[quote=Anonymous]if you really saw the WI v Chammy games in the past 10 years, only about 2 games (some can argue 3) you could have figured who won. the other games you couldn't figure out the winner till the end. Last year, going in I thought it would be a blodd bath Chammy walks away with it, during the game I thought WI had them. only one thing can be said - WI vs Chammy is a bad example - Those are some great games.
They ARE great games. However, when Chaminade wins those games, the public school parents says "well Chaminade should win. they actively recruit and have 1700 lacrosse players at its disposal." When Chaminade loses those competitive games, the public school parents go nuts and say "Chaminade s*cks, they can't even beat little ol West Islip." What did Chaminade say last year when they played WM? Chaminade said the same exact thing that WM said when they played in 2014.

Going back two years is living in the past but going back to last year isn't?

WM -- a team that included a senior attackman who was arguably one of the top five players in the country -- beat Chaminade by two goals. You got me. Chaminade s*cks because they lost to a little town team (with one of the finest lacrosse traditions in the U.S.). You are right. Chaminade s*cks.

You Play express if your boarder line to make team in 9th and JV- Kid never see's field then gets cut on varsity because summer checks are done. If your kid play elsewhere but is good, he will play. Look at SA and Cham 9th Grade roster the Bottom 15-20 kids all Play express.

I don't know Mike C of express personally but thought I would share a funny story and probably validate why so many on this board have shared distasteful comments. A parent I know whose son plays on Express is going to a tournament in Maryland at the Landon school this weekend. Each player is being charged a $120 tournament registration fee even though on the tournament website it states that the cost to register a full team is just $450. So, after the first 4 players, it simply profit for what shouldn't be a revenue producing event. Don't know how many kids on the team but assume 20+ which would mean a $2000 profit into Mike C's pocket for doing nothing except registering his team. Can anyone confirm this because if true, just disgusting. Assume that is the behavior the moderator was referring to. Hard to for Mike C to defend himself or the program if accurate though.

Not involved with this team nor express... but when you have these events the coaches sleep over and that expense gets paid by the team. Like everything you look at in life, if you just concentrate on the shallows of the situation the water doesn't look that deep. But those who realize there is more to each situation realize nothing is really that shallow and protect themselves from being in over their head.

Confirmed, except it's $125 per kid to play. Crazy thing is he could have just charged each team playing $50 more to make the $2000 profit but he decided to screw his own players instead.

I have never understood this argument. Club lacrosse is a business like any other. Does it involve students? Sure. But so does SAT training and cello lessons. If you don't like it, don't pay for it. But to criticize Mike C for being a good businessman doesn't make much sense.

My son is long gone from the club scene but back about 5 years ago with the Express, all tournaments were included in the annual fee including tournaments that were not part of the summer circuit. Why don't they go back to that? They'd have the same money in their pockets but their customers wouldn't feel the knife in their back twisting more than for one big check at the annual meeting. Not a good business model to remind your customers more than once how painful it is to be part of his program.

I'm getting so sick of reading these posts from people who aren't on the team and don't have the facts, but feel they should post. I've posted and only 1/2 my posts actually get posted! I have no idea why that is. Our Express team has a total of 9 tournaments this year and this was the only one with an additional fee. Never have I been on a club lacrosse team and had this many tournaments plus a ton of fall practices and a ton of extra spring practices thrown in for free because the coaches want to get us ready. So I really don't think the extra $125 for this one tournament is a big deal. Enough with he bashing when you have no clue what you are talking about. As far as the hotel - if you don't like it stay at another one. Doesn't take rocket science.

How about club teams STOP playing tournaments period and just play each other every weekend, or nights during the week. They could play on level turf fields in Long Island against exceptional talent. No travel to NJ or Pennsylvania to play on fields sloped like a ski jump with hotels and all the other nonsense. Will never understand this aspect of club lacrosse. There are plenty of teams here, and each club could play each other multiple times, creates something called a rivalry. Just my two cents!

I never thought I would defend this guy but you have to pay coaches, their travel expenses, hotels and meals. That all costs money. And he is also in business to make money. That's how this works. You don't get mad at the plumber who charges you 200 dollars for the pipe that cost 8 at Home Depot. You are paying for a service. If you could do it without anyone else , you would. I could write a book on other negative things to say about him, but this isn't one of them.

Why is it always about MC? there are 3 other partners who share in the profit and they are head coaches of HS Varsity teams, why o hate for them? $ 0.25 profit of every dollar goes in each of their pockets

For most of the people disparaging MC or any other profiteers, your animosity is displaced. Blame yourselves and every other parent chasing the dream. Because unless they hacked into your bank accounts, you willingly padded their retirement accounts.
