Legit question here, anybody go to the Brine Regional tryouts before? Is it worth it to go? Why is it so late in the year, it could be bitter cold. Thanks for any insight.

It's in December because the games are in July, they have the teams assembled and ready to go this summer. Is it worth it? That's up to you to decide, is any event that could get any type of exposure be negative?

We need to have NY/MD challenge tournament just like big10/acc challenge. See what state is better from top to bottom.
Hawks vs Express Md91 vs igloo API vs superteam Crabs vs FCA vs Koopers vs Rough Riders vs Looneys vs Cannons vs
Can't do it Ny only has 3 teams that can compete with the tops clubs from Maryland

Not a recruiting event, it's an expensive waste of time during a very important recruiting summer. Used to be a fun event leading up to recruiting when the first boys started committing after 9th grade. Just one more experience ruined by early recruiting. Brine also got greedy, holding two expensive tryouts, then having kids show up who skip the first tryout. Money better spent on recruiting showcases.

It was expensive and fun but the coaches weren't looking at the middle school boys. They focused on the high school teams. If you are looking for a recruiting event this is not it. If your son just wants to have fun and represent long island with boys he normally plays against it's worth it. It was also oppressively hot last year. 100 degrees and no shade. Keep that in mind.

So true. Super Team I think is 2022. The Maryland kid was a 2021 last year and now he is a 2022 and next year he will be a 2023. New [lacrosse] teams do well against the Maryland teams. Maryland better stop looking up the ladder at long Island teams and first try to climb over Pennsylvania teams who are much better than Maryland now. NXT final four only had Long Island and Pennsylvania teams. Pennsylvania teams give Long Island teams a better game than Maryland teams for 2021. We need to have NY/MD challenge tournament just like big10/acc challenge. See what state is better from top to bottom.

Guys, go easy on the fella. Don't assume the son being heldback had anything to do with mental acuity, it might have been to gain an advantage on the lacrosse field. I wouldn't want anyone to jump to conclusions.

The Icon team has a solid def, very good att, the need they had to upgrade was at mid as they lost their top mid from last year. I understand they added size and they do have top coaching. I saw at the Elite 80 two very good att and I thought they had the top def there. They will always be well coached and have very good lacrosse smarts, if they did add some size, they will be very good again.

Please keep in mind if your kid isn't physically ready , you might want to wait a year before putting him in front of coaches. My kid going in to 9th grade was 5'4 140#. Has a junior he was 6ft 190. Going D1. But once coaches close book on you they hardly reopen it.

Ok NY may have way too many clubs. The teams are watered down. However, what's patently clear is NY's overwhelming dominance in terms of putting kids into NCAA lacrosse. Not even close... 2014-15 Total number of NCAA recruits: NY 649 MD 284 D1 Recruits: NY 244 MD 146 2015-16 Total number of NCAA recruits: NY 643 MD 305 D1 Recruits: NY 214 MD 118 2016-17 Total number of NCAA recruits: NY 651 MD 242 D1 Recruits: NY 242 MD 93 As you can see, the number of kids going on to play NCAA lacrosse from MD is shrinking, and the number of D1 recruits from MD is off the cliff. I think NY is doing just fine.

I understand the top showcases for 2021's are Maverick Showtime, Adrenaline Black Card, Jake Reed and Prep School Showcase and then Philly Freshman Showcase in the Fall.
I get that some top schools - Hopkins and UNC, for example - mostly filled their 2020 classes even before the Philly Freshman Showcase.
But is there any point to worrying about the whole showcase circuit until a player hits their growth spurt? Apart from size, post-puberty athleticism just seems different to me.
PS - NY has almost 4x the number of HS players as MD. Easy to find NFHS participation rates. Interesting how many players there are in non-hotbeds like CA, FL, GA, NC, VA, CO and OH.

More than half from Long Island. Maryland population is two thirds more than Nassau and Suffolk combined yet Long Island produces more college players than Maryland. Most Long Island kids playing college are the proper age and the Maryland kids playing in college have many holdbacks. Long Island is showing a trend going up and Maryland is going down numbers wise. Those are facts. Maryland should stiop stop looking up to try and compete with Long Island and pay more attention to Pennsylvania who is also better than them. Having seen all the top Maryland teams and Pennsylvania teams don't be surprised if the Pennsylvania kids get more college spots compared to Maryland in the near future. We need to have NY/MD challenge tournament just like big10/acc challenge. See what state is better from top to bottom.
