I think all these accusations will come to a head soon enough and the free ride will end for all of these travel programs . There are TOB park commissioners very aware of what has gone on and soon enough the Town board will have these issues in front of them. While everyone is trying to "stick it" to this program or that program, stop and think for a minute. If these town fields are no longer available at their current prices, who do you think is going to be picking up the tab? True but it would be fair and equitable for TOB residents to know that for profit groups are paying their fair share for the use of these fields. I am not saying TOWN PAL teams should pay because they are residents of that park district and it is run by volunteers. Regardless of anyone's opinion these fields are built with and maintained with taxpayer money.

All of this nonsense about who pays for what fields is going to lead to one thing, Illeagal Alliens playing soccer on the nice turf fields that our kids once practiced on.

Xenophobia is defined as an intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries[1] or as an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange.[2] It comes from the Greek words ξένος (xenos), meaning "stranger," "foreigner," and φόβος (phobos), meaning "fear."[3]

I was NOT offended by soccer, the offense was the assumption that any person with darker skin then the average lacrosse player and is playing soccer must be an illegal alien - had they just said "be careful because the turf would be used by kids playing soccer on the nice fields that our kids once practiced on" then the point would be well taken - but heaven forbid us white lacrosse parents make trouble about who has permits because then our precious turf fields with be over run by illegals who sneak into this country for our turf.

I am curious what town they are speaking of.
I know my town has an issue of having a hard time getting permits (recently we were utilization could only be granted if the team was 100% town residents), but for some reason there is always a pickup game of soccer going on utilizing the cages (until the school took them in).
But my town is very eclectic (ok diverse) and anyone posting that it is illigal aliens is just ignorant. They live in the town they just dont need a permit because they dont care.

Whoever is on this thread spewing venom is real gutter trash. As far as fields being used I have no problem paying a little extra if it's the politically correct thing to do. I also don't believe all people should have the privilege to use fields whenever they like.

Could it be that your fear of being considered ignorant causes you to immediately defend those who offend? How are you privvy to the info regarding their residency status? Also, maybe they SHOULD "care" about obtaining proper permits. We DO care about our town fields and DO NOT fear discarding the naiive "PC" mindset. It gets people hurt in so many ways.

Does anyone have a rough idea of how many kids typically tryout for Express each year, 8th and 9th grade?

Last year they had roughly 200 trying out for the 9th grade (2015). But the 2015 class is generally considered to be much deeper than 2016. Enough talent in 2015 to have at least 4 or 5 excellent teams on the Island (Express, fl$, Jesters, Ballers). It seems like the 2016 class only has one good team on the Island.

That would be the one - and they're not anywhere close to the best of the talent of the grade above them (Orange 2015).

How many teams does Express usually field for each age group or do they decide based on how many go to tryouts and the talent pool each year?

That was a bad 2015 Blue team so nothing to write home about. Wasn't talking about that anyway. The 2015 Orange would crush the 2016 Orange 20-0. The 2015 group is light years ahead of where the 2016 group is.

Of course it was a bad team would not expect any other comment but that. 2015 Orange probably would beat 2016 Orange. Just a little foolish on your part to make a blanket statement about 2016 in general, but what do I know

That 2015 blue team had absolutely nobody good on it and yet Orange 2016 only squeaked by them and yet they are the only 2016 team that could beat 2015 blue. The grade is weak except for one team. That's why they only play teams off-island.

Your opinion, though not correct. 2016 Orange did play on the island and did win on the island. Also, played off the island. Lost 2 games in Md and won the rest in Md, Ct. Thanks for your input

The Express's world would end if the game was close or dare I say, they lose. Don't bother responding, all we have to do is go back in the thread to see the Express approved standard rebuttals. I'd be more interested in hearing about the the kids who got held back last year who will be playing as 2016 grads this year instead of 2015's

These comments are ridiculous and if you take the time to read them back you would realize this is stupidity. Maybe everyone should try playing nicely in the sandbox instead of throwing sand in each others eyes.

You have no idea what you're talking about. 2015 blue had MANY good players on it and an awesome coach. Does it make you feel good about yourself to trash kids??

How many Blue players got Blue Chip and Maverick showtime invites from 2015s or 2016s . The answer - 0 . If your not on orange, you are wasting your money. Look elsewhere

Excellent point. If you are not on the Orange team, then why bother with the express in the 2016 and 2015 age groups. They will do nothing for you.

Then what are the best alternatives for express blue kids who are very good players but for whatever reason can't crack the Orange? Where else can they possibly get invites to maverick show time and blue chip? fl$ 2015 is pretty locked up and any new kids at this point won't get invites over others that have been there for several years. Any other clubs with a track record of sending kids to those camps?

Good club programs just support the invite.
