The crying in here from the igloo parents is hysterical. Like a early post you can't change age which is why an age based tournament is more transparent. To sit here and continue to say 8th graders bet up 7th graders, don't your kids play JV? So your 7th grader played 10th graders and you pounded your chest. SMH at the craziness on here. You lost get over it and it wasn't a pretty loss either.

That would be a scary day for many out of state teams if LI started reclassing kids. I do not think anyone needs to worry, we all saw what happened to a certain team full of holdbacks, clearly it is not a recipe for success. True talent and hard work will always prevail.

As for this tournament, no holdbacks in the whole entire tournament- as solid comprehension will lead you to understand, that you cannot be a holdback (left back in grade for athletic purposes or a late starting kindergartener) in an age based event as grade is irrelevant. Period. Age events in youth lacrosse should be the golden rule. Why is it athletes in other sports do not need their friends in their grade with them, but lax player mommies and daddies say that their kids should be able to play with their friends and therefore need to play with their grade????

igloo, why the crying? This tourney had an age cutoff that all teams entering had to comply with.
AA elected to run his standard team with some additions from his other 2021 team instead of searching for some older boys who could meet the cutoff birth date.
So why hate? T Z played within the rules and in typical igloo fashion, all you parents whine and cry, lol.

I am sure you will come back on here and have 20 posts following how you are the best 2021 and yes, you are. However, you were not the best at the World Series within the rules.

Good game and just leave it at that.

I look forward to the loud big guy to chime in. Cant miss him.

Just so you know there is no way this crying as you are saying is someone from Igloo. The parents for both groups stayed at the same hotel, and were supportive of each other the entire time. Both teams took quality players and both teams made it to the final. This in itself was not a easy task. There were some serious teams in this event. With 8 very long games over three days this tourney was intensive. But the fact is most teams who put together teams specifically for this event did better then teams that did not. This is because of the age differences. Now you can look at one or two kids from every team that participated and say that kid is a little older, but the fact is that legacy had more kids that just met the cutoff then any other program. That is a fact. It's not crying, it's completely within the rules. But it is still a fact. Next year I think you will find ever club doing this, and then you will see a much bigger average of player on all teams. That will truly even the playing field. As it should be.

Hey not so bright person. No such thing as a holdback in AGE based tournament silly man. Sorry you are used to your holdback dominating younger kids under a different grad year. Boohoo

This tournament has shown how far Maryland is from not only Long Island but other states as well. Top Maryland teams did not join simply because they were too old. Same could be said about the Boston area teams. The ones that did join had disapointing results. When there is an equal playing field all the Long Island teams came out on top. Great showing by all three teams.

What you didn't see on TV. When Mad Dog West walked by Igloo during the opening ceremony - the coaches and the entire team turned around and gave them high 5s as they walked by - and every team after that. The Igloo Parents in the stands stood up and cheered for Mad Dog west as they walked by.

Igloo and Mad Dog had 2 very competitive games against each other.

Before the game started - The igloo players spotted Team Isreal in the stands and acknowledged them. Team Israel boys went nuts cheering for igloo.

Trust me - it was about the experience. Not the gold or silver medal.

Igloo should be proud.

It is sportsmanship at its worst. Not blaming teams (okay maybe I am) but for shame for the tourney for doing it this way. Didn't they changed the rules late in the game. Set the rules now or within 4 weeks of last championship match and let everyone know what they are trying out for.

growing up there were true all star teams, LI time to see beyond the cash and make some of these teams just that. Parents you hold the cards.

Team Israel was from Florida, Maryland and Connecticut. All US kids. Not a single person from Israel. This only further demonstrates what a joke this circus is becoming. Can we take a pole as to what sham national team is created for next year?

Heard they had 8 kids from Israel on the team. They are trying to grow the sport of lacrosse in Israel. You should also see what team Israel does outside of lacrosse that is also great. It's hope that one day lacrosse becomes their national sport in Israel.

As per their roster, all players seemed to have American hometowns except for two, which simply had none listed. Highly unlikely 8 of them were from Isreal. Instead it was a team of jewish american kids.

I'm guessing this clueless parent is from Maryland who is somehow able to turn a blind eye to the Crabs 2020 team. It almost embarrassing to watch 3 or 4 of their players compete against age appropriate 2020. (One middie 44 and one defensemen 25 in particular.) But I guess as long as their parents are proud of them playing down then that's all that matters. ....carports? really?

This is one of those comments made out of total ignorance. Generally speaking, holding back for athletic reasons can only happen at private schools and not public, and the last time I checked there were maybe 2 or 3 prep schools playing lax on all of LI. I could name 4 just in a 10 mile radius outside of Baltimore. And actually holdbacks are more prevalent in Ct. and Westchester County than LI. So as much as I hate to say it Long Island teams probably have the fewest amount of repeat kids than most lacrosse regions.
When going to age based tournaments there are always going to be teams like Legacy bringing as many kids as possible who are close to the age cut-off. It is what it is. Baseball's Little League World Series (12U) ,( which I think WSYL is trying to emulate, but I wish somehow it could also be town based) is also prone to certain teams always playing the age cut-off game.

Yes you'll enter a grade based tournament with your 6 2002 kids and act like you dont have holdbacks. Then run around that you are the best. Keep bashing TAZ. They entered an AGE based tournament with AGE eligible kids. You enter GRADE based tournaments with holdbacks. Bet you regret the DOB being posted because now we all know the truth

Middie is old and committed to UNC. #25 is an August birthday and played in the WSYL last year. Great kid and most here in MD don't consider August birthdays "holdbacks" Also, not a crabs parent. BTW, the biggest joke is the big attackman. Will be 16 soon if not already.

What's wrong if a country allows dual citizenship and a player is able to represent, as opposed just a club team based in the US? If it's the 'world series' then countries can go and to be part of it can be a great experience.

Are you telling me if your son/daughter develops to be a great player later on, has dual citizenship with another country, BUT cannot represent the US in world play or maybe Olympics, you would shun the opportunity to participate? Dual citizenship is already going on at the older world level, but we don't hear you complaining about that scenario.

I think a country entering this year a good step forward and I give the team credit for attending as the only represented country, knowing full well the level of competition.

The only downside at this age level is finding the players for the less skilled countries. But it's gotta start somewhere and that's great.

Unfortunately, for whichever club owner who decides to create a mega-uber team called "TEAM USA: a division of 88+3, NLF Affiliate and Conglomerate, Expressly coached by the Biggest Four Leading Edge and Crabby D-I Alumni with the intent to create a Leggicy for Dunkin Donuts"....that owner will either be guaranteed to make a fortune from the parents and dominate the tournament for years, or make the event spontaneously combust.

What a farce! Just silly, and adds to the circus reputation the event is getting to be known as. Nothing at all like the Little League WS, that is a legitimate, respected youth tournament.
