So who decides what bracket teams play in? Does HoCo give a sanity check to what teams throw themselves out there for? I don't think teams playing too far up or down is good for anyone. Agreed. There has to be some type of sanity check over what division the teams sign up for - it should be done in the interest of all the teams in that division and bracket and not just what a Club wants. Nobody wants to get beat 15-0 and nobody wants to win 15-0. If you want to play teams of lesser caliber (or challenge yourself in a bracket you are not ready for) then set up a play day with those parties so other teams are not affected.

If there really are 4 divisions I think it will be obvious to most teams where they belong. I just hope an objective party or body can police it to get some sanity to it.

US Lacrosse has nothing to do with this. Individual leagues must create and enforce their own policies. bologna! US LAX is the governing body for lacrosse in the U.S.! If they truly cared they would figure out a way to enforce the issue. Correct!! USL is a wimp of an organization. They should have come out hard on these youth grade based teams a few years ago. They still can but it will be harder. No leadership there..Just fluff and give me your money

It is recommended that calendar years be used this season (2016) and required in 2017. (Previously, US Soceer used Aug1-July31 birthdates.) Since soccer is bigger at the college level than lacrosse, how will the coaches ever adapt for recruiting (sarcasm intended).

US Lacrosse cannot force leagues or tournaments to go under their sanction. If a league wants to make their own rules, then that's exactly what they do. US Lacrosse is great for Rec leagues as there is plenty of insurance benefit and the age based divisions apply. If you're US Lacrosse how would you try to apply the policies to non-governed entities?

US Lacrosse needs to figure out how to do this. They get money from most club players and it's time they put it to work, rather than sitting on their thumbs. They are a spineless organization, and cower to club teams and leagues. How can most other sports have the age / birthday covered but US Lax doesn't? They bury their heads in the sand and hope the issue goes away on its own.

So try again and make each one a even number. There are 45 teams in 2020. Each division should have at least 10 teams. Coaches should put their teams in where they will have competitive games. Not where they can will all their games. MDX, VLC, Looneys Green, FCA white shouldn't be in 3rd division. Some of the second division should play AA. Didn't 91 tout both of their teams as AA. MAdlax, Next Level, CB aren't AA? Weren't they in NYPLL? Thought NYPLL was the stronger league. So why would those teams move down in hoco?

US Lacrosse is great for Rec leagues as there is plenty of insurance benefit and the age based divisions apply. If you're US Lacrosse how would you try to apply the policies to non-governed entities? US Lacrosse can make the age-requirement rules. Certify the tournaments that follow the age-rule ( and thus provide the insurance ). If the tourney is not sanctioned by US Lacrosse, than the tourney will have to provide their own insurance for the tourney for injury (by jacking up the price a little bit per team). Tourneys can decide what they want to do. As for rec (MYLA), my younger (2025) son does not belong to US Lacrosse, so is not covered by their insurance. AAU Basketball also changed their rules in 2014 (I think) to take out the grade based and make it age based for the younger ages, although they do have a grade and September birthday exemption for upper ages over 14). US Lacrosse just has to take a leadership role and make the rule (versus guidelines). We can all complain after they do so but with each area having their own guidelines is not good for the sport. Playing 2020 in the spring and then saying I am reclassifying and playing 2021 is not good for the game.

US Lacrosse provides most of the insurance for tournaments and clubs. Not until a serious injury comes about, will US lacrosse's insurance company crack down. If a claim is denied because of illegal aged kids paying in wrong leagues, this will trigger the change. The only problem is a kid will need to get really hurt and millions will need to be awarded. UGH.

There are no outs for the insurance company for not doing playing kids in their proper age group. The county or school wouldn't let you use the field if there were. Club directors could be personally liable if the did something too egregious.

Heck no we ain't putting our birthdays on our website. Embarassing Is Rising Sons really coming to play in HOCO this year. They put their kids' birthdays on the website. Any MD/VA teams willing to do this? Wow..Must be a mistake on their part. Name and birthday would be fine, but rest is too much info for public. Quick glance at Birthdays only. 5 players wouldn't be allowed to play U14 on an age based team with USL guidelines. There are only 3 players born in the months of May,June, July,Aug 02(late Birthdays) out of 24 players. This just confirms why people hold their child back. And this prefirst/holdback/reclass will just continue and get worst until USL makes some type of stand. It makes sense to hold your child back at a young age. If you have a late Birthday your chances of being on a AA team are slim to none. Not picking on Rising sons as many teams are doing this..Crabs,FCA,etc,etc...Just we have a clear picture with these birthdays online. I suspect Crabs would be over the top of this!

I think they will have about 8-10 teams per division this year, so you'd better bump up Diamondbacks, FCA, 3D, 91 or some other clubs to AA.

Just let them do their thing and deal with it. Why do all clubs think they can or should be able to demand being in a particular bracket or demand reasons for where they have been placed? Put down your wish list - which is exactly that - a wish list but ultimately the league is on charge.

Rough Riders are a big question mark, they lost quite a few good players this past off season. Not that indoor is a determining factor, but they won 1 and lost 1 to Looney Green (both games were very very close)
