoor means nothing in the Spring but you can bet that every indoor league and game counts to those teams participating in it.

The DMV Premier League by Next Level / PSS starts this week. Who's in it? Last year all the top D.C. Area clubs were in it.
BLC, Club Blue, 3D, Next Level. Tough League At 2022, only BLC is any good. Yea. Hawks are terrible. Lol How did the games go in this league? Diamondbacks play 3D and Next Level this week in the DMV Premier League. Bethesda plays Club Blue
