It levels the field and anyone club can put together a team that fits the age restrictions.

Pretty pathetic to want your 4th grader heldback playing against 3rd graders....

The looks of stats it clearly shows team play all across the roster . all of Zummos team offensively had noted stats . Including his defensive players. Looking at other teams you clearly see those high statistics only amongst 3-4 players . Legecy has depth unlike other teams who claim they do. Stats do not lie ! A well coached team will take this tournament at this point.

And Blaze stats 4 top scorers and a drop off. and 2 out of the 4 were crushers . Uneven stats ! looks like that team relys on 4 players , that's gonna hurt when they advance .players who you would have thought have more goals are lucky they had an single goal and more so assist out of those 5 games.I am sure there's alot of disappointed mom's and dads who know their kid could do better then that but just can't ..good luck tomorrow.

Age is age regardless what people are bitching about , CLASS OF 2020 or 2021 if you make the cut off , there is no case on complaining . Just like the blaze crew will complain that the Legecy fogo is in 8th grade and there fogo is in 7th. AGE IS AGE period . Stop the bitching. By the way no skin on either team but that fogo has to be one of the fastest clamps out there. Can't wait to see results from tomorrows Game The looks of stats it clearly shows team play all across the roster . all of Zummos team offensively had noted stats . Including his defensive players. Why pick an age cuttoff that splits right down the middle of 2 grades. It is stupid. There is not a club team out there that is trying to blend 7th and 8th graders. Nor does USA lacrosse encourage an age cutoff that promotes mixing 7th and 8h graders. It is awkward and inconvenient for everyone. And made a mess of the teams for this years event. It will forever remain a mystery why the event chose to do something so random and outside the norm. And will always be a problem trying to mix and match 7th and 8th graders. It is just not practical for anybody and will wear on kids and club programs. How about September 1 and keep it to a single grade and make everyone's life easier. Mixing and matching 7th and 8th graders is and always will be a nightmare.

This is the WORLD series and they are trying to promote teams from all over- not just the hot beds and not just from the states. This is just the beginning - but it will grow despite the fact that some hotbed teams are not in it this year because the experience for the kids is incredible and they are treated amazingly well. The NE might be the hot bed of lax, but let's not be so egocentric to think that the whole tournament should be focused around our school cut offs for grade. Hockey is a sport that is smack in the middle of the school year and yet the kids live to tell about their experiences and get this- enjoy it- despite the fact that half of their team is on a different grade! The horror of it all!

why does every club make it mandatory that your kid has a US Lacrosse ID number? Because of the insurance it provides your kid. So with that comes power. What US Lacrosse needs to do is add a stipulation that their insurance is only covering players who participates in US Lacrosse rules based tournaments. So now if your kid gets hurt in some NLF tournament their is no insurance and maybe now the parent whose kid gets injured can sue the tournament for injuries occurred by a player 2 years older!! Do you want to see how fast everyone conforms then!! Insurance is too expensive.

you can see the birthdays of the players if you click on their name in the scoring leaders page. A lot of 2002s. All legal for this tourney but pretty interesting

Silly that people had to travel to Colorado to play each other, could stay here and do that! 8th graders are looking good playing 7th graders. You can say it's age based, but the 8th graders have a clear and significant advantage. First of all they are the oldest, second, they are experienced in playing with their own grade. These kids do not stand out in the same way playing grade based, and I doubt there will be much bragging next week playing on grade competition. You 8th graders are getting a taste of what it's like being a holdback, that is essentially what you are in this tournament. I would love to see true 7th graders make some noise!

It is just not practical for anybody and will wear on kids and club programs. How about September 1 and keep it to a single grade and make everyone's life easier. Mixing and matching 7th and 8th graders is and always will be a nightmare. I think they moved the cutoff age for a few reasons, but I believe the biggest is the amount of states with different dates for school grades. NY is 12/1 so yes many 8th graders qualify. Many states are 9/1 or even 6/1 so in those states, like Pa, many of their 7th grade players would be in 8th in Ny. So while in NY the clubs have issues because they are blended teams, a lot of clubs in other states are of their age. The World Series website has all the rosters and ages listed and stats for each player. Most of the kids in the tourney are 2002 birth year and should all be 8th grade in Ny. Forget the discussion that then occurs with hold backs. I'm sure there are a few teams that decided not to go to the WS because their kids were even older than the 5/1 date. If you get past the split grade issue for us in NY, this is truly an age bed tourney that you have to prove your age and location to,play on a team. We all complain about older kids on teams, now there is a check and balance system in this tourney to prevent the 15 year old 7th grader from playing.
