Is it worth sending my daughter to the awards dinner for Nassau County this week? She won an award and was debating going. Everyone is just so short on time I was wondering if it was worth attending. Please try to limit the nasty/snide/sarcastic comments if that is at all possible. Thanks We went last year. It was a nice night with our daughter. I would say go if you can. Of course you should go. Your daughter worked hard to get the award. She deserves to be honored for one night.

Maybe one day every player will be taught to play with integrity and to use their skill to win. LOL It is amazing that you actually may truly believe your own BS. Please keep them coming. It is very entertaining and we need some good reading material on our ride up to Cortland!

Why don't you make up T shirts that say "The team that most people from Long Island thought was the best team in 2016". Would that make you feel better? I will tell you what, If you make them up, I will pay for them! #kindofperfect!

DO GIRLS WHO PLAY FOR THE REALLY SMALL DIVISIONS CLASS 4 OR SMALLER HAVE ANY REASILTIC SHOT AT COLLEGE RECRUITING? very few get recruited from high school lacrosse. ( it is certainly the exception then the rule) in case you are being serious and are new to this, all girls (I'm sure someone knows someone who knows someone who didn't but) but all girls playing college lax played travel and were recruited that way all the small schools quality players (say BBP, MS, Matt SWR, and CSH) play travel with and against each other

I hope LI can come together and root for each other this weekend. As for this weekend...does anyone know any of the upstate teams firsthand? The best I could do is to see how they were ranked. In class A, WI is playing Pittsford and they won their playoff game 19-3 but they were ranked 13th in class A and WI was ranked 10th. Awaiting that winner most likely is #1 ranked Christian Bros Academy.
In class B, it looks like #1 ranked GC has a very good shot to win it all as they are playing 20th ranked Victor in the first round but Victor did win their first state game 23-9.
In C #3 Mount Sinai plays 19th ranked Honeoye, 12-7 winners of their first state game. Awaiting them could be #2 Bronxville. For the record, BBP was ranked #1 and CSH was ranked #4...yet more reason for the state to stop have Suffolk and Nassau play in the quarters!

Sinai stalling and it was an UNWATCHABLE game. I can only imagine that the BBP game was no different, so I'm sure that it was frustrating to watch MS play keep away, especially after a questionable YC took BBP best player out of the game. Stalling rule needs to be changed to something more along the college mens rule, not sure the 90 second shot clock is the answer, but high school needs to address the issue as well.

Wantagh hasnt won a county they are the Nassau edition of that BBP team that was the best on Long Island that isnt going to Cortland. Pretty simple win or just shut up and watch. Coulda shoulda woulda no it was the refs No Wantagh beat WI and Mount Sinai a lot of good that did them you gotta win when it counts on the big stage to be mentioned with the big dogs hold it we have the best player on Long Island we have ten D1 recruits how come we cant even win a county championship wait its gotta be the coach then we need a new one we just cant get to route 17! Stop making excuses winning it all is a lot more difficult than any of you could possibly imagine. Thats why you gotta respect GC and SWR check to see how many State championships they have won. These teams have players that believe in themselves, believe in their teamamtes and believe in their coaches thats why they win PERIOD!

Rumor is that Wantagh is moving to Class "C" next year. Any truth to that?
Their enrollment would have to be 475-789 for class C Someone said Wantagh is 770 so yes they will be in C. There will now be 4 classes next year A, B, C, D You idiot, Wantagh is moving to C and West Islip and Smithtown west are moving to Nassau....

Go kiss your coach on the lips. Without him, your girls wouldn't have won half the games they did. The lacrosse world knows 90% of your team's talent graduated last year or before. You do too. You know he keeps them in the game. Sorry about your hollow victories. Good luck in Cortland.

Even funnier go watch the msg video , relatively early in the game when the kid with the leg brace for CSH has a free position shot. Watch the Sinai player crash to the ground and grab her head like she was hit with a baseball bat, now watch in slo motion , nothing hits her head, typical Sinai.Good for the refs as they did not fall for it this time.

You know he keeps them in the game. Sorry about your hollow victories. Good luck in Cortland. Dear BBP Parent, I am starting to get worried about you. Here are the stages of grief. I believe you are somewhere between anger/bargaining and depression! Hang in there it starts getting better at stage 5! SHOCK & DENIAL- You will probably react to learning of the loss with numbed disbelief. You may deny the reality of the loss at some level, in order to avoid the pain. Shock provides emotional protection from being overwhelmed all at once. This may last for weeks. PAIN & GUILT- As the shock wears off, it is replaced with the suffering of unbelievable pain. Although excruciating and almost unbearable, it is important that you experience the pain fully, and not hide it, avoid it or escape from it with alcohol or drugs. You may have guilty feelings or remorse over things you did or didn't do with your loved one. Life feels chaotic and scary during this phase. ANGER & BARGAINING- Frustration gives way to anger, and you may lash out and lay unwarranted blame for the death on someone else. Please try to control this, as permanent damage to your relationships may result. This is a time for the release of bottled up emotion. You may rail against fate, questioning "Why me?" You may also try to bargain in vain with the powers that be for a way out of your despair ("I will never drink again if you just bring him back") "DEPRESSION", REFLECTION, LONELINESS- Just when your friends may think you should be getting on with your life, a long period of sad reflection will likely overtake you. This is a normal stage of grief, so do not be "talked out of it" by well-meaning outsiders. Encouragement from others is not helpful to you during this stage of grieving. During this time, you finally realize the true magnitude of your loss, and it depresses you. You may isolate yourself on purpose, reflect on things you did with your lost one, and focus on memories of the past. You may sense feelings of emptiness or despair. More 7 stages of grief... THE UPWARD TURN- As you start to adjust to life without your dear one, your life becomes a little calmer and more organized. Your physical symptoms lessen, and your "depression" begins to lift slightly. RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH- As you become more functional, your mind starts working again, and you will find yourself seeking realistic solutions to problems posed by life without your loved one. You will start to work on practical and financial problems and reconstructing yourself and your life without him or her. ACCEPTANCE & HOPE- During this, the last of the seven stages in this grief model, you learn to accept and deal with the reality of your situation. Acceptance does not necessarily mean instant happiness. Given the pain and turmoil you have experienced, you can never return to the carefree, untroubled YOU that existed before this tragedy. But you will find a way forward. You will start to look forward and actually plan things for the future. Eventually, you will be able to think about your lost loved one without pain; sadness, yes, but the wrenching pain will be gone. You will once again anticipate some good times to come, and yes, even find joy again in the experience of living.

MS is a better team overall. They're not relying on one girl. They have better players. They have a better coach. That's why you lost.

FYI - You can tighten your strings as much as you want until the ref tells a particular player that their stick is being checked! Know the rules! Can you be anymore desperate? Do you really think they won because their strings are loose? Do you think they may actually have just been a great team?

Big winner are all the C teams who got away from GC, Wantagh and Manhassett. Now they at least have a chance Per the 2016/2017 enrollment numbers from the website, Wantagh and South Side both under 789 enrollment number thus making them C schools. If Wantagh drops to C then its 47/47 that winner is CSH or Wantagh and the last 6% is probably up for grabs with North Shore and Plainedge and a wildcard Garden City and Manhasset have an easy path to finals now like it used to be before Wantagh stepped up. South Side would be my sleeper in that bracket because they are returning a lot. Not sure what the others schools are returning.

CSH supporter. We lost because Sinai had a strong game plan that they executed. Not the most exciting game, but they get to play another. When we did force the ball to the ground their girls picked it up more often then not to maintain possession. That is what happened. As for our decorated girls not being great players--hogwash, they are and got recognized for it. That being said, yes, at the top of the pyramid there are ten girls that could be interchangeable for that same recognition and that takes nothing away from their accomplishments. Good luck in the next round.

This does open up an area of discussion. Certain teams are known to be floppers etc. Some would call it gamesmanship , others would call it cheating. Personally I hate it and think if your district and players parents are knowingly backing a coach who "teaches" these things than you all need your heads examined. One of the main reasons your kids should be playing high school sports are the life lessons that sports can teach. Each time you condone your kids team employing these tactics I think you chip away at your childs integrity. I have never been a win at all costs person so who knows.

This goes out to the northport team. You know the girls who went to party city or wherever to buy those big blue stoned rings. And after you beat WI, all out them on and plastered social media with the hashtag #we out to states. Who's laughing nowwwwwwww

Every team does some amount of head-grabbing or flopping. I know it's already a difficult sport to ref, but the refs need to recognize the repeat offenders in a game and call it accordingly. I don't agree with girls being told by coaches to "cheat" and I do agree that it does chip away at the girls' integrity. The teams that won this past weekend were the better teams on that day. Maybe they would all win again in a rematch, maybe not. Congrats to all the girls who work so hard. Good luck to the winners. For the teams that lost, you must have been pretty good to make it as far as you did, be proud and come back even stronger next year.
