The clubs nomina nominate the players. So it's not flawed. Each club has a few spots. Better clubs more nominations.

So uh, a majority of the kids that are Jake Reed/ Brine qualifying type players are not on the list but some that did not qualifiy for either event are on this list?
I'm simply saying I hope other kids ultimately make the final list

Showcases have become less important in the recruiting process. There are way too many and most have been watered down. Maverik is still a prestigious event however most of the attendees are already committed. Black Card was very good last year for non committed players.
The current Fall and Summer Tournament Circuit is where the majority of players will be identified by college coaches. Over the past few years some of the tournaments have done a much better job of allowing only the most competitive teams to enter. This has made it much easier for the college coaches. Tournaments that have a limited field of teams like 91, HHH, Dukes , Express, Madlax, Crabs, FCA, Sweetlax, Laxachussets etc.. attract all of the top college coaches.
Showcases work for some but most players will be lost in the showcase format. They are not the end all be all of recruiting. Very easy to be over shadowed by the Player who wants to "showcase" his stuff. That same player who can "showcase" well may not do as well in a team setting. Lack of IQ and understanding of team play/concepts are often exposed in a team setting. Run and gun freelance style of play works better in a showcase environment.
Good look to all and enjoy the ride but remember not to get caught up thinking that any one event is all that important.

Over 3,300 kids submitted applications for 240 spots. Club and HS coach recommendation needed but NXT folks decide who gets the nod. Maybe some of the top players on LI chose not to apply.

Anyone can register for the individual showcase. No nominations for Frrshman. Anyone can register but only those with recommendations from top clubs get in. This applies for both. The clubs only get a few selections and so do the high schools.

A lot of top kids not doing it from Long Island I think you will notice many of the 2018 not doing the event are those that are committed. I don't know why 2019's wouldn't. Its a great event and run very well. If you had the opportunity and passed I say it was a mistake. Gives you a good way to gauge your play versus some very good players in your age group.

My son (2018) went to Philly Freshman last year and it was very worth it. You can not just apply as someone stated. My son needed an invite from his club coach. His coach was given 5 invites only. The other players on his team had to try to get invites from their high school coaches. If your son can get an invite, I would seize the opportunity. If your son can't, do not stress. There will be other opportunities in the spring/summer. Blackcard and Maverick both need invites and are worth trying to get one for.

That is the bottom line and the only thing that matters. Kudos to Prime Time. They may not be the best 2019 in the area but you can't argue with the number of their players attending NXT Showcase. Eye opener.

When will the flood gates open for the kids from LI?
Which Club or HS will have LI's first?

Can the HS coach recommend a player?

As much as we pride ourselves in having the pulse of what's going on in each age group we cant always know what the hidden innuendos going on each class. If this is an issue please email me.

So while politics may be involved, selection to the Fab 40 appears to be a pretty good indication of playing ability. Good luck to all who attend!

Point being you have no chance of being one of the Philly Fab 40 if you don't have an invitation to participate in the showcase. No one cares the whys or hows just that they are participating in the event. Primetime has an enormous number of players attending the Freshman and Junior/Sophomore showcases and that's a reflection of the programs juice and the caliber of the players past and present.

It is also incorrect for anyone to infer that LI is inferior to other hotbeds solely because they didnt have the first 5 commits. If you live in MD/ VA and MD/Hopkins etc comes knocking...pretty good shot that may have always been your dream school. Doesnt exist in LI / CT / Westchester. Surely a slew of those kids have multiple looks - just (smartly) trying to figure out the best fit...as best a 14/15 year old can.
