Every club has at least one parent coach, Top Gun, 91 and Express

I think it would be great if a player was able to try out for a few different teams and make a decision. However, it seems impossible the way tryouts are scheduled. You are forced to commit to a team and pay before other clubs have even held their tryouts. How about YJ holding their tryouts earlier so if you're not happy with the color team you end up on, you can explore some other opportunities. I realize this is not going to happen (would result in less players for them) but anyone have any good suggestions?

Because those teams are not perceived as "elite" and you are better off (from a lacrosse/financial perspective) having your child join a town team that competes in local tournaments.

Well, if you ante up the tryout fees I think you could manage to vette a number of clubs before committing. You might have to play games and not pay up as soon as they want their first payment but I know people who have done it with no negative ramifications. I also know people who have left clubs after beginning payments and I *think* they got refunds, not sure though, and not sure if they were full refunds or partial.

The thing is even if you know the team you'll be on within the club you probably still won't know your coaches until the spring. That's such a big part of the team, it's a shame that's how it seems to be. I'd like to know who the coaches are before committing, that could be a deal maker or a deal breaker.

Anyway, that's been my experience in club lax, your mileage may vary.

No problems - get through your bracket and beat them in the finals. If you lose your bracket and your bracket's winner still loses to a Yellow Jackets team, what does that tell you? This is not always about bracket placement - just go out and win your games.

As for hand-picked opponents, there are some brackets which are stronger than others (as happens in all sports) and some brackets have received a one-round playoff bye simply due to the number of teams in each playoff bracket.

Just as a side note, which age group/bracket did you think was hand-picked? Seems that with three and four teams per age group and the tournament organizers intentionally avoiding putting the Long Island teams where possible in the same bracket, the competition was fairly balance. Where did you think that the competition was soft at the National Draw?

YJ16 blue in with 4 16/17 teams
YJ15 green in with not 1 team there age and plays teams of 2017/2018, 2 and 3 years younger (what a joke)
YJ15 gold in with

put your teams in the middlers division , this way you can win everything

I have to admit that honestly, as a YJ parent, I wish that some of the teams could be playing up in this tournament. Many tournaments won't allow it but this one I think would've given that they have broad divisions instead of strict graduation year grouping. As long as they're not getting obliterated, kids, in some ways, learn the most in losing against tough opponents.

In the end the best teams end up in the finals. Looks like YJblue beat top gun black along the way.

Congratulations to the 2017 Yellow Jackets Blue team CHAMPIONS yesterday at the National Draw tourney. They beat the best 2017 team in the final game. Top Gun 2017 didn't even make it to the final game!

Really the best team that they have is the 9th grade black team. That is it. Lets see how they fare against M & D today. The younger divisions 8th through 6th grade showed nothing at National Draw

Carol Rainson-Rose has been named as the coach for the 2011 North Girls All America Team as part of Under Armour All-America lacrosse.

Coach Rose has been the head coach at Northport High School since 1990. Recently won the 2011 New [lacrosse] State Championship. In those 21 years she has won the Suffolk County Championship ten times (1996-1999, 2002-2004, 2006, 2008-2009), the Long Island Championship/Regional Champs six times (1996-1999, 2003-2004), and led her team to the New [lacrosse] State Championship game twice (1996, 1998). Coach Ross was named the Suffolk Coach of the Year in 2003, 2006, and 2009, and also named Newsday All-Long Island Coach of the Year in 2003-2004. During her career, over 50 Northport HS players have been named All-Americans, and over 70 athletes have gone onto Division I programs. Carol is currently the CEO of Long Island Elite Lacrosse Club, and teaches Physical Education at Northport Middle School.

I hope she fields players from organizations other than YJ. Cuz that's now how she rolled when she coached the Empire Games.

What other Long Island Teams would she get girls from? Top Gun? Not likely?
Express, dying, dying, dead. 91? See Express. The Hills are no longer. Only small town teams are left.

Of course she will fill roster with yj's. They are very good players. Un fortunately many deserving players from other organizations will get edged out, that's the sad politics of it.

If you plan on trying out for this organization here is what I advise. If your daughter makes the blue or gold team, pay and let her play. If you make any team lower than that run as fast as you can somewhere else.

This is an ignorant statement!
My daughter had a wonderful experience playing
On the green team and found a very nice college.
She is proud of her team and her new friends. Making a
Statement like that is irresponsible. Class 2011 go YJ
