They have a graduation year of 2018 now and will most likely add a 2019 next season. Go to their web site and inquire about their camps they start next week and will always take walk-on campers. www.litopguns.com

Last night on News 12's 10:00pm report, there was a nice story about the Top Guns Lacrosse Camp Fundraiser for the reconstruction of the South Bay Elementary School in the West Babylon School District.

Shannon Smith, one of the camp directors, in the interview cited her experiences at the school as a youngster and those of her father a generation before as key reasons why she decided to hold this fundraiser camp.

A solid turnout of 80+ young ladies at this three day morning camp who are getting some solid skills training (despite the heat) and helping to raise funds for a worthy cause.

BOTC raises a glass to thank Shannon and those involved in this fundraiser for Long Island in general and West Babylon specifically.

Apparently a top gun player was caught trying to steal from a vendor and the police were called. The directors at National Draw sent out a memo to this effect that there is a zero tolerance for this kind of action. This memo went to all of the participants. It will be interesting to see if their club is asked back next year. By the way, There is no way anyone from Top Guns is going to admit this.
I heard this from parents that were there at the time.

You can call the Tournament Directors at National Draw but I doubt that they would be able to discuss what happened.

You can't blame a club for a child's actions off the field. Place the blame where it belongs, on that individual and that individual alone.

BOTC agrees that there is no blame to be assigned to the club for the poor choices of a player. That said, the club's response to the situation is important. Responses could include:
  • Mandatory curfews for all players,
  • Mandatory team dinners and meetings in the evenings,
  • Additional chaperones or parent attendance requirements,
  • Circulation of a zero tolerance policy for any additional summer season off-field issues,
  • Development of a revised travel policy with effect for the Summer 2012 season,
  • Required apologies, letters, and community service if required.
Now, BOTC is not judge and jury on this topic. In fact, this is for the player, family, police, and other agencies to handle. Our point is that this is a teachable moment for the entire club, particularly one in the early years, to decide what they represent going forward.

Unless its a Yellow Jacket kid of course then the whole club would have been crucified!!

Enough of this my daughter/team/club/parents are holy~er than thou. Unless you can speak for every kid and every parent of every team for the entire history of the club, then you should avoid this slippery slope of casting judgement. There is a reason these tournaments issue the shoplifting statements prior to the tournaments, it has been a big problem in the past, long before topguns even came into being. This anonymous name calling and mud slinging is ugly and embarassing, why don't you all dwell on the positives of the sport. Remember, we are all a part of the same community!

FOR THE KIDS...lets remember that line. Lets just all get along. Win gracefully and lose gracefully. It can and must be done if we have any hope of teaching our girls the right way to behave. C'mon...let this be a new start!!!

Great sentiment on a fresh start. Hope you all listened to the U.S. World Cup women's soccer captain upon their loss to Japan. Classy comments about their opponent and how they will gear up for the Olympics next. Lets unite Long Island against Maryland and Jersey etc.

One kid caught stealing should not keep the rest of the club from beeing invited back. Obviously the kid should be punished but remember itis still just a kid. The person that stated that the top gun team beat yj gold so badly is a sad little person who hides behind a computer screen making up stories.

I guess that shows who the top club is now...wasn't even a close game. Looks like bringing in the ringers didn't pay off either!!! Let's see how many are wearing yellow next season bc the reality of this entire crap is. The kids love who they at with at the end of the day they can't even remember the scores of their games...it's the crazy parents who are on hear arguing!!! I'm guessing it will never end but that yellow will probally be adding another team at the 14 level bc it proves who the dominate program on the island is. Run by SEASONED adults...not a college grad I don't care how good a player you are doesn't make you a great coach. Remember she once wore yellow until she realized the money she could make.

I would say your wrong!! Have you seen the YJ 14 green team. They beat there gold team 9-2 in a scrimmage without their top players even being there. Sign up for LI Elite and and ask to play them...I bet the outcome will not be what's expected!!! I've watch them play!!
