The WSYL North regional lists Team 91 2021 Orange/Blaze. Is this a combo team? They were Orange and added the Blaze name. They're really called the "Blazing Oranges".

Actually nobody wants age based when it means mixing 8th grade kids with young seventh grade kids. Wait until someone gets hurt this year and they will be right with US Lacrosse next year...September 1 and 7th grade. It is the only scenario that actually makes sense. But some will seek to use the rules to sneak a big win. Oh well.

But some will seek to use the rules to sneak a big win. Oh well. If your kid plays lax on a club team, he's been playing kids with a range in age of 18 months or more already. This is supposed to be the World Series, not just the US and eventually that is the goal. This has nothing to do with one specific team or club. The landscape is even- all teams can bring kids within the same aged group. The rules were out there for a while now and teams/clubs have approached them how they wished. Some created new teams, some merged teams, some are bringing their original rostered team. Stop the complaining- if you don't like it, don't do it! No one is forcing anyone to be a part of this tournament. That said, I thought bringing the team you play with year round was the best way to do it. It just seems more valuable in playing teams you see at tournaments and ones with a track record, rather than a team that plays in just a minimum of two tournaments. However- rules change and the clubs can choose to play with these new rules or not. Maybe next year will be different, maybe not. Kids outside the US don't have the same grade equivalence as those in the US, so my bet will be that the grade based rule is gone and they will stick with a 15-18 mo age spread. I do hope to see teams from outside the US join the tournament next year. That would be exciting for all the kids!

Proposal: WSYL should post rosters of players with ages on their website. This will allow total transparency as to each team so everyone does not have to lie and accuse and make up facts about which teams are now bringing older kids and which teams are playing with their 7th graders. Their is a growing focus and count starting to occur around which teams are bringing 8th graders and how many. So far the Long Island teams range from 12 8th graders to 0. Interesting what other regions and clubs are doing. But if they posted rosters with ages it would end all the speculation and distraction and have full transparency.

Did they call off tomorrow's games in the North Regional? 91 already posted that they qualified for Denver.

If I read it correctly, WSYL is taking the Top 4 teams in the bracket. So even if tomorrow is cancelled by weather the Top Team in Red and Blue are Igloo in Blue and Legacy in Red, the next two are 91 and Eclipse.

Igloo brought one kid in, Icon none, Igloo look great, congrats, Legacy best team there with older kids but followed rules Icon played real good with only 2021 kids. They were the only team to play Legacy tough. Lost in their last game to older Eclipse team in a great game 6-5. Congrats to all teams who go.

I'm glad they took the top 6 and congrats to all the teams who played yesterday, but the way the playoffs were detailed, it wasn't possible for anyone to crack the top 4 in the playoffs? Am I correct on that? Would have seemed better if they ran a full playoff day after day 1 seeding a lower team would get a second crack by beating the top seeded teams.

Don't know why this is a debate. I am not an Igloo fan and may not agree with everything they do but I had no doubt that they would win despite having to play against older kids. I have no doubt they will will in Denver. If Igloo did not have injuries and this was a pure 2021 tournament with a September 1 cutoff they would have won all games by at least 15 goals. They are that good. Having said that had the age requirements not changed the top four teams would have been igloo, 91, Express and icon. Congrats to all the teams that are going to Denver. Too bad this is not a pure 2021 tournament to see who really is the best. But like it or not if igloo wins this there will be no doubt they are the best especially when all players are born after sept 1. Good luck to all the teams in Denver. Just fyi Igloo brought 2021 team plus 4 kids from other 2021 team to make 24 one top players was hurt ....so stop with all that non sense.

If only it was a true 2021 team so it would be fair, with three kids who are 15 because they where held back twice but graduate in 2021 instead of 2019.

The point is the only way to insure even competition is is to go by age. I find it amazing that people cry about a 91 or Legacy that they combine teams for the WS that are age appropriate but have no issue with the other teams who have kids who SHOULD be graduating a year prior to when they are.

How did they decide to break up the brackets with one bracket having two good teams ( Igloo and 91) and the other bracket having four good teams ( Legacy, Icon Eclipse and Express), seemed uneven. Didn't 91 beat Prime Time 16-2?

Tough to go by scores this early in spring 91 beat primetime16-2 and igloo beat prime time 8-3. It's early spring so much will change between now and July so score comparisons are skewed

I'm not sure why there is so much hype about the way WSYL is making the rules either. Fact is, this is supposed to eventually include not only teams from all different states, but international teams. Kids in other countries don't start school or use the same grade equivalence as we do in the US. The only way to make this fair is to go by an age cut off, not grade. For all the people complaining about grade play- you got your wish. The current club teams may have been built by grade, but this tournament is not so teams put together age based teams. The only way this would have been unfair is if teams qualified with their current roster, but then modified by adding older kids or kids from different teams or clubs.
Now, here's my question... Did you have to be at this tournament to attend in Denver? I know you must compete in 2 tourneys to be considered rostered, but is it mandatory to be at the qualifier? Depending on the answer, this could definitely be a game changer in Denver.

Score comparisons never work in any sport at any level. There are so many factors that can alter a score in a game. Each game has a ref that in one game may call it close and then another ref may Not make calls and let the kids play . That can alter how the game is played and the score. Also an Offense may hold ball longer limiting touches in one game but not the other. Further one team could have a match up that is very favorable that can alter the score against one team but may not have that match up against another team. Even an injury can take time off the clock limiting offense possessions. There are so many other things that can happen to alter a score from one game to the next. Never go by scores from other games to figure out how a team matches up. It means nothing as we see 91 beat prime time by a lot more than igloo did but that does not mean 91 will beat igloo as we saw yesterday. Tough to go by scores this early in spring 91 beat primetime16-2 and igloo beat prime time 8-3. It's early spring so much will change between now and July so score comparisons are skewed

So much can and will change from now til July Most teams haven't even practiced outdoors. Everyone should relax the bragging and chest pounding over winning four games in a day wo a championship is very "I've never been there before ". No way Igloo beats Legacy. Watched the game vs Blaze Legacy will win EVERY faceoff and that in itself will be different. Penalties and face offs were the major difference in yesterday's game
