Badgers should have played with their own age group today, no reason to play up. Didn't prove anything.

Igloo is probably top 5 because they went undefeated in the Columbus Day invitational and beat every team by 7 or more

Wow!!! 4 teams in one age group...can you say money grab. or maybe there are a lot of kids out there that want to play. kids have to play somewhere, so what if express wants to have multiple "developmental" teams? just tell the kids and their parents where you would approve of them playing on another organizations team. or just tell them they can't play.

Igloo impressive. No town team beating them. Dope My take from yesterday is this: it was a beautiful day! Igloo is greatly improved. They were outstanding and dominated at every position. There was no reason for the Badgers to avoid them. Outlaws and Warriors looked about even, though they didn't play. They're a coin flip. Legacy took a pretty big step back from last year. They will have to figure some things out. The Honey Badgers are the only competitive Express team. Channy, Channy 2, and White all have a lot of work to do. It's the first tourney and means very little though. See everyone Saturday for round 2!

Igloo impressive. No town team beating them. Dope From what I saw yesterday, no town team even scores on them. They were very, very good. To the poster that said they are a top 5 team, I think that's an understatement. If they can play like that on a consistent basis, they will be in the #2 or #3 spot of the 2023 teams by the summer season (if they're not already). I wish HB played in their own division yesterday, because they would have had their hands full. But without a B division, I kind of understand. Outlaws and Warriors were not close to Igloo yesterday and Legacy and Express were well below both of them. I know that it's about the kids' development and not about wins, but it was good to see some of the better local teams in the same tourney. If that can happen more often it will make for a very entertaining season.

Town team label not such a negative. Igloo a very strong team and almost whole roster from Manhasset or Cold Spring Harbor.

Ridiculous argument at all comparing town teams vs any club team. Your taking some of the best players from multiple towns against the best from just one town. That's an unfair comparison for the boys. Town teams should stay just that-- town teams. Trying to be anything more results in failed programs. There are lots of towns that have already learned that lesson.

LOL Funny seeing BM quietly on the sideline watching his team get smoked. Thought it was funny as well but parents on that team will not give the new coach too much rope before they demand BM be back on the sidelines. It was pretty obvious that the team is not the same since his departure.

Town team label not such a negative. Igloo a very strong team and almost whole roster from Manhasset or Cold Spring Harbor. "Almost" the whole roster is not the same as the whole roster. And "almost" from one or two strong towns is much different than a single town team. They are a very good team, but they are very far from being a town team.

Whew. Thanks for explaining "almost" to all of us, Captain quotation mark. Before Manhasset 32 broke into Igloo and StoS they would beat most travel teams. So it can be done.
We agree Igloo is almost exclusively from two towns. And yes, two is more than one. Maybe you can help us define "very good" team next? Or maybe define "much different"? Enlighten us.

Manhasset 32 split up with several of the boys and a coach going to Igloo and the other boys and coaches going to S2S
Why? you ask, the coaches couldn't agree and get along. That toxic atmosphere will find its way to the parents of Igloo who were lied to about the make up of the coaching staff at tryouts

Apparently you have a different grudge not related to original discussion which was town teams trying to compete against travel club teams. Point being it works only to a certain level and for so long before the whole town thing falls apart.

This is a poor analogy. There are numerous logistical barriers keeping good players out of St A and Cham that don't exist for travel summer teams. For Catholic HSs, the player actually has to travel to and from the school 180 days a year, pay the tuition (if not on a scholie), miss out on attending school with friends, has to want a Catholic education, which usually means actually be Catholic, etc, etc. Its nothing to jump to a summer travel team as opposed to whatever the town may be offering. Its a huge deal, however, to attend a Catholic HS as opposed to your local, free, HS.

They should never lose to a town team period. It is an embarrassment that has been happening more frequently due to the presence of some outstanding local programs.

I assumed that since your original post was so stupid and incorrect that you were an idiot. That's why I used the parenthesis, you see. I wanted to highlight or emphasize the important words/concepts to make it easier for you to understand. Hope it helped. Also, a team made up of Huntington, Manhasett, Syosett, West Islip, Bellmore, etc... Is exactly like every other team. A travel club team that resembles a town team in no way whatsoever.

They should never lose to a town team period. It is an embarrassment that has been happening more frequently due to the presence of some outstanding local programs. Sure, some go there for athletics, but clearly not enough of the top players go there to ensure dominance over good public HSs. And the barriers described above are the main reason why. Those barriers mostly don't exist in the travel vs town team metric. Look at it this way. Very few of the best 100 or so players in 6th grade chose a town team in the summer over a travel team. But many of the best 100 or so 11th and 12th graders choose their local HS over a parochial school. This is why the analogy fails, and why town teams mostly can't compete with the best travel teams, but it should surprise no one that the top publics can often beat top parochial schools.

You couldn't be more incorrect. Kids go to Catholic school for superior academics and emphasis on college.
And if, as you say, they are going for the Athletics -- why wouldn't they stay in their free town high school where the sports teams are better ??
